I noticed that we were meant to be present last CES & then we cancelled it due to Covid ! So do we not then get a stand this year if already paid for last year ?!

I know Smart Eye did not pay as he said so as rolled over to 2023 ?

Yes hard to argue they have had some success. Interestingly the CEO said the procurement stage had taken much longer & in some cases since before Covid.

So we might get news if SEE have managed to win some contracts, as seem OEM's are finally having to make decisions. PMG it's time !!

What an eventful month it has been for Smart Eye.
 
A lot of #automotive business that we have been working on for a very long time has finally come to fruition. In less than a month we have gone from 101 to 194 #DriverMonitoring (#DMS) design wins, and increased our automotive customers from 15 to 18 OEMs.

That includes adopting Guardian Seeing Machines across the entire fleet and plans to move across to electronic work diaries.

Despite some hiccups following the merger, according to Rivers, “the future of the business is enormous.”

He said, “We’re having to turn work away at the moment. Getting the right staff has been difficult but I’m recruiting outside of the transport sector. We now have a registered nurse, a plumber, someone who came from a management role in McDonalds. All things can be learnt if you have a willingness to learn. But transport isn’t just a willingness, it’s an attitude.

“There’s been organisational change. Flattening out our systems is working and our staff love coming to work. I’m really optimistic with where we’re going and with the market. I’ve employed financial analysts too, so we’re restructuring and breaking down every aspect and component of our business.”

You would expect GM to be very happy with SEE DMS & continue adding our tech to new & existing models.

Head-to-head competition with main competitor
The market for DMS is an oligopoly. While Smart Eye is the market leader, main competitor Seeing Machines offers strong competition. While Smart Eye's software is hardware agnostic, Seeing Machines has chosen to specialize its software to some specific processors over the years, currently with a close partnership with Qualcomm. While it's a risky move to bet everything on one horse, should Qualcomm's processor be the leader, Seeing Machines could take over the market leadership in DMS.

V. Conclusion

The timeframe for receiving comments from the public on the Draft Amendments closed on November 26, 2022 and the final version of the amended Cabinet Order and Ordinance is expected to be issued sometime before April 2023. At this stage, it is expected that Level 4 autonomous driving systems will be installed in commercial vehicles used for businesses, such as buses, taxis and trucks. The Draft Amendments are another step in the Japanese Government’s plan to facilitate the operation of transportation services utilizing autonomous driving vehicles nationwide by around 2025. The Japanese Government also has a roadmap allowing passenger cars with autonomous driving functionality to operate on national highways from around 2025. In light of these two targets, many companies, including major Japanese automakers, are working on developing autonomous driving technology for passenger vehicles as well as commercial vehicles. We will continue to closely watch the forthcoming regulatory developments in the autonomous driving space.

The Best Bet
For investors, a solid way to gain some exposure to an outsourcing trend is through Magna. The Canadian auto-parts giant has been building cars for more than two decades. Contract manufacturing accounts for roughly 15% of Magna sales and a similar proportion of its operating profit.

The company’s shares trade for about 10 times estimated earnings, lower than the average 15 times that has prevailed over the past few years. That’s too cheap for Benchmark analyst Mike Ward. “The company is the third-largest supplier globally [and] enjoys a leading competitive position in most of its key product offerings,” says Ward, adding that Magna is well positioned to benefit from industry trends such as electric and self-driving vehicles.

I’ve put some serious effort into researching this company. Mostly because they are so bleeding secretive & you have to dig way deeper to solve the DMS puzzle.

It just bugs me that SEE are so silent ! I’m still long but not nearly as bullish ! PMG & The team really made it look like we would win a lot of business & still no news so making me rethink for 2023.

Let’s face it, we got out played by Smart Eye. They have won more business in the last few weeks than we have in the last 6 months.

How can SEE manage to lose Ford ? We need to understand why Smart Eye are wining all of a sudden ?!

How the Feck did Smart Eye win Ford contract when we are an existing client ?!

Something has gone wrong with top management to lose this contract. We need answers !!

What do SEE have up there sleeve ?

Surely the tie up with Magna will bring new business, but where the heck is the news ?!

Yes but SEE have talked about ;

Japan - talking to 2/3 OEM but still no update
Aviation - still no update on bug licence deal
12 RFQ’s - still no update on any

Meanwhile Smart Eye managed to close 5 OEM wins ! Even Lombard have stopped buying so cheesed off today, won’t lie !!

Has anyone reached out to SEE for comment ? I think they should be looking at this development, Smart Eye up 17% & SEE down 3% !!

Not impressed at all by state of play & silence by SEE !
