VM, why is that then? Vaccines do not stop the spread. That’s a fact. The r value of the delta variant is estimated at above 5 possibly 8. Even with reduced spread thanks to vaccines, it will exponentially grow throughout the population, another fact. At that point , it’s a numbers game. The vaccines aren’t 100% effective, that’s a fact. So that equals an awful lot of hospitalised and dead people.

As for anti-vax, I had my second jab today, so **** you. I’m pro maths and the numbers speak for themselves. We need vaccines, but we also need a lot of testing to stop the spread, to stop mutations and to stop a summer wave and a bunch of dead people, seems reasonable to me.

The govt are about to take a risk on a numbers game and accept a load of deaths. They’re hoping to wipe out enough in the summer so that the winter wave doesn’t overwhelm the NHS. Lovely people.

There’s no debate here. Nasal swabbing is standard and AN is the simplest of them all. Affimers are superior to aptamers. We have the best test. It’s proven.

I mean, come on. It’s clearly streets ahead. The U.K. govt are absolute clowns for ignoring this and continuing to waste cash on Chinese garbage. They simply have to procure it for public services. Given the prevalence of delta, this has to be the penultimate tick in the box, they just need a decimal point on the specificity figure and it’s by far and away, given the sample type, the best on the planet.

Expect a hefty third wave and expect a lot of people to suffer - never mind deaths, there'll be a lot with long covid. Incidentally, why bother with 'test events' if they're planning on opening everything up anyway? Plus the additional chances of mutations. You can only hope that some sense arrives. I understand not aiming for zero covid, but regular testing isn't much of an imposition and keeps everyone as safe as possible. I'm not sure that sticking your head in the sand and pretending it's not happening is such a wonderful plan, Singapore plan to do exactly that and then just not report death figures. Madness.
