Effectively they are forcing the hand of any other would be suitor. If anyone else wants to bid, they will have to do so fast, and now sufficient shares have been tied up by preconditions that any offer would need to be over £25 a share. Most tech business models are based on monopolising and dominating their marketplace. They can't allow an independent operator to build a large competitive position. This is all clever brinksmanship.

Yes, maybe, but it could well flush out another bidder who, under the terms of this agreement, would have to pay £25 a share. Many of the tech titans work on the basis that they have to buyout smaller competitors before they become a threat....

GGP was derisked at about 1.8p. It took ages for the markets to grasp the size of the discovery and the fact that most of the infrastructure to mine is already at Telfer. It will still retest 36p at some point.

There were signs with SXX early on that all was not well. I sold out at about 19p. The finance director resigned after only a few weeks in the job which made me suspicious as to whether the finances were cooked, plus the planning delays and requirement to build a very long tunnel between mine and port, plus the fact that none of the majors took an interest early on, plus the price of potash had fallen, plus there was talk of the potash mine at Boulby closing just a little further up the coast. I avoid investing in junior explorers unless they have a major partnered with them. Majors are only interested in tier 1 resources and have access to the billions of capital needed to build a mine.

What makes you think a capital raise would depress the share price? When Solgold had good drill results at the outset they did fundraising to pay for further drilling and the fundraisings were at a significant premium driving the share price much higher very quickly and culminating in Newcrest and BHP building stakes in the company.

With two majors on board funding exploration, if it is tier 1 orebody (the size and scale of which dictate tens of billions of pounds worth of ore) it will multibag from here and what it's worth will depend on the value of what is in the ground and what it costs to extract. The lawyers will want their cut of the cake so they will string things out as long as they can. But I can't see the DHSC pursuing it with any conviction, it is taxpayers money they are arguing over, not their own hard earned cash so they won't be bothered. I also don't think DHSC want any of these contracts in the public domain and they will want it put to bed asap.

NO, the Novacyt machines were validated by government and are in use elsewhere. I think it is just a matter of someone in the DHSC panic ordering a shed load of Novacyt point of care PCR machines and then deciding they don't really want or need them because they decided to buy cheap mass produced Chinese Innova LFT tests which are fast, cheaper and dont need trained staff to operate. They are less accurate, but this doesn't seem to matter to the DHSC. Having gone down the LFT route, the DHSC are then trying to claim that the Novacyt machines weren't up to the job. So they claim Novacyt are in breach of contract and the DHSC don't have to pay. We now know there are several such contracts DHSC are disputing, the only one I know of settled so far, the DHSC have paid in full.

A pe ratio of 1.76 is crazy for a biotech stock. This is a very cheap share atm.

Best thing that could happen now would be if the brokers did some number crunching and said this is way undervalued and there will be a bright future for Novacyt post covid, though demand for covid testing may continue for years to come. £90m+ cash at bank, £70m revenue outstanding which may be paid in full (as it has been with the other settled DHSC dispute), £100m plus revenue this next year. New products set to launch, further expansion..

A 10% drop the day before results is odd, especially off the back of the 20%+ rise yesterday and a rise first thing this morning. If the saying that the market price is the sum of everything everybody in the market knows about a share is true, a 10% drop the day before results drop is a bad sign. Management, those working for the company, accountants, lawyers would all have inside knowledge.

I think the BOD now need to be very careful how they tread with shareholders now. On past experience they need our support on rare occasions to get votes through. I think they have positioned and scaled up the business well to cater for testing for covid but they haven't communicated well with shareholders for months nor done much to support the share price when it has been under attack from shorters.

It had better be a good RNS. I don't want to see any vague dithering comments about it not being possible to give any guidance on future orders. Management also need to explain what is going on with the DHSC dispute. I also want them to set out their growth plans post covid and what they intend to do with their cash reserves.

Expenses may have risen but don't forget that money makes money. For a small fast growing company, being highly cash generative and having tens of millions sat in the bank is a fantastic position to be in and hopefully Novacyt will set out plans to catapult the business forwards.

There are winners and losers. It's not about how good or bad your product is, it is about who you know and how much money you can stuff in a brown envelope.

Two of my best investments were Solgold and GGP. Solgold was the worst performing share in my portfolio, but it ended up a 20 bagger as did GGP. GGP was weird because the share price was sub 2p for months despite stunning early drill results and the market just didn't get it. With exploration shares I look for tier 1 prospects where majors are buying in. OMI may well come good, it is just a case of doing a lot more drilling and understanding the geology.
