This just isn't true... it's poorer, smaller & weaker. The results are proof of this.

CPI will definitely go further than the £250mil of cuts but... the mechanism will be lack of cash flow to pay them whrn the current strategy fails to work; and much less a pro-active strategic choice to make targeted cuts...

Yes, the old model isn't working for CPI but... I don't think the new one can work either and that's why I say by the time the get the data to realise it could well already be End Game.

Sorry, I just don't see any possible scenario in which CPI does 'very well' - at best it can slow the rot. I think stopping the rot now is already not possible as they haven't changed tactics... AH is just pressing on irrespective of the obvious warning signals and that's a sad situation for employees.

AH has chased unrealistically high margins because the tides have already changed, the signal was in the plummeting contract wins stats.

AimMaster2018- agree, in some areas councils have already consolidated & gone unitary with lots of efficiency gains (as then they can use the same systems and common departments too)... so fewer contracts will be offer but each one will be bigger and thetefore more sought after by those tendering; CPI holding out for better pricing will find their sales managers just don't grasp what's happened and why they're losing so badly... by the time they figure it out it'll be much too late in the day.

AiM... Public sector, town & county, councils about to enter large scale mergers to create more unitary authorities too... however, I imagine CPI will be uncompetitive in tendering for contracts put out for bids, especially while they have policy of only chasing high margins, they'll lose to big name providers who run better services for lower operational cost and that's because CPI is simply uncompetitive.

AimM - 100% agree with you... CPI are just not currently competitive enough to win contracts on merit & price when up against other providers. From a prospective buyers POV they're no doubt seeing a poor reputation business (shot to pieces tbh) which now wants to flog a high price & high margin contract sale... required from buyers is a massive leap of faith, one clearly many unwilling to take.

CPI are classic case of a firm which has to go through the long process of rebuilding it's reputation but... they need to do it through a period in which the macroeconomics are significantly stacked up against them and I happen to think the macros will stress CPI so much that it buckles under the stress; either it'll be taken over, it'll go bust and the vultures will get to pick up the few good bits which remain or... AH will recognise it's too big a challenge and he'll seek out a merger.

Of course not! Hopefully the MOD get themselves a competent supplier to replace CPI👌

UnluckyInvestor9 - haha! Fair play... I bought just the one tranche in the end this last week (added to the 5x I'd already purchased)... I was considering a second buy but in the end I didn't go for it as I think we're still in for some turbulent weeks ahead where the SP will remain under downward pressure... next sets of UK GDP figs unlikely to be kind, as well as house price & inflation data too. EU will likely post yet more bad figs as well. Trump chaos atop!

So no particular rush to buy, buyers can be choosey about the price points they're purchasing at I reckon 👍 - I will buy more if prices are right 😎

Carrington - Totally get why as an existing JDW investor you feel like the pubs are busy and the stock will book you a return but... I happen to think UK citizens have utterly no comprehension of the sheer fiscal peril they're in the grip of. It's a case of keep going to the pub and putting everything into that overpriced house....
