noggers - I have no idea how many smart meters have been fitted so far but I read in the Daily Torygraph that their energy reporter had one fitted (at no cost LOL) - it cost £400 to fit and has never worked - he is still - like me - going on line to give meter readings - no problem at all for me and I do NOT get estimated bills ! I bet the cost of ripping out the failed meters and fitting new ones will all go on our bills ! I read a letter in the DT from a guy who called in an engineer to check his smart meter and when the engineer checked it he said it was OK - present burn 3.5 KW ! Strange said the customer - I tripped the master breaker on the fuse board so the only thing running is your smart meter !!!! I also saw a report that mobile signals interfere with readings ! I asked my wife if we had stumbled into a dream world run by Hans Christian Anderson ? I can tell Mrs May what will happen to energy bills if she attacks the companies - ALL cheap deals will disappear and we will all be on the SVR - my fixed price contract ends in November and the cheapest deal I can presently get is £250 a year MORE than I am presently paying. HOC doing well at the mo ! So some good news ! Regards

I wonder why FXPO is 5% up today ? Best performer on my high quality watchlist - although I am not tempted to buy as it is too volatile at the mo - one of the big fallers yesterday ! I am happy with holding HOC at this SP level and still think we are due a big upswing soon. Regards all

I went into HUR on the morning they declared their huge oil find and lost £2400 in two days ! I am glad I was not tempted to buy in on the recent spike - down 12% in 3 days ! Another loss for me was SOU - lost another £2400 in ONE day as SP dropped 8%. Just glad I bought PMO at 55p and made almost £5K in one day. I have PMO on the watch list and might buy back in June when their finances are all sorted out ! But if oil keeps dropping I will be avoiding oilys - Saudis misjudged the Yanks and their ability to roll with the punches - every time Saudis cut production the Yanks bring back on line more of their fracking rigs - an extra 600 back on line this month. The Yanks will be 100% self sufficient in energy by 2020 and will be a major exporter to places like the EU which is heavily reliant on Russia for gas and oil ! Corbyn has a new election slogan "Sell May and go away and come back on Election Day !" Regards

Eish - I am quite happy to be complimented twice - having run amok a bit and got burned on several day trades I am back in my cage now and waiting for the big HOC recovery. Buying back in at these low SPs has brought my average way down now to about 241p so - like you I am optimistic for a 10% or 20% recovery soon. The next big step may come after the June election but Mrs May needs to go careful with her big promises. I had to laugh when she said "I am going to cap these outrageous price rises of 37% in the last 12 months by the big energy companies - she should look at their final profit margins - about 6% - what has caused the huge rise in energy prices is interfering politicians with their crazy carbon schemes ! Useless windmills and solar panels that get priority on the Grid but need coal and gas and nuclear backup for when the wind dont blow and the sun dont shine ! And all the secret bills for welfare state measures - warm home payments for benefit claimants etc and the useless "smart meters" which have cost many millions and now need replacing cos they dont work ! Centrica has come up with an excellent idea - strip out all the green and welfare subsidies and pay them from a central fund from taxes so the whole population can see what daft politicians are costing us on energy ! We are the only country that has signed up to 80% CO2 capture and a move is afoot to make it 100% - so as animals and humans breathe out CO2 we will all have to die or emigrate to make the daft political target !!! PS - crops thrive on CO2 and give out O2 for us all to breathe ! Rant over - back to watching WTM - up 85% today and MWG - up 28% today - perhaps we should be in water rather than gold - LOL Regards

Eish - I do not think that China will devalue - it would cause a huge loss of face for the rulers - more likely to let the Yuan float and find its own level. Gone are the days when Mandarins insisted on payment for silk and tea in bars of silver (taels) -- because we were running out of silver our govt hit on a new payment system - OPIUM ! Turned a vast number of Chinese into addicts and led to the Opium Wars with China (which were won by the British Empire) and opened up China to Foreign Devil invasion by us and the French USA Japan Germany Russia etc I think that is all correct but I may be Wong Regards

Eish - TY for the excellent info. But surely not a "bloodbath" ? More a meltdown ! Strange that silver is being hammered (no pun intended) but gold is on hold ! As a general rule I am happy with holding HOC until the SP starts to peak again at 290p but I will see if my new master trading plan bears fruit - next hit point for top slicing is about 17 May. Of course day trading means you have to keep closely watching the SP rises and falls. Many times in the past I have seen a massive SP rise - gone for a coffee and come back to SP in the red ! I paid a heavy price for my recent foray into SDX oil and gas - I was even warning on the BB that if the present drilling came up "dry" the MMs would automatically drop the SP 20% (which is what happened) I got out at 55p and the SP is staying at about that level. At least HOC cannot drill a dry hole ! An oil expert friend of mine many years ago advised against investing in small oil and gas exploration companies he said "There are thousands of them out there and their chances of success are on average only 5% to 10%" No more oilys for me Regards and here's hoping for a better SP today. PS The Macron surge did not last long - the CAC was the worst performing EU SM yesterday. Macron has no political power base so he will be a "lame duck" president IMO - he will be forced into coalition and consensus politics and France will just drift - as it has under the inept leadership of Hollande Next big event for us is the AGM

