I only read the abstract from Mat and you are reading the full report ? I assume that Ifn beta + means interferon adequate prognostic good ifn beta - interferon deficient prognostic not good . I can not find the full report but I understand your problem unless it might simple error in the publication got their signs mixed up or just published conflicting evidence (unlikely )

The blood sample/nasal swab would be detecting interferon levels and is independent of virus replication As gkp refers to its a biomarker for disease outcome I was just questioning why a swab and not a blood sample Either way its an important diagnostic step forward ATB

I am not a clinician Mat but why would they test the nasal mucosa for beta deficiency as a prognosis of outcome for critical patients when they could take a blood sample earlier in the development of disease to establish interferon status .I am sure there is a good reason ATB

FT may condemn the company but what do they Know ?Holography is used in medicine and the company has come with a brilliant concept with a developed by physicists ,engineers and AI ingenuity It is no threat in my view to conventional diagnostics because they are the gold standard now and years to come and are established in accredited Standard Operating Procedures in medicine .Still it might be something just like taking your temperature ?

Cassanova et al have published fantastic work over the last 12 months and this case albeit rare show beta interferon as disease specific in this condition Why has this not received more recognition

Yes Dexa saved million lives globally and 20000 in UK which is fantastic achievement ,but it just leaves a big lump in the throat if we had support fro GoV and other scientists to have fast tracked this treatment months ago what could have resulted in a much lower mortality rate for the UK . Being involved in this journey has left me feeling exasperated but resigned to plod on

Half population protected just quoting what the media tells us Protection is just saying old gits like me will not die of severe disease or need hospitalization unfortunately not everyone will be afforded such protection and as you say you can get infected after vax therefore its not the silver bullet conferring 100% protection or reducing transmission by 100% that another reason to be invested here ATB

The frustration is trying to manage expectation The overwhelming Scientific consensus postulates that role of beta interferon in Covid The second wave is almost over , half the UK population are protected by vaccination and .Dexameth has saved 20000 UK lives and a million globally, competition from big Pharma is prevalent ,UK has the highest mortality rates in the world and posters ask if any news on two patients .I can understand their frustration for sure while Sng001 is proven to be safe “sits on the lab bench” and is being rigorously scrutinised I am still here I am still invested only because the treatment will be hopefully be available to save many lives in Europe/US and the rest of the world and If it wasn’t for third wave and emergence of problematic variants then perhaps I would not be invested Hopefully good news soon ……ATB

Agreed we hold all the aces just need to start playing them soon . If Pfizer's antiviral doesn't work very well orally or I/V the could try it direct nebulized to the lungs .They tried that with remdes don't think it achieved anything significant

very concerning the virus as with vaccines is evading the interferon response However nebulised IFN beta remains as a very effective treatment against the variants All these studies are in vitro on cell lines and further studies in vivo may need to be replicated to confirm these findings .Its just something else with this blasted virus to worry about but hopefully just as the virus evolves so can our innate /genetic immunity is able to adapt
