AimMaster2018 - "I want it to drop." - be careful what you wish for...

AimMaster2018- I've invested about 30-35% of the amount which I eventually plan on investing into VOD. I'm holding cash, for more purchases yet 👍 - yes, I was in profit when VOD was at 75p because as you know my average is ~67p. Synthomer was sold a long time ago now but yes, my wife did lose a small amount upon selling her entire holdings of Synthomer. We didn't go ahead with the property purchase in the end... I saw data suggesting dampening property demand & prices stalling, and just as there are many cars on the market to buy, well the same goes for houses too.

AimMaster2018, are you still invested in CPI?

Pokerchips - I think you're failing to appreciate how devastating the tariffs will be for jobs in EU + UK. They'll essentially make export sales to USA non viable, so the job losses will be decimating until there is a reversal and what's more is the GOP is doing this to completely rewrite the taxation model fundamentals. It's going to send EU, UK, Asian tiger economies into a deflationary spiral. Whilst China will feel less pain as they can mobilise their massive domestic consumer base.

Team Trump has pursued the policy via sudden change when if they wanted to genuinely deliver this the better route would have been slow nudging over time (giving time for businesses to make the ecessary readjustments). I don't think this is so simple as Trump wanting to broker deals. He doesn't want deals, he wants USA as the winner which takes all prosperity. However, he's quickly going to find out the hard way that the rest of the world will kick back and v.hard too...

Trump is going to lead USA into a faster decline into 2nd + perhaps 3rd place of the 'worlds biggest economies' league table. Plus he's going to try to drag many down with him.

CPI just oversaw (in FY2024 results) a high single digit % revenue decline...

This global turbulence is landing at a time when CPI is looking very vulnerable indeed, the consolidation too will give some cause for concern over the true motive. CPI also dropped significantly Thurs/Fri last week, so presumably same again if there's red tomorrow.

I think USA markets will finish fairly deep in the red but perhaps not so bad as Friday. Dow J maybe 1100pts down.

AimMaster2018 - I'm not scared, as I said I'm still continuing to build my stake in VOD, and so I will be buying up some more imminently. All stocks are going to be getting brutalised next week, mind you... VOD less so than others IMO.

BT has the disadvantage of going into the turmoil 2ith poor results. Whereas VOD despite poor Germany performance did very well elsewhere and I'm expecting their next results to hold up rather well too 👍

62.7p IMO for Friday COP - gonna be a brutal week on the markets sadly.

Monday morning session is going to be a savage sell off IMO, Trump doubling down. China + EU retaliation on the imminent horizon and a growing list of businesses halting their exports into USA...

Big stock drops ahead, including here for EZJ. Those who have over speculated here are going to be getting a massive dressing down IMO.

Is looking inevitable tomorrow... EU set to deploy countermeasures on the back of China having already done so... it's going to be a brutal trading session and the news of Starmer set to make a statement 'later this week' is not going to prove nearly sufficient enough.

Few stocks will escape unscathed IMO. FTSE likely down by 4-5% by lunchtime IMO. DYOR.

AimMaster2018, you may well be about right with calling 65p open price tbf. My target buying range for adding some more to my holdings is 57.5p-63p (depending on how events over weekend and early next week pan out - hence the currently large range).

One thing is for sure, nice to have buybacks snapping up many of these low priced shares; as the money being deployed will purchase and cancel a greater volume of stock 👌 - much better than if buyback monies were purchasing at relatively high SP's.

I remain positive on VOD and am only about 35% through my process of accumulating here atm so am not disappointed to be gettinf this opportunity to invest into VOD here at keen prices 👌

Lots of pain coming and don't ever expect any of them to take responsibility for their actions as they never do so. Double down is their only way.

Avocet123 - It hasn't hurt me (yet). I'm not claiming it won't do (neither cash, assets or stocks are truly safe from global economic collapse).

AimMaster2018 - slightly down now, as I imagine many many ppl will be after today. But it's small fry and I've powder for some buying, if the right opportunity arises.

Avocet123 - Powell cannot and will not maintain that position forever - He will though want to do nothing perhaps for the time being to highlight that this chaos is all on Trump (intervening today would allow GOP to blame Powell for some of the chaos on Wall Street and Powell will want to be able to say there's been no change at the Fed so therefore the only cause its Trump Dump from his mad as a hatter tariff mania).

Stupmy - Seriously? Did you think the US markets would rally/stabilise? Because to me that was so obvs never going to happen here.

Not with the kind of comments Trump's been making today, and his leisurely jaunt around the golf course while the modern global economy gets burnt to the ground. It's full tilt double down Donald and I think once more nations watch on as the USA implodes there will become greater co-operation among those outside USA to rally together and isolate from the madness going on in the WH. Potentially Chineese Yuan could become the new world Global Reserve currency here if there's no end to the chaos.

Avocet123 - Likely because he might view him intervening as just giving GOP more ammunition to blame the US Fed and avoid taking their own responsibility. My My... could even be in for a 2400-2500pt drop on the Dow with that comment from Powell.

It's imminent.