Ag price down about 10% in the last 30 days ! No wonder HOC SP is sliding ! I still think 230p is the big support and we will just have to wait until sanity returns to the mining world for a big rise in SP ! Regards all

If we had bought at the lowest SP in the last 12 months - even at today's SPs we would have profits of : AAL 85% CEY 69% ENQ 73% EVR 97% ENQ 73% FXPO 414% - yes 414% - GLEN 130% HOC 113% KAZ 285% SOU 360% and VED 83% I made the mistake of losing faith in companies and hopping around buying and selling hoping to hit the right buy and sell points so I LOST money last year - mainly on BARC shares in the first 6 months of 2016. I will be a bit more careful from now on - my only holding at the mo is HOC Regards all

At the last General Election I and 4 million others voted UKIP and gained ONE MP. The Scots voted 1.2 million for SNP and got 56 MPs - not my idea of true democracy. Now that UKIP has won its battle for BREXIT I would advise all previous UKIP voters to vote Conservative at the June GE to stop Crazy Corbyn and his communist cronies from gaining power and hopefully Ruth Davidson in Scotland can cut back the SNP a bit ! Eish - I think Pitt The Younger was just 23 when he became PM and sorted out our finances and paid off nearly all the National Debt - then along came the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleon ! 26 years of fighting the French and subsidising allies would have sent us bankrupt but Pitt brought in the first Income Tax (only on the very wealthy) at 3% and Government Bonds (IOUs !) paying 5% on long terms Pitt was also a life long bachelor and a brilliant man. I think Little Mac is a pint sized version of Justin Trudeau - very charming but not a very strong leader. He will be stymied by not having a lot of his own supporters in the National Assembly and will be forced into a coalition government (and we all know how well that worked for us !!! - still suffering from loonie Lib Dem politics) Little Mac is a strong EU supporter but not like Junkers (vindictive) so we should be OK - I notice that many of his victory signs were in ENGLISH - why - because he wanted to reach the maximum world audience - eat yer heart out Junkers. Little Mac has millions in the bank after a successful banking career (retired at age 25 - LOL) so he will be finance and business friendly. noggers - my wife is on holiday with U3A - back tonight - so me and my dog have had time to discuss HOC in depth. Although past performance is no sure guide to the future SP I have viewed 14 short term trades over the last year where we could have gained from 10% (lowest) to 51% (highest) by buying and selling at the right times. I did manage to hit some of these points this year and they have offset my losses in drongo shares like SOU, HUR and SDX - catching them at the wrong time and losing 8% to 15% of £30K each time !!! I have £30K in HOC now and if it runs true to form it will go up 30% from the low point of 300p but will peak about 17 May (sell point) ! Next buy point is about 27 May and sell at about 15 June ( gain from low to high 25%) Next buy point is 22 June and sell at 5 July (gain of 51% from low point) Next buy point 7 Jul ! sell at 12 Jul (gain of 20%) Next buy point 20 July sell at 4 August (gain of 40%) Next buy point 6 August ! sell at 10 August (gain of 10%) Next buy point 31 August (big drop expected) sell 9 September (gain of 10%). Next buy point 16 September sell at 28 September (gain of 16%) next buy point 12 October (big drop again) sell at 7 November (gain 10%) Next buy point 25 November (big drop again) sell at 12 December (gain of 16%) Next buy point 23 December and sell at 5 January (gain of 10%) Next buy point 27 January and sell at 7 February (gain of 20%) Next buy point 9 March and sell at 15 March (gain of 26%) Finally buy in at 4 May (big drop) and sell at 17 May (gain of 30%). That was the pattern over the last year but the SP moves so fast that you would need to watch closely at each of the hot spots for 2017 variations. Having said that - a clear trading pattern seems to be that excellent gains can be made by selling sometimes at just 2 or 3 days holding but mostly at 10 to 17 days - but no more ! I will be following the above plan (plus or minus a few days either side of hot points) this year and let's see if it works out ! The message is clear to me - NOT a share to hold long term (months) If I only hit half of my targets I will be very happy ! All the above is based on facts from April 2016 till now but conclusions and gambling plan is all IMOO - I am disappointed that having done lots of research on HOC and found all the fundamentals excellent we honest gamblers have been hit hard by the market mafia games so "If you caint beat um - join um !!!!" It's time the HOC aye team won back a few pounds ! Mr Macron (now know as Little Mac due to his lack of height) has been selecting his new cabinet - half of whom will be women - he denies that all will be former teachers that he has "known" but leaked e mails suggest that Foreign Policy will be held by the History teacher - Finance will be held by the Economics teacher - Sport and Health will be held by the PE teacher - EU will be held by the Geography teacher and Culture will be held by the English teacher (who also taught Boris Johnson !) Police, Prisons and Security will be run by Miss Whiplash ! Present turnout is 3% down so watch with interest later on - the Polls close at 1900 hrs our time Mrs Merkel's bid for closer ties with Russia is bound to fail as Germany and Russia will always be Poles apart !
