Missed a whole host of posts somehow.just caught up.not sure how that happened.I am surprised that if banners have been up for a week nobody on here caught wind of a pc or that the company didnt disclose it.where was this national advertising in the midst of national strikes,some media shutdowns and escalating violence.strange that the community site only mentions it the day before the event.
I have never criticised mc.I have always stated that he is a great ceo .I questioned the wisdom of stating ortega is finished.I dont imagine he has referred to this again ?was mc present at this important step along with all the other dignitaries ?
We have disagreed on here more about the situation in nicaragua over the months.
Aguila,yes I would imagine the timescale is gvnts.yes I understand that if there is a pc it has been sanctioned by marena.what I am not clear on is what course it takes .Is it now concluded and all systems are go or is it an ongoing process?
I do not believe that these protestors are from outside the village.
Electric lion.if it is a public consultation why do you suggest they are breaking in.and if that is the justification for all the arms how comes they manage to "break in "as you put it.I think it is an insensitive time to hold it and on the day of a national strike and smells political to me by the gvnt but the situation is likely to continue so had to happen some time
Anyhow it has been carried out,we see where it leads.I do not suggest these people are representative of the whole village but in life generally there is truth on all sides.I have always understood that cnr would follow good practice and hope that the local economy is enriched.there are however many cases of ruined areas after mining is completed and cnr are unlikely to be around for that stage.I have no issue with cnr but geopoliticals are a different story.
Frenchie,prior to these problems I have never posted anything negative in respect to cnr unlike some here.The whole situation changed 3 months ago,and in case you havnt noticed the share price reflects this.I imagine confirmation of pc and permits will give a decent rise in share price which I am certainly in favour of having re bought recently .I certainly will not be posting negatively if things are positive.in reality we have most likely hit our sp low unless there is something unforseen so its likely to be cash in the bank for me here .may even have a top up.Think I will re set that to 70 p then lol.

Not a very good comparison big dog.as many have said the numbers are not large so why the need for so much firepower.if we had applied the same ratio for trumps visit we would have needed the whole armed forces .
In ireland galantas gold have had problems with permits etc.I do not believe a pc there would be conducted at a days notice under heavy armed gaurd and restricted access.
These people are from the village .there is no chance that outsiders will have got to la india .Gvnt will have waited until the roads are under control .I do not imagine there is any chance the permit process will not be passed whatever.
I have no idea how many people object to the mine.I would like to think that the mine will be beneficial to many,but as we and many there know it is unlikely to be cnr that operates the mine.I dont see mc present?
I sold because of the political instability.It looks like the permits are all but granted maybe .I have had a few recent buys but still considerably less than 3 months ago.I will with an open mind make my decisions on hold buy or sell.
The political situation in nicaragua is horrible .I still fail to see where that is heading.It cannot be long before arms will reach the opposition.
In all honesty I may well decide to sell if there is a decent bounce in the share price on news .50-60p would be fine for me.

Well if the protest is small is there really a need for many armed police and many armed condor employees .because there has been an incident of criminal damage in the past.criminal damage that varies in its description depending on what you read.I have never seen pictures of the damage that could end up with 6 years in the slammer.
It doesnt give me the impression of an inclusive arm out to the community.there are fences erected sectioning off the church and school and the area containing many armed employees.(mercenaries) some may say.
I f the protest are so small where is the need for such a heavy handed aproach to what is suposed to be a consulation with the local community.I hold shares here but this isnt an aproach I feel too happy with.
What previous violence are you referring to that needs such a heavily armed prescence.the nica gvnt has a history of heavy handed aproach to the right to protest.
On the plus side for anyone who doesn' give a sh..,it seems like good timing while large sections of the country are under attack this may slip under the radar.many attacks over night.I havnt seen this making the main opposition sites so far .

Hi big dog,I am not negative to the permit news or the fact there will be a pc.I am quite surprised that it is called without prior warning and without invitation to some of the public it would appear. Considering the full on assaults on leon ,estelli massaya etc presently it seems a political move by the gvnt .weeks after mc called the end of ortega cnr are now indellibly linked to this regime at a very sensitive time.a pc done with armed police at la india.something I mentioned the possibility of last week.
In regard to the ifc,I was reading about the recent $300 m loan to nicaragua and how the world bank is changing its stance on ortega.things are going to tighten up on ortega .world bank usa,no cheap oil from venezuela etc.
One of the reasons for the unrest is the political use of the police and now paramilitaries.
i definitely don't think the permits have been rushed through but wouldnt you expect some notice to prepare for such an event.
It has long been pretty clear that cnr are unlikely to be the operators of the mine .I have tried to find out how the pc is conducted without much success.of course there are always objections to any project and maybe mc's90 per cent approval may turn out to be correct.we may soon find out.I don't imagine this going against cnr really unless it was 90 per cent against and that isn't likely.I cannot see an offer coming in until nicaragua has settled down and that looks far off to me.Unfortunately for nica I fear the instability ,repression and reprisals along with sanctions are liable to get worse.

Sounds like the permits are most likely to happen but if / when ortega is ousted there is likely to be much resentment if the pc has been rushed through .

The protests about pensions were preceeded by protests about the gvnts poor attempt to extinguish forest fires and refusing outside help.co- incidently they just happen to be in areas wanted for development.The canal project and its disregard for peasants and indigenous people have helped create this situation.

from what I see on social media ,ortega police and paramilitaries are taikng control of the streets and barricades coming down.we have got to the stage where churches are being attacked.I am not convinced that ortega is finished .his speech on sat makes clear he isnt planning on going co-inciding with a large increase in repression.I think this will drag on for a long time.usa is getting involved with personal sanctions which is guaranteed to increase,
Yes I have viewed footage of the hated riot police at la india,not a great sight .my comment about armed prescence was slightly devils advocate but I cannot see gvnt officials are going anywhere near for a longtime without armed prescence.

No easy,what is very obvious is that there is a large ammount of "paramilitaries" vigilates working in conjunction with police at present,all armed to the teeth ,areas that were blockaded are now under heavy armed prescence and that is likely to continue .it is very ugly and getting worse .it is likely to take a generation for nicaragua to get over what is happening at present.the gvnt and fsln squads are very unlikely to give up their arms.

What about mc's view that ortega is finished ?what are your views on that?mark is doing his best and he still seems positive on the permits.I had a modest buy on friday.still hard to see where things are going.there is another general strike called and a big protest for next week.barricades are being removed by extreme force.some appear to be rebuilt.
Usa starting to take action against regime members.human rights investigators are working.

I find the idea of a pc any time soon unlikely.mina la india is fairly close to much of the violence.I dont believe that they would be lynched bezell having seen the huge force they use.perhaps the pc will be carried out under heavy armed prescence.There is footage of the last time riot police went there.not too pretty and things are a whole lot worse now.

Galantas is worth a punt on possible take over,possible resource upgrade and nearing production.
35 p -100p wouldnt be bad if things turn around for cnr.small buys for me spread out over time.I still feel we may go lower,however 34 p seems pretty stable surprisingly.

From memory I seem to record 20 per cent holding roughly I think.also heavily invested in galantas too .yes companies do get boyght at cnr present stage.
My only problem is the current political situation which is not good.I am not so sure that it is all priced in but only my opinion based on the fact that four months ago before the protests I was buying at 39 p ,not much higher than at present.However cnr share price has held fairly well all things considered so far.I think barring a wipeout a significant upside is available at present but timescales are hard to anticipate.
