Aim - could not agree more with your comments, and have acted in accordance. Too many knee-jerkers on here ready to knock the BOD for the slightest reason - we were given every indication in the previous RNS that to get first gas in Q4 would prove "challenging" - and in the scheme of things, what is another month or so to wait for the advent of first gas? I am no technical expert in field of O & G, but the issues at Bacton with the erosion problem and an outdated infrastructure always appeared to be a lengthy refurbishment job to restore the reception facility to being fit for purpose. With the repaired HND rig back in place at Southwark and work commencing on the drilling plus the golden backdrop of sky high oil prices - I am struggling to find anything "bad" in this RNS. Having shown the faith for several years and continued to add to my investment in the dark days of no funding with the SP at 10/12p there will be no toys thrown out of this particular pram. GLA

robiz - I think that the BOD and management team at IOG are fully aware of this! As lemming suggests some hedging for Jan/Feb delivery at current prices would not be a bad idea.

Widened out now with a number of smaller trades and 30p is now being paid with 30.44 to Buy. Just scraped in for a little top-up at under 30p. This will move on until next RNS and the content will determine further progress.

frog - we have cruised past 28p like the HND sailing towards Southwark, as forecasted. Even these MMs cannot hold back the tide forever. Scored - that is an important message you have spotted there, and will help to counter the refusal of "green" minded investors to back anything related to fossil fuels. We might feel an all-round sense of release now and move on upwards as we should have done some time ago.

Good news on the rig towing operation, and will be fascinating to hear reports on the pre-drilling procedures.
We are still 29p to Buy, although more is being paid for the larger tranches, and a very narrow spread for the sellers.

..........and now massive late trade for 443k shares is a Sell, probably by the consistent recent seller whose shares are being gobbled up readily!

rhino - you can normally read them from the pattern of trades, but today was big volume on a tight spread for this share. There were a few monster buys in there at top dollar, and this is becoming more the norm as we approach news release.

Just tested the Bid and was offered 92.75p for 100k shares. This is the strongest market we have seen for a long time and means one thing - they want your shares! ... goes without saying, they are NOT having mine!

Trust - you've climbed on one of my hobby horses there! We have a strange set of MMs for sure - all they have to do to avoid confusion is to raise the offer by half a penny or so, and then investors can see the real picture. At present they seem to want to preserve a glass ceiling at 28p, in spite of a consistent raft of Buys at that price! Defies normal trading logic.

scored - its a mystery to all of us and I don't think you are missing anything. But - not the first time that the wider market has missed an obvious play, and I think we need that very positive headline announcement that spells out the good news in no uncertain terms in order to make a difference. It needs to be strong enough to penetrate the opinion-forming pages in the financial sections of the national press and broadcasting media - and to focus primarily on the importance of a new gas supplier to the UK market at a time of maximum requirement. One check on the current gas prices should do the rest!

Meanwhile, back in the cosy trading rooms they have narrowed the spread to 27.7/27.85p. One or two hefty swipes from a bullish buyer and we should cruise past 28p later this week as news arrives.

They are paying 27.60 all day long against a heavy raft of Buys, so just cannot understand why the MMs continue to hold the apparent spread?
