Butterfly A is 247.24 m long by 42.04 m wide.
Belfast Dry Dock (The BDD) is 335m long by 50.29m wide. The one closest to the sea.
Belfast Building Dock (The BBD) is 556m long by 93m wide. The one with Samson and Goliath.

Xenor, after your post yesterday totaling the big trades here and on aquis I checked and found one for 38,105 at about 15:50, so that would have left a round 80k to match the total that was published on the TR-1. Good luck. :)

According to yesterdays TR-1 he had sold 3,518,105 since his previous TR-1 on the 19th of Jan. Would imagine the bulk of which were yestarday afternoon going by the chucky trades. He has a similar amount left 3,756,210. So.... ?

Okay, so one question leads to another and one question that I've always wanted to ask is what happens to the bits of the hull obstructed by the blocks in regards to blasting and painting. Bit like those little circles you can sometimes see on a freshly painted house where the scaffold tubes have been in contact with the walls for stability. Easliy remedied in that instance with a scaffold spanner and a bit of touching up. But that can be done a few tubes at a time and they can be put back in place once the paint is dry. But I can't imagine that it would be very easy to just take a few blocks out, prep and paint, and then put them back. The loads must be immense.
Things inquiring minds need to know. :)

I believe width is as important as length, Stokey. ;)
But I guess they would have to have some idea of the topography of the underside of the vessle which would come from initial build specs or previous dry dockings. It looks like the keel line is the most important thing to get right and they do have a fair amount of control over water levels when emptying the dock so "packing" blocks can be done as required to stabalise the vessle.
But I have heard it can go wrong with some undesirable consequences and a lot of hurried faffing about.
