I wouldn't have high expectations. Its incredibly difficult for overseas businesses to enter the Chinese market, nevermind the Chinese tech market. I think Melody would need to partner with a local company and content would almost certainly need to moderated and bespoke. That's all before thinking about getting your profits out. Complex stuff but I'm sure they're thinking about it. Maybe that's where the 7m Admin fees came from :)
Interesting thought KoK. I've been quite focused on Melody's Twitter follows. I still think it's a useful metric and indicative of brand recognition but your right, it's not like an artist, why would you follow a platform content provider?
I'm sure you cry yourself to sleep at night like the rest of us.
It's sad how all message boards on the internet deteriorate into what's happened here. No matter which side, you're all complicit. This used to be a rich and varied board, full of opinions and debate. I don't expect anyone to care but after two years of contributing, I'm checking out. The last couple of months have followed a pattern for me, check the board at the end of the day and read the kind of stuff you'd expect on the playground.

It was fine when used it earlier this evening and again just now.
... that guy a week or two ago who said he sold out at about 5 after 2 years only to break even. He must be really kicking himself. Struck me as a odd thing to do to stay in for two years and sell just before the app RNS.
The festival link certainly is a pull. Look at the rates of festival attendance in recent years. Glastonbury sold out in record time this year, on an increased capacity. Attendance Is more or less limited to location (generally UK only). Wireless is a popular festival with high levels of demand. if they can successfully pull this off it's huge opportunity. The potential revenue models this company has are mind blowing. Its all underpinned by engagement and that's the big unknown . Looking for momentum now. We can all do our bit by engaging.
....Just happened.
I remember them announcing that they'd been filming this. It was well over a year ago, back when they'd say who they'd been filming. Just shows how much content they're sat on. Clearly things are beginning to move again.
He's on here too
I recall that campaign, it was an odd one. They used huge stars but it was very late for Christmas (Mid to late Dec if i recall). I just find it an odd marketing strategy. If you have access to the worlds biggest advertising platform and amazing data, why wouldn't you advertise the product prior to and follow launch, that's how to build the buzz (like Playstation). To be clear I mean from Oculus. Melody will be promoted by proxy.
Has anyone seen any advertising yet? This is what threw me last time with the Go, little to no advertising. I can't work out why, given the depth of FB pockets, there isn't/wasn't more advertising.
I'd think tomorrow is more likely, given that this is the official release date of the Quest. Although i note that some have shipped. Keep you eyes peeled for reviews and launch apps.
How can you work out their cash burn if you don't know what their revenue will be? You don't know, i don't know, so let's not pretend we do. The appeal of this business for me had always been the model and it's potential ability to generate cash. 1.2m without really doing much is good. You state opinion like it's fact. That said, I'm extremely grateful you are here to constantly warn us long holders!
This happened prior to launch on the GO.
If this is the the short closing, can someone speculate the effect on the share price?
Let's see in 8 days. I know we've been at "let's see" for some time now but if we are governed by NDA's, that could very well expire on the 21st May, then a lot will become clearer. I'm as frustrated as anyone and, like others, significantly down but I will wait for the fog to lift. I'm sure there is a reason for this, a strategy makes far more sense than incompetence but we shall see. If we have no news in the next month then i'll join your in your long term pessimism but i don't see that happening.
So neither of your think it's worth waiting 7 days to see what happens with the Quest?
Great, glad to see your altruism.
Ssmith_trader are you a shareholder? I'm trying to work out your agenda. It doesn't appear to be helpful advice and you can't be shareholder.
