I find it all rather interesting that over half the shares out on loan are to an American hedge fund: Coltrane. Obviously, perhaps due to what is happening on that side of the pond regarding semiconductors right now, they have, understandably, a different view on things. Perhaps they have heard a whisper even? Makes one sit up and think... does it not? Will be just as interesting to see if anyone else increases over the next day or two...or even decreases for that matter; on that thought -- lets all hope!!

Personally I would, in the main, have to agree with much of what you say, Dominator. I suspect that the Chinese were probably offered a pretty good deal in the first place...but the Chinese leadership, and I will bet to the great abject disappointment of the Chinese negotiators, more than likely (as is their way of doing things) thought they could squeeze the Yanks for quite a bit more. Wrong!!! They obviously do not understand, fully, the American way of thinking...and they, obviously, do not understand, which is far more important, Trumps way of thinking either. Whichever way you look at it: there is only one winner here, in the short term...and it will not be the Chinese.

Across on the "other board" someone has mentioned that Barclays have tagged IQE as "overweight" with a target price of 80 pence. At last! A price that sounds a lot more credible than those pie-in-the-sky merchants.

Errr...what sort of deal, Mr Swerves? You mean a bribe perhaps? Heavens above...the very idea. P.s Has anyone managed to get a reply from anyone at all connected to this company as why they are refusing any communication with the shareholders...or have I got that all wrong also. Cheers!

As quite often, Basscadet, each side of the argument has valid points...let us hope that somewhere in between lies therein the answer. A compromise of sorts...as long as it is a proportionally, well-balanced, sensible one of course. Cheers!

Despite all the much and varied comments that the s.p on these pages generates (and jolly entertaining it is too!) it all comes down to one thing: at least five years to see the s.p returning anywhere near its former highs...and that's if it all goes according to plan. It might well be longer than five years...who knows? If this was not such a heavily "unionized" company there would now be compulsory redundancies being lined up...not a nice thought I agree...but any "normal" company could go a long way in a short time to sorting out the same problems because they do not have the same imposed restrictions as RMG. It is quite simple: Royal Mail is an old plodding institution that was designed to improve commerce for the benefit of a country provided for at the cost of the tax payer -- not designed to provide a service that created a profit!!! How anyone can expect Royal Mail to overcome all its inherent problems intrinsic to 500 years of "stuff the cost" is just beyond me. Just as £6.30 at the time was beyond me as well...not complaining though -- I made a nice big juicy profit from it!!

I have espoused my own views on President Trumps determination to curb the intentions of China's intended world hegemony on these pages once before...it received a rather poor reception if I recall. The truth of the matter though is this: if anybody thinks that China can be allowed to flood the world markets with any amount of goods (semiconductors or otherwise) enabled by what amounts to almost slave labor at times -- then they need a whack on the side of the head! It is highly unlikely, if Trump makes the request, that the UK would, or could even, refuse to join with him in enforcing their own tariffs against the Chinese. How, in all sincerity, could we? If this is something that involves the long haul how could we stand aside to later on reap all the rewards? That would not bode well for our prospects with ensuing good relations with the worlds most powerful economy...especially after we come out of Europe -- and we are now out! Its a brave but harsh new world out there...and more people need to wake up to this new reality before it is far to late.

Well, Woodstock, you certainly have been investing a lot longer than myself; I am the amateur here...but I think we are most certainly on the same field. As you say: it might be better to take smaller gains. It is a difficult one this one (difficult for me I should say) to make a subjective decision based on all the many factors. The most important being -- can the company actually generate enough sales to survive!! The company has a lot of potential...but, unfortunately, it has a history of rampant cash burn...and that is putting it as politely as I can. There are people on the "other board" claiming this s.p will be soon making its way back up to 6 pence or even 10 pence a share...make your own mind up on that one. I think myself I might sit it out for the longer term. I cannot for a moment understand (in the absence of a meaningful RNS) why the price shot up like it did in the last couple of days...but it would appear it soon got sold down due to profit been taken. Or have I got that all wrong? I would rather buy more shares here as the price slowly but steadily rises on the back of positive and sustainable news than keep buying at the present price without the encouragement of any news. It all comes down to the same thing I suppose: its a straight win or lose -- there is going to be no in between!

Enjoyed the read, John...a very fair assessment I would have to say. The one silver lining: if the s.p does drop quite a considerably bit lower (and I myself could see that happening yet again) it will at least provide another good buying opportunity at a reasonable price. Let us content ourselves that, in the long term, 5G technology is very fast approaching...and there is absolutely nothing the "Shorters" can do about that. Cheers!

