There have been rumours, and over the last several months, of a possible takeover attempt...and I also did hear mention that Amazon might well be interested. However, as it stands at the moment, Amazon do very well out of the Royal Mail...and therefore I very much doubt if Amazon, or anyone else for that matter, would want to chance a business (even with all its fantastic network and high value land and brick and mortar assets) that needs such a colossal amount of reinvestment...plus of course the ever looming presence of the CWU union; and there is plenty more torrid water to come under that old shaky bridge I can tell you.

It certainly all points in the direction you have mentioned, POSTI...looks like it is getting ready for yet another good old bashing. If it is not careful IQE is going to get overtaken by new companies and, maybe, newer emerging technology...its s.p won't be worth sh!t then.

As one of you commented: "Deafening silence"! This BOD's growing silence reminds me of yet another Georgia based company's silence...although admittedly in that particular case a far greater one. Now let me see, which one was it? Ah, yes -- Georgian Mining Corp! Ooppsss. :)

If anyone here is thinking of taking a holiday in Portugal over the next week or two please be reminded to look Mike up...you might well find him flat out on a sun lounger whilst soaking up the hot, sizzling rays on a private and secluded, golden beach somewhere away in the Algarve. He will be the one who periodically reaches for that tall and frosted glass, takes a replenishing sip, and, lowering himself gently back down, chuckling to himself before closing his eyes and resuming his contented snoozing; more than likely he can be identified by the corks swinging from his wide-brimmed hat...apparently it keeps all the irritating little pests away. But don't expect to find him balls deep in sh!te whilst swinging a pick at the bottom of a mine shaft. Errrr...nnoooooo.

Just visited Georgian Mining's website and watched, once again I might add, the video: Blytheweigh mining show - Mike Struthers: Georgian Mining 28th August 2018. With present hindsight very, very informative. Says it all: Sympathetic, obliging prime minister, along with most of his cabinet, resigns -- new, hostile prime minister with strong soviet sympathies appointed -- new minister of economy joins the cabinet after having worked for a considerable time in Moscow = Present government recognizes the fact that it was Soviet investment that first started these mines -- recognizes the fact that under the old styled communist regime there was insufficient finance, at that time, available to invest in new technology to get further deposits from out of the ground = Present government not happy with "outsiders" coming in with foreign investment on the back of all the former sweat, toil and hard work to take what many see as the rightful property of the former Georgian/Moscow collaboration. Or have I got that all wrong, ericeric?

Has any one of you on here, or any person you might know of, (in the last month or so that is) actually tried to either email the company or directly contact any of the directors in any other way? Just wondering.

I don't altogether agree with you there, spottydog...but, who knows ...I have been wrong many times before. As for your contention, ericeric, that an environmental problem has been the issue and is now "resolved" -- load of crap!!! If that was the case why have the directors not been buying in big time over the last couple of days? Total hogwash!!!

Would you care to try and explain the refusal to issue the relevant permit(s) then, ericeric? And please, don't give warring brigands, internal power struggles among local politicians or the Russian mafia as the reason(s). If that is the case then somebody has not been paying the candy have they?

I strongly agree with incompetence, MontyUK...but there is also one other thing -- ARROGANCE!!! Arrogant: someone who is full of self-worth or self-importance and behaving as if they have a sense of superiority over others. If I had to guess I would say some person(s) has/have been strutting around rubbing the local populace, dignitaries and law enforcers up, very badly I might add, in the worst possible way. They have obviously thought they could just walk in and strip the indigenous communities of their God provided wealth. Errrr...nooooo, boys, it does not quite work that way. Now all grow up and go and dig somewhere else before you all get your little bottoms well and truly -- SPANKED!!!

I bet that AGM is going to have a lot more investors turning up than anticipated several weeks ago. I would'nt fancy being one of those having to sit there whilst looking back at all those furious, stony-faced investors. GULP!!!!!

