I’ve been watching this share the past couple of weeks - and reading these comments.
I’d be interested who considers themselves an investor (ie longer term with a target price in mind) and who would call themselves a day-trader (/gambler?) hoping for a quick buck in a short space of time?
I’m not buying as I’ve not done research on the company. Share prices that rocket up (based on what news?) may easily rocket down…
You may say I’m losing out right now. But I might also win by not losing!
Yes, so the great and the good will work out how to minimise the risk in carrying EVs across the oceans.
Shipping companies (and their insurers) won’t want anything less.
Tech and people: sadly people will die. It’s happened with EV cars already. It happens with current technology. I’m sure aircraft designers are thinking about the risks - I can’t see the aviation industry wanting to lose its reputation as one of the safest forms of travel. Some mavericks may (and do) try (and fail) on their own.
Anyhow, here’s to vanadium flow as an alternative!
Felicity Ace… no report on the probable cause as yet.
Yea, no doubt exacerbated by all the EV batteries once the fire took hold. Is that bad design of the ship? Procedures not followed?
Read an article - fires on ships was an issue with ICE cars until they took action.
There is risk: it need to be managed appropriately just like any other.
Li-ion is going to be here for a good while; we’re just getting started. (Maybe we will have a VHS/Betamax moment at some point…)
…out of how many lithium ion batteries deployed globally?
Article behind paywall but I’d be keen to know if they have identified the root cause. One after five years and one after a few months… what changed recently I wonder…
[just an aside - does the image at the top of the article on graphene look AI-generated? It has an odd looking male: not a complete face, hands or legs/feet. And what exactly is he doing?! Maybe it’s a 2050 AI cyborg manufacturing Graphene-Li batteries…
More seriously, the battery is *Lithium* and Graphene.
Just more demand.
Fair point John - I was just countering the “but it’s fallen by a third in the past x days” - with it having risen by a third in the past y weeks.
I’m still waiting for it to reach 20p the some chart seemed to suggest. Of course it didn’t say when…
But, yeah, to your point, to develop the mine where’s the money coming from… and I don’t want to see my (tiny) slice of the pie become an even tinier slither.
DFS report “very shortly after” … so, as the way things go, ie things are never on time, maybe that’ll be in December sometime. Hopefully before Christmas. Or if it’s that late, may as well leave it ‘til after the holidays, i.e. into the new year…
Thanks Shelly, I appreciate you bringing discussion back down to earth (or up to the surface?).
Whilst I’m all for a 10-bagger, this being the greatest lithium mine in Europe, etc., a little realism as to where we are now (and have been for a while), keeps my thoughts … in check ;)
Thanks for the detailed reply JR and the reading recommendation, appreciated. I think I need to read it to understand exactly what you’re saying!
It seems on the up at the moment - and so I’m expecting to see many more comments that ‘now is the time’ …but we’ve been here before….
Cheers
Thanks JR but I as you might have guessed I’m a bit skeptical of charts.
What was it saying last year…?
I just want know when I’ll be back in profit on this one (it has a long at to go…) … I think I just have to be patient.
I think it must give KC a sense of purpose. I mean, it must be boring sitting around day after day with nothing happening and re-jigging the PowerPoint presentation for the umpteenth time by moving the dates of any future milestone
I think it will be a few years to get more factories up and running. To get to a 25k car from current factories will need those factories to be re-built (i mean install latest tech/fabrication) - which would interrupt current output. It's a slower burn... as ever with Musk on Tesla - promises promises...

From the article “A source close to BT also pointed out that Hottges, who also has a seat on BT’s board, said in Novemner: ‘Before taking over BT, let me tell you that we would first go for Orange, then KPN, then TeliaSonera and then BT.’” Barge pole and avoiding touching springs to mind.
