RE: Fuel Cell Breakthrough21 Sep 2018 16:59
Hi BumbleB,
I feel that they should shout about it, simply because other far newer to fuel cells companies, especially of the cheaper none platinum type are doing so.
Whilst I agree that it is industry that they should mainly aim their strategy at, it is often the power of the general public, especially on green issues that can motivate the industries that will become AFC customers.
One only has to look how the plastics industry and their customers have only just started to get their acts together, mainly because of one TV programme (planet Earth) which caused a public outcry.
The latest is Walkers Crisps, who have stated they will change all their plastic packaging by 2025.
A protest petition has taken off, so I should think that Walkers will not wait till 2025. I appreciate that packaging is not connected to AFC in any way, just using this as an example of people power.
I have even heard politicians talk about the expense of fuel cells due to the use of platinum and read several media articles which state the same issues, all within the last 2 to 3 years.
Surely over the last 3 years AFC could have shouted a bit louder about their product, after all they were obtaining MOU's several years ago, even regarding their final product.
The general public have for years condemned the pollution caused by energy production and yet here we have a green energy production system where the only by product is water.
Perhaps their quietness has allowed some less beneficial power providers to sell their products as recently as this year, whereas perhaps said companies would have stuck with their old systems, whilst waiting for the AFC system.
Of course that is only supposition on my part.
Try speaking to people about fuel cells and most people have not heard of them, and those that have probably have no idea of how effective they can be or their lack of pollution output (yes I appreciate they will probably fall asleep half way through).