I for one think this is a little gem of a company...I cannot understand why the share price has fallen as low as it has over the last month or so? It has proven patent-protected technology, products approaching full commercialization...and, apparently, cash in the bank. Whats not to like? Unlike one other highly touted Graphene company I can bring readily to mind this company just quietly goes about its business...so quietly in fact that it would appear as if almost completely under the radar.

I believe I am correct in stating that the Edison report was requested by IQE itself. If so it is not worth the paper it is written out on...laughable in all truth. The problem with this stock is nobody seems to be able to nail a fair market price to it. It is so vulnerable to hype and multiple market forces (plus, at that faintest whiff of advancing its technology or contracts, in a matter of hours becomes horribly oversubscribed) that its hard to know what its true value actually is. Obviously this is a stock "Tailor Made" for the Shorters. I, myself, suspect a fair market value would be about 64 pence a share; the shorters would tell you 30 pence is closer to the true value. Perhaps we could all agree on 50 pence a share? Then, at the very least, it might be a starting point for a slow but sustainable start...which is much more preferable than this ridiculous charade that is constantly being played out.

Most definitely worth buying at these prices...up or down its a "no brainer". I could see the s.p creeping back up to the mid £2.20s before having the "profits" sucked out of it; but if it does visit the £2.00 threshold once more... I think it will be for the last time. Sometime in the next month, regardless of the next week or two, this should start a slow and steady climb...one lives in hope anyways. I personally do not subscribe to the s.p being in the top part of the £3.50 plus range within the next 6 months...but who knows? Perhaps it could! The one fly in the ointment is the CWU: they have to agree with all this, and are still waiting to meet Rico Back himself regarding the Royal Mails "adverse attitude" regarding the "Four Pillars" agreement. There are still a few twists and turns left to this story I feel.

I enjoyed your comments, Woodstock...nice to become acquainted. Regarding Graphene in general, (not sure how much you know about Graphene and the research that is going on right now) have you checked out the GEIC website (Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre) -- fascinating stuff! Haydale was one of the original companies that were invited to become associated with the research centre...I think they were one of the first "Tier One" members. Regarding other Graphene companies to buy into: AGM and Directa Plus are both worth looking at. AGM is attractively priced at the moment...its share price has dropped from 55 pence a share last year to what it is at present -- 28 pence a share; good news in the form of sales has pushed the price up over the last few days. AGM has cash in the bank, products that are now coming to the shelves and plenty more to come...definitely worth a punt in my opinion.

That RNS was just about the worst idea since Custer shouted "Charge!" What on earth were they thinking about?!! There was absolutely no point in it whatsoever. Intelligent people? Yes, undoubtedly. Commonsense? None - obviously!!

I don't know how long you have been aboard this hazardous cruise, Woodstock...but I have been sailing these turbulent waters since the share price was 55 pence a share. Anyone who thinks this share price is going to even slowly but surely rise by slight increments upwards has quite simply got it all wrong. For the first time yesterday (to my utter astonishment) the share price rose rather sharply; further compounding my amazement (obviously I have averaged down) I was actually looking at a slight profit --unbelievable I thought!! Trouble is, people who are holding tens of millions of shares will obviously cash in to take their profits...and who could blame them? Holding even a couple of hundred thousand shares here is nothing. This company has massive potential for all the reasons everyone is well aware of. But can it survive even another 12 months without more cash? I would say that is a straight fifty/fity. In other words you might as well bet your hard earned dosh on the flip of a coin...it just about amounts to the same thing here.

On the other board this latest RNS is being hailed as positive news...? Smacks more of desperation to me. Sub seventy pence approaching...followed by imminent meltdown no doubt. Ah well -- 0.66 pence beckons once more. Hopefully not.

One of the reasons the s.p has dropped so dramatically is that income investors are taking the hit and abandoning ship in search of a higher dividend...this has helped the shorters drive the price down even further. Not everyone, especially the older investor, has the luxury of waiting 5 - 8 years for a stonking good return...they need money coming in on a regular basis to help support their other incomes.

Firstly -- congratulations to Mr Falklandinvestor! You stuck to your guns - reaped the rewards...and should be applaud for such. As for myself...I intend to keep buying all the way down. This is one of those rare, rare occasions where everyone should win...apart from the ones too busy panicking to see the huge rewards at the end of the tunnel. This is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY to make some serious money...if you are content to be in it for the long haul that is. Five years at least. Rack em, stack em, put em in the bottom drawer...and then put them well to the back of your mind. This is as good as money in the bank!
