yeah deltalo, I took that opinion about two months ago when this share was rock bottom, but the reason they keep on is because they can control the sp. They let it run up 10 or 20 percent then they drop it again

the short sellers will keep ragging this share for the next few months. Its perfect for them preying on the fears of investors until Debenhams get the restructuring complete, which will take months to years

sain vision and kingle, nobody is capable of deramping this share as the short sellers still have full control. It will lose steam again in the next few days as they sell off again and then pick up again. Im staggered at how much control the short sellers have over sp's now.

Mr jones Im in the same bloody club! sold Debenhams at 3.50 and in on this with a smaller holding of Debenhams retained. I'm going to have to top up to even out the position on metro bank now. Long term though I'd much rather be in this than Debenhams!

smartie Im a big supporter in the recovery of this share but given the volume the short sellers hold you have to be cautious.
Ive seen them pull the rug a few times on this share as it reaches 3.8 - 4p. Just to make my position clear, I continue to top up below 3.30p as although I think there will be a rise, I see it being medium to long term

the pension funds that loan the shares should be prosecuted too. Although it is currently legal for them to do so, if a pension fund are the custodians of a share for instance Debenhams, how can they be acting in their clients best interests (the people that pay into the pensions), if the value of share price is reduced irretrievably.

that being said I can only see short selling in the short term for this share when the balance sheet and business growth is strong

sorry to jump on the band wagon sain vision but I feel the posts on here are losing touch with reality a fair bit.

This company is still trading with a borrowing facility and the possible scenarios are speculation with no fact until we updates from the horses mouth.

Yes the share is a risk but Im seeing some positives. One being JP Morgan increasing their stake to 5.9%

upside I don't see that as a reasonable comparison when its 3% of tescos work force! My point here is there is still plenty of security/assets that can be used for future loans, ultimately securing Debenhams future. Mike Ashley tried to get his hands on it first with the 40 million loan but he has been locked out

upside I fundamentally disagree with the phrase "previous management mistakes". I work as an asset manager and there were no mistakes in what the private equity firms including Merrill lynch did in asset striping and signing up Debenhams to extortionate leases, before then floating the company.

That being said though this board seems to be polarized between two extremes of Debenhams going bust etc, rather than a middle way, which in reality given the size of the business and entrenched stake holders will probably happen.

I agree happychappy that JP Morgan are towing a dangerous line but I also believe given the level that this share has been manipulated that are other major share holders are treading a dangerous line with authorities. IMO they will continue to jostle for position short term to make a hefty profit in the summer. Ironically the one aspect that keeps my belief in this share rising substantially is Mike Ashley. He wont get overall control and he wont want to lose any money either so the price will recover. all my opinion, good luck anyone who buys around the 3p mark!

I agree on the J P Morgan and in my opinion they are jostling for position before the share rises

Yes it would have been better if Debenhams weren't stitched up into bad lease agreements just before they went public a few years back, but if you look at the cost cutting drive in the business plan it out weighs the rent issue

SV I personally think the refinancing deal is much more important than the property issues. It will give them the stability to reorganize the business. couple that with potentially more good news of online growth and the sale of the continental business and it will put this share on a solid footing. I strongly believe that Debenhams can offer the banks a comfortable level of security for a refinancing deal, and that it will only be mike Ashley that ends up pig sick as he doesn't achieve the overall control he wants of the business

Smartie I don't think 100% of the posts are negative about Debenhams but its easy to run with the herd and negativity with this share. There are a few factors that could push this share up considerably including the fact that Mike Ashley wont want to lose any money longterm

Does anyone have any idea of the key dates when information will be released on the refinancing result?

At the end of the day that's whats going to push this share up considerably a give Debenhams a solid footing to continue to implement the business plan released in October

strong finish looks promising. Not a major issue either way as next week it will start to gain traction

thank you for the comprehensive update sain@vision. One thing about it that really interests me is that Odey Asset Management are still aggressively increasing their exposure to this share. Makes me think they are confident about the refinancing, which is the real news we are all waiting for
