yeah its all speculation at this point but I feel like if Mike Ashley could have his perfect scenario he would be gunning for shares in exchange for a loan to increase his control, but a fairly small loan so that the CVA route could be implemented to reduce the rents across the estate. At the moment I think he will throw his toys out of the pram every time he doesn't get what he wants and block any other suggestions through the board. Either way though I still see this as a good long term investment as Ashley wont let this go too far as he wont want to lose his stake

dipyourbreadin; if mike Ashley was able to get his loan approved through his new 'favoured board', would it be the case that he would be issued a large volume of new shares, or would he take it in return for the best assets? this is something I haven't been through with a share before but I cant help believing Mike Ashley has even greater influence now. not saying any of this is certain just good to consider all options

Ive had to take a chance on petrofac today at minus 28%

I think its got to the point where any news is going to push this share up. most holders are not going to sell at this price and there's not enough room for maneuver for short selling.

marineville, Im still holding in this share for the medium term so I hope it does rise above 1400. I just wouldn't top up unless there was a big dip. Fingers crossed for a Friday afternoon rally

normlungu; if this is as much as an affect that Mark Carneys speech has had on this SP then Im happy with that!

marineville, I think there's a limited upside at 12.80 at 6% for this share for a few weeks. I think will take my chances with petrofac at a 28% fall!

do you not think a CVA could push the share price up just as quick or probably quicker than a refinancing deal? Im a holder again and think either will have a positive lift on the SP

thanks marineville. As a holder I hope it plays out that way as we are getting steady traction, but I am preparing to top up as a worse case scenario . I also cant see a problem with it getting up to around 1450 giro121. Just my opinion but its not going to take a great leap to get there

A few analysts have said they think they will because of the rapid expansion, but until you hear it from metro bank its just opinion. I bought higher than I would have liked but in profit now and looking to top up if a drop comes reducing my average again as a long term investment

giro121, at the moment it seems to me the shorts are waiting for a cash call from metro bank to plug the 300million balance sheet deficit. I think at that point the shorts will try and push a minor fall much harder and buy back at the bottom. All my opinion but I expect the rise to continue for how ever many weeks in between that news

knigelk, I don't want people to lose their jobs either, but what I also definitely don't want is management to keep taking large pay cheques and let the borrowing facility run up to the limit. I think the CVA could accelerate the restructuring and get Debenhams in a stronger position. the SP would react positively to this

smartie, although he doesn't hold enough on his own, the same alliance he used to kick out the chairman could be used to push through a CVA.

I agree Pearls. Im trying to keep a balanced view on this keeping a CVA or a straight forward re-financing package from the banks announced in the next few weeks. Personally though I'm warming to the idea of a CVA to speed up the restructuring and a positive reaction on the SP

lse2000, I will be surprised if Ashley loses anything long term. he has a strong position at the negotiation table and will probably be the driving force behind a CVA if it were to happen. He will also be looking to negotiate another loan offer that Duddy might be more receptive too, with favourable terms

@ Sainvision; I don't see a CVA as an inevitability, but as a possibility and worth discussing. Also completely disagree with the overly pessimistic view of landlords reactions to it, if it happens. Look a the Homebase example, a plan to radically reduce their estate and lease commitments, which the landlords accepted. A similar agreement could radically accelerate Debenhams restructuring plans

If that article turns out to be right it could shake up the sp and get it moving
