Absolutely agree the company need the cash, but they also shouldn't close the door to dividends or buyback. It should be kept under review.

Incidentally, when it comes to investment, i'm not a fan of laissez faire. Momentum can be both positive and negative. Both shareholders and the markets do need spoon feeding on a regular basis. That's why management don't usually like PI's. They often find us revolting. But at the end of the day they are well paid and they have to be called to account because it is our money and our business.

Why should the company be on the defensive? Because of they do nothing it suggests the fall in share price is warranted. A simple single paragraph RNS stating that the company is carry out a strategic review and considering all options as to how to best employ it's cash reserves including buybacks, special dividend, acquisition or organic growth. Without actually committing anything, the mere possibility of a dividend or buyback would have been sufficient to stop shorting activity and would have cost the company nothing.

In Israel they are onto third booster shots yet hospitalisations and cases are still rising despite ratively high levels of vaccination. Vaccinations are greatly reducing the number of serious cases, but they are still having problems and can't rule out the need for lockdowns. When politicians say we have to learn to live with covid as we do with flu, we are basically guinea pigs. Delta has a much higher mortality rate than flu and is much more contagious. Time will tell.

If you look across the world at the covid situation things are getting worse in many countries and it now seems likely that the fight against covid may continue for years. That Novacyt as a diagnostic stock is faring so badly is strange. Despite the lack of figures and updates I find it hard to believe with the way things are that the figures will be bad.

Actually I would suggest in the case of Novacyt that shareholders DO NOT VOTE at this AGM. In the past they have struggled to get enough shareholders to cast their votes to comply with the French listing rules. They then have to go chasing us shareholders to cast our votes. It might then focus the attention of management on the need to keep shareholders happy. The problem with Novacyt now is that they have no debt and no need to tap shareholders for funds, no doubt management think they can just do as they please.

Blame S P Angel and Numis who are currently valuing Novacyt on the basis of demand for covid testing being short lived and this being the bulk of Novacyt's business. As if demand will suddenly fall off a cliff and tbe business will go back to where it was precovid. That is effectively a valuation based on cash at bank not far off parity between market cap and cash. No other biotech business in history has been valued so conservatively. I think the analysts and the markets are grossly undervaluing Novacyt and that there is much more longevity in Covid testing alone, not even allowing for the future and the wider market for diagnostics and other products.

Shorts panicking?

I tend to think there will be some significant news on several fronts before the meeting. They cant announce siginificant news to the market at the meeting, it has to be RNS'd. So, what questions are peeps wanting answered? I think a big one is how long do they anticipate the demand for Covid testing to continue because many experts are now saying Covid isn't going to suddenly disappear nor is it necessarily going to become a mild illness though over time treatments may improve?

Ecuador is in a sweet spot for copper exploration at the moment and will be attracting a lot of attention from majors due to recent discoveries like Alpala and the massive Warintza discovery (Solaris Resources). It has long been thought that Ecuador might be as highly endowed as Chile and this would appear to be the case.

I would be careful not to read too much into it without more detail. Mullis is a multi millionaire and may have decided he wants to enjoy life before he pegs it. He may also be totally stressed out by the sheer volume of work over the last 12 months. He would certainly fall into the category of people for whom covid has turned their world upside down, that often leads to some reassessment of priorities. I would not blame him for the DHSC dispute as we know there are several such disputes. Good luck to him in any event, he certainly put Novacyt in a position to play an important part in covid testing and on the path to becoming a leading diagnostics company.

Actually this level has held for a long time, the weak hands have gone. With half yearly results and update due, news is imminent. Covid still seems to be getting worse most places and even with vaccines it looks like there is going to be extremely high demand for testing persisting much longer than many analysts were predicting only a few months ago. The share price is bombed out. If I were a betting man I would say more likely double from here quickly on good news than sink further. But do the shorters have inside info we don't?

Why would a stock lose 20% on news like that? Especially Novacyt which is already bombed out. Mullis is retiring. You can read anything you want into that, good or bad.
Judging by the derampers comments today I reckon someone is desperate to get the SP under £3. A nice round number that might be a stop loss for many holders. Personally, I'm awaiting half yearly results, update and forecast.

I really do hope that is the strategy and this is the new man to do it. I remember when GW pharma listed on Nasdaq and the share price multibagged. Everything in the UK is a short term view, the US are much keener on tech stocks and value them on future profit potential.

Because it is very hard to get approval from FDA. They take ages to deal with applications and take issue with the most minor details and they are particularly hard on foreign businesses which may explain why Novacyt incorporated Novacyt Inc in the US. Having said that, the US is a very good market if and when they get approval.

Usually at the point you are most frustrated is the point at which the share price starts to recover. Novacyt is a strange one, the whole covid thing is surreal. The share price has rocketed enormously already, no surprise then that it is consolidating. I would have expected the demand for testing to be waning and covid coming to an end soon, but actually the opposite seems to be the case. A lot will become clearer over the next few months as covid vs vaccines plays out.

This is a potential tier 1 orebody with the backing of two majors. I can't see Newmont walking away especially with what has been found at Buritica.

Markets are a blood bath today and Novacyt is one of the few stocks up. Novacyt is a safe haven stock as fears over covid increase. And with a p/e ratio of around 1.8 and no debt it offers low risk and high value.
