If the chancellor can save several billions then what's the problem - as I stick my neck out and say, as long as they choose RR for SMR!
As the article says, "However, the nascent technology remains commercially unproven, with a string of European countries and the US all currently pursuing their own individual competitions to fund the first examples of the technology." So, why spend double if you can get a solution for half the (current) budgeted spend?
We should have faith in RR's SMR solution...!
Perhaps they can cut back on the billions to be spent on Carbon Capture and Storage or Hydrogen projects.
