Thanks for sharing MODernMan. That was great exposure for Melody. For those who missed it, the feature was called unboxing and the unboxing was of the Oculus Go. Much was made of the lack of wires and low price point. As MODernMan says the app they used to demo the Go was Melody. They showed the ability to move to different jump points. They also, pointed out the opportunity for bands to sell gigs to millions. There were positive comments about sound. Couple of gripes about feeling like floating (less of a gripe more of a general comment) and wanting more depth from the sound but they said you can use headphone. Overwhelming positive and great exposure!

I’m expecting a drip feed of new content ramping in artist popularity and culminating in some big live shows in the summer. I’m not expecting a big dump of new artists in mid May. New content will drive usage to better to drive drip feed. IMO.

I’ve not counted but there are about 20 different artists, most of whom have between 10-20 songs. The range of artists is broad: Niall Horan to the Who. We know that they have recorded over 600+ artists many of whom they’ve tweeted about and not released on the app so the launch is clearly a soft launch and further content will be released which will, in turn, promote the brand.

I think there need to be enough headsets in circulation first. Now we know the product is good, The number of Oculus Go sold is the most important metric for me.

Simple as. £9.99 for a 15 set list, no problem.

And to think backpeople have been moaning about marketing strategies. What better way to promote!

Surely Oculus would take the margin hit, not retailers. That’s wouldn’t be a great sales strategy. Oculus/Facebook have a huge amount to gain selling these at no margin or even a loss (which I doubt they are). For me the unknown demand is more compelling.

I’ve had an email saying that I will receive mine tomorrow and I ordered on release. I do wonder why the Go hasn’t been advertised more heavily by Oculus/Facebook but I’m sure this will ramp up.
