One thing for sure no amount of sweet talking is going to cut it here. The softly, softly approach would simply be seen by the CWU as weakness and encourage them to bite the hand that feeds their members.
It's essential the Company resolve this issue once and for all. The bi-annual so called negotiations are nothing of the sort. They are threat and counter threat that erodes trust and affects the Company income and it's ability to reward employee/shareholders accordingly.
