The government have protected the elderly and vulnerable with vaccines but many of those people aren't particularly active as they aren't working. The younger age group and working people are much more active and many of them are unvaccinated. These new variants are much more aggressive and can affect young healthy people more badly. I would like to be positive about it, but I think if I were in government I would now delay opening things up fully until June/July when the majority have been vaccinated.

The vaccines will work against all variants? Not necessarily, flu vaccine has to be reformulated every year. There is currently little data on tbe effectiveness of vaccines against the Indian variant. What about countries where vaccine take up is low? Does the vaccine provide 100% protection?? There are still a lot of unknowns.

Trouble with the UK is that we do not value tech stocks as we do not take a long term view. US investors understand tech stocks better and will happily pour tens of billions into a high risk high tech stock like Tesla which may take years to turn a profit. Gw Pharma is now a multibillion takeover target and they delisted from Aim and went over to Nasdaq years ago.

Regarding DHSC and government orders there is an interesting article in the Guardian today about a small firm called Norvap who were told by the government to make ventilators along with Dyson and others. They spent money building the machines but then the government reneged on promises to buy them. There are countries like Mexico who would happily buy the ventilators but the government has left no route by which the ventilators can get emergency approval!!!! DHSC changing their minds?

Well you know the solution to shorters. A coordinated buying spree a la Gamestop. That would force them to buy back in at any price. Lets squueeze em so hard their eyes pop out.

Interesting article in the financial times today saying some people in London who have received one vaccine shot are testing positive for the SA variant and they are worried vaccines are not as effective against it. PcR is being used to pick up these variant cases, presumably that is Novacyt's multiplex?? Now wouldn't it be ironic if there is a problem with vaccine resistant variants and the DHSC does a u turn and decides it does need Novacyt's PCR machines...

All the big diagnostic companies are awash with cash. Some say that Novacyt having a dispute with their biggest customer would deter a takeover, but is a moment of weakness. Buffett was very keen on buying into companies at moments of weakness.

As the saying goes even dead cats bounce.... if this doesn't start to change direction soon I intend to cheat and will tie the share price to some bungee cord.

Black Rock and all the other II's for that matter will be wanting to speak to management and understand what has happened here before doing anything. From the Independent article I get the impression that the government has decided it wants to go for fast and easy tests rather than PCR testing at point of care. Govt wants mass LFT testing leaving PCR tests to the superlabs. So it is not so much a case of the Novacyt product not working, but rather the issue is cost, time and need for trained personnel and specialist equipment.

Dont forget that Vatel may well be dumping their shares as they are sat on pure profit and were only recently free to sell from 31st March. At some point it will bounce.
