Well done Tombeef £45! That’s a lot. I think they are going to have to rename the Card Factory to the Balloon Factory. Be interesting to know the mark up on a balloon. I worked out (very roughly) that each shop has to make just under £200 a day profit to clear this £70M ie £70M/1000/7days. Some will make more of course and some less but this is what the Bod are planning and I think they will do it. If they are on target then we will find out soon and if how busy the shops are anything to go by (which of course they are) then they are going to smash it. Patience is all that is needed here.

The one at Washington really really busy as usual. Constant queue at the till fir the whole of the 20 mins I was outside eating my Greggs meal deal. Popped into the one in Sunderland on my way back from the baths but this time actually went in and earwigged at the till listening to how much people were buying. £11, £19 £12 couldn’t believe it. Almost everyone is walking out with big balloons characters or shiny gold/silver large numbers. Must be taking it in. Well we are going to find out soon.

Walked past The Works today and it was really busy. Must be because the kids are off school but I ain’t complaining! I don’t think this will double bag from here but it’s a nice safe place to keep your £ and my guesstimate is an easy 50% in the next 12 months.

I posted about 2 months about a conversation I had with the Card shop manager in Headingley whilst visiting my daughter in Leeds and she said that they were busier than before Covid and exceeding their targets. Just one shop of course but back home I still can’t believe how busy the one is in the local Galleries shopping centre in Washington. All good and Kevin don’t be a stranger.

Oh for sure, I would rather stick pins in my eyes than read versus in Birthday cards. I’ve got the wife down to just a birthday card now but I remember the early days when she also wanted a Valentines card and one year I bought her the identical card that I had bought the previous year! Ha ha Absolutely hopeless.

Funny story.
Years ago when I lived at home my Mam was exactly the same as my wife. She would present cards in front of me to write for different members of my family. She would have to nag me because I would keep saying yeah yeah yeah I Wildo I wildo. Anyhow one year my sister in law down in Wales received a completely blank card! She said she knew it was from me! Ha ha

Just read your post again accipiter it did make me laugh. Ha ha If someone so much as looks at my wife she will get them a card. She even sends cards to everyone on my side of the family. On the other hand (like you) reluctantly every friggin year (ha ha) I have to get her a birthday card. Remember that advert years ago, a guy buying a 6 pack of beer at the supermarket leans over the last minute as the beer is getting scanned at the till and grabs any card that has the word ‘wife’ on it? Well that’s me. Lol

Whilst researching Shoe Zone I could not believe how good the reviews were and that caused me a dilemma.
They are knocking it out of the park with their online sales for sure. Every 20 minutes there is another happy customer (unlike WRKS) but then whilst checking out the local CARD factory shop I would pass the Shoe Zone shop and apart from that shoplifter I told you about it was always empty? Anyhow good luck with it mate. Are you in CARD aswell?

Nick-Bris almost daily the buys outnumber the sells by £100,000+ Look at today’s £280,000 buys vs £140,000 sell. Something had to give.

Saying that it will most probably drop by 7% tomorrow! but none of that matters because this time next year this will be double what it is now. IMO.

As you know decided to try and build up a position in Shoe Zone after the owners bought £1million each at 80p but the price wouldn’t budge. Whilst waiting I stalked the local Shoe Zone out but for the life of me I could never find anybody in there? I decided to sell (77p) just before the drop thank goodness. I do wish you well of course you know that.

I did out of curiosity add it to my watch list and have been reading the discussion board. It looked promising but as you know, to buy a share you have to sell another and couldn’t bring myself to do it but well done you mate it took a lot of courage to sell your beloved Saga. Bet you wish you had bought more now though! Good luck.

Hi onesharewonder being so heavily invested I have became a bit of a shopping centre stalker and can’t help but notice that the shops you mentioned never have anybody in them? The worst by far is Shoe Zone.
In contrast the Card Factory always has a queue at the till. The latest craze seems to be helium balloons. Some of these are £15 each so the mark up must be huge.

Well in complete contrast me and the Missus went to the Metro Centre (Gateshead) on Saturday night and had to queue to get into Zizzis because it was so busy. Went for a walk round the centre (as you do) ad as really really busy. Not sure were Rushden Lakes is but here in the North East everybody is getting back out and starting to live again.
The next uplift as I see it for the High St is getting people back to work and out of Furlough and working from home. Once back in the office they will start spending all the £ they have saved whilst stuck at home.