I understand about "shorting", Mick_b...and have no problem with some of it; we all agree that if shares don't periodically drop then they cannot rebound or return to climb even higher than previous...after all you need the s.p to drop to be able to attract new buyers and therefore restart the cycle once again. What I have a problem with is people who spout the same old weary cliches after the event ("well positioned", "cautiously optimistic", "will ensure it is well placed", etc, etc, bl**dy etc!) instead of being upfront and crystal clear of any impending problems right at the very first hint of trouble. But, sadly, no. They would seem, it would appear, to prefer to sit on their hands and hope it will all go away. This is exactly what feeds the shorters. If we were all privy to any "privileged" information that might have a good chance of escalating into a major downward readjustment they would not be so successful at shorting would they? We can all do as much research (as private investors) as we like...but without certain "privileged" information that is not freely available in the public domain it really does not stand us in much stead. As always the ones shorting the most seem to have the uncanny knack of increasing just before the bombshell explodes. Funny that...is it not?

This appalling company has now, and finally, run out of its long history of lamentable excuses. As of 31st of May ( amidst all the news of the USA/China trade war) Lumentum fell to $40.00 a share...now increased to $49.00 a share, Skyworks fell to $66.00 a share...now increased to $75.00 a share. ???? How does IQE equate all its problems to the USA/China trade war then? Huawei the problem? I think not!! I said it weeks ago, on this site, that if IQE was a world leader in their chosen field why was the s.p so low? And, if I recall correctly, it was then in the seventies pence range. World leader my fat a*se!!! IQE: fantastic academics + big dreams = very little substance. How about that for an impressive equation, Doctor?

Not quite sure I fully understand the sentiment of your statements, OliGarch. I am aware that some Royal Mail staff work enormous amounts of overtime of course...but - phew!...not to your extent. 12 days on including 24.5 hours at the weekend -- how the hell do you manage it!!!!!!

Congratulations, Dave85, for spouting the most obvious, long-winded, self-important, pompous, overbearing crap I have ever heard. Yes, you annoying twerp, quite correct -- they need a bl..dy permit!!!!!!!

This four day week applies to the people working in processing the mail...unsure of drivers and posties delivering. As for the money saving side of it over the next year or two: 1; RMG (in processing) has wanted to curb the amount of overtime for quite a while...concerning "SA" at least, 2; the extended shifts will do the exact job that the overtime was doing...but instead of extra pay being offered to bolster numbers at particularly busy times of the day it is now going to be accomplished by these selfsame posties on an extended shift, 3; by ensuring more posties on the floor at any one time this lessens the need to employ agency workers. All very simple really...and I am surprised I should have too explain it all to you. P.s And think on this: if you were disallowed from working your overtime on your day off...would you want to put another 2 hours a day on top of a shift already 9.25 hour long? Answer: "I very much doubt it".

Royal Mail announced to its workforce yesterday that all of its employees (unsure of the drivers) will, as of October, be working a four day week...this is in response to the reduction of the working week (Four Pillars Campaign) down to 35 hours agreed in the arbitration settlement. This is a clever move by the Royal Mail: 1; it will reduce the need for agency staff...due to the fact all shifts will be considerably increased, 2; it will decrease the amount of overtime the company pays its employees ( a lot of it completely unnecessary) due to the fact many people will be physically incapable of working 11 to 12 hour shifts, 3; it will reduce the amount of holiday pay: employees who sign up to "SA" receive this amount of guaranteed overtime in their pay packets when sick or taking holidays...soon to be included when employees undertake "Pressure" overtime as well I believe. This is a masterstroke that RMG has just pulled...will save millions over the next couple of years until the working week is down to four x 8.75 hour shifts -- Clever!!

ericeric, regarding your comment about me perhaps being some sort of underhanded deramper -- nothing of the sort!! I bought 10000 shares in this company at a price of just over 3p a share. It was quite simply this: a day at Chester race course or a complete punt on an ailing company with the slimmest of chances. They were one and the same thing: an old knackered nag with a hundred to one shot. With such a trifling investment I find it all rather amusing actually. Cheers!! P.s Even at these prices I would not buy in here; in fact...not at any price below 3p.

Hope I don't put the "mockers" on it...but is there support here at the 2.06 level? Looks encouraging...think I will have a little dip. A nice slow, but sustainable, rise would be a welcome thing here. Slowly, slowly would be just fine.
