Good points Mole, and like you I am wondering why IOG have not made a move assisted by CalE financial backing for an acquisition that closely matches their ambition for greater gas resources in the later phases - especially while Hartshead are short of working capital? Noting how AA of KIST is hawkish and bold on relevant takeover targets, I would not be surprised to see IOG upstaged by himself?

He references the Saturn Banks field and explains the massive carbon difference between imported LNG and the natural gas content - adding that a windfall tax on UK gas producers would be wrong and unproductive at this important stage in our own energy supply chain.

mole - as you have done some research on Hartshead, what does their proven gas resource look like? If it is a viable volume, the oceanography looks interesting, and the CalE backing crucial for any future expansion?
Today's trading shows an important shift in our current market resilience as we took a weighty 400k Sell on the chin and still progressed upwards 2.5%.

New investors will be unconcerned by a rising price - as, with imminent news combined with forecasted winter gas prices, this is still looking a cheap share.

GiGS and Sailor - many thanks for the explanatory posts to throw some light on the rig problems at Southwark. What sort of time delay would you anticipate for the drilling to re-commence?

Having run my own PR Agency for some 40 years, I soon learnt one basic truth that never changes - if you have a good story in the locker, never mix it with a potentially negative one and spoil max effect! IOG have a lot to learn about PR practice in general in terms of timing and content, but this is NOT one of those occasions.

I make Sailor 100% right in his attempt to avoid further blame game discourse on the hitch with rig stability at Southwark. One thing I have learnt as a rookie in offshore gas technology is the extremely tricky and hazardous procedures that precede the final extraction of gas from subsea wells. As such I will always cut some slack to those who undergo the dangers involved. But I do understand the sensitivity of the AIM market to any perceived hiccup - and if you believe in the project you either hold firm or regard the marginal drop in SP as a re-investing opportunity. If of interest, I have taken the latter course at a surprising level of 34p.

Latest count is 46 Lemmie - not bad, but it will be like a sauna when that first gas is announced. Weeks not months normally means less than 2 months, so have booked an early Spring break at sunny Bacton-on-Sea.

DavidH - no expert in the wider field with all my eggs in the IOG basket - but always looking sideways at KISTOS whose CEO was the boss of Rock Rose when they made a cheeky bid for IOG. That particular ship has probably left the harbour, and I did Buy/Sell at a good profit early last year, but others have made an awful lot more, and they are promising yet further growth. All IMHO, but if funds were available I would be topping up again on IOG as the imminent announcement of first gas is bound to spark off another hike in SP.

In terms of trade numbers, the last 4 months of 2021 comfortably outstripped the previous 8 months total - naturally enough as more progress was reported and first gas became a closer reality.
Late reported Sell for 500k was almost certainly an Institution, and they have been understandably quiet of late as higher levels of SP are generally expected. PIs Buying are still very much in the ascendancy, and tomorrow's opening show will be interesting after a day of very tight spreads. GLA

Sell at 37.3 Buy at 37.90 for the true spread, and would settle for a closing mark of 37 to establish a new level as profit takers are inevitable to some degree.

The early RNS this week stated confidently that the hitch with the rig at Southwark was minor and would be fixed in a matter of days - and so it has! Makes the knee-jerk negative reactions that we frequently get from posters to the slightest hiccup look rather puerile. Good market reaction this morning, and we end a year of significant progress on all fronts in positive mood. With work continuance now in place on the Second Phase, we look forward to another ground-breaker in first gas announcements for early 2022. It is a good place to be in - and I repeat my very good New Year wishes to the IOG working team and to all fellow investors for 2022!!

Best to listen to the experienced and technically astute interpretations of Sailor, GGiS and Pipe in these situations rather than the frustrations aired as a result of an RNS that declares the problem and suggests that the glitch should be cured within a few days. As for forecasting being "worthless" gator, we all do it when we invest. I did openly declare my hand around the 27.50 mark to make this a definite buy, and even with a marginal drop todays that is a fair profit if you choose to trade. Still holding in the main for the anticipated news of drilling work re-commencing at Southwark plus first gas news naturally.
