Yes, the LSE has gotten itself a poor reputation and the decay has been caused by 14yrs of Tory mismanagement of the UK economy... on the exchange there definitely are some Zombie companies but VOD is most certainly not one of them.

Rising sales, healthy cash flow, upcoming merger for scalability efficiency benefits and certain growth coming in terms of market share. Buybacks currently in operation also in action at a good moment given the market turbulence.

Yes, the wider FTSE is being broadsided but VOD will be one of the battleships which emerges from the battle intact 👍😎

PRK1 - in your favour though is a pro business Labour Gov and Cornwall lacks good, big and profitable employers... if Labour are serious on growing Cornish economy to create more jobs then it's something they're rather likely to get behind backing as it would be a good news story for the region.

I've heard of Cornish metals... agree they'll make a mint if they can bring back Cornish mining that is. Definitely possible with the high demand for minerals for electronics and BEV's too. Though also definitely an investment with risk too.

I happen to think JO did probably sell but booked a loss, I reckon JO got board as at the time the stock was stuck doing very little for a period and to them taking the loss and buying in elsewhere was more interesting.

Danielh - buy backs are usually funded with available cash liquidity which the business has... what you've posted there is nonsense.

Buy backs return reward to investors by lifting the SP of the stock they're invested in... i.e. contributes towards raising Market Capitalisation because the cash is used to reduce volume of shares in circulation.

Naturally once spent the business will have fewer cash reserves remaining but usually that's planned for and the board will have conducted the buybacks forecasting their cash position once they're completed to leave ample day 2 day cash liquidity (unless the board of the business are inept or the business in the meantime is hit with a fiscal crisis - neither of which I believe are in play here for VOD right now, as results were decent).

I caveat that though with the fact the USA economy is doing well with only needing gentle rate cuts... so there's a decent floor beneath any further drops IMO

Yes the risk of GOV shutdown could push that floor a little downwards but it'll have a sturdy limit to how far I would reckon.

Unsure on the Dow... given it tanked on the Fed minutes... it'll possibly drop again in late trading but the big drop could be saved for tomorrow's session?
