is thin at 34.26/34.30 so MMs encouraging trade. Need a few chunky confident Buys to send this up the ladder.

Over 1m shares traded but a number of mistaken definitions, including my own late top-up Buy. With virtually no spread for a hours, it is bound to happen. Still a head-scratcher as to why we dropped considering all the positive sign posts? Better day tomorrow perhaps.

Just announced German Chancellor to refuse permission for the Nordstream pipeline to cross German territory. Another plus for UK gas producers, and I have one in mind! Zero spread either way on a very busy day at 34.65p demands another top-up IMHO.

Offshore updates much appreciated by all Sailor - I was first call for 50k top-up @ 34.99 and happy to do so. Very interesting times ahead.

Sailor - at least more certainty on the method to get re-drilling at Southwark and some clear definition for a very short delay on Back gassing programme and first gas at Bacton. It's clarity at last, which is what the market likes, and I can see a steady rise in Sp through the next fortnight.

Sailor - thanks for the updates, and seems like more work required at Blythe before any announcements. Low volume whilst delays are a reality, but can Buy 50k @ 34.5 and Sell 50k @ 34.02. Keep safe in the wind - both on and off shore!

scored - some nice little buys coming in has re-livened the market and they will accommodate Sells for 50k @ 34.02, and 34.85 to buy, so wider spread and a lot more liquidity than yesterday. Looking to next week now for news.

Sailor -Thanks for adding to our understanding of current operations. Meanwhile, BOD still don't appear to acknowledge that the market does not like no news when news was scheduled, and that will always have a negative drag on the SP - so trading now very muted with no quotes available for Sells, although most of today's thin number of trades are Buys around the 34.12p level. Any views on the reasons for delay GiGS?

a selling day today, which I put down to the delay in issuing news, and likely to continue whilst the BOD continue to drag their heels. But - resilience is there, as shown by the late Buy for 150k shares, and probably a PI who still regards this SP as unrealistic.

viable - I doubt it! As you know these II trades go on in a different universe, but there should be a declared adjustment on individual holdings. More concerned with the 350k Sell which looks like an order placed, fulfilled and not declared until after the bell.

scored- if they were "working" a trade it would obviously be the 350k hit after the bell. Like you, I was wondering why the Bid was being held down in the face of consistent PI buying, and it would be a disgrace if a delay was announced on the back of it. The monster 5m was certainly an institution sale and exchange at 36.20. Interesting week ahead!

is narrow again with PI Buyers leading the way, as usual. 36.075p being paid for rare Sells and the momentum needs to be maintained for those that anticipate the right sort of news in the pipeline!

frog - as it was my game for over 40 years I have dealt with the PR issue in numerous posts, and offered advice which has been consistently ignored. I have kept the faith with the investment as a believer, but this is a weakness which has held back investor knowledge and confidence in the company. When news is delivered imminently I do trust that they will make a proper and detailed launch about the great news of a UK based company producing natural gas for the UK market at a crucial time and not think of diluting the message with details of drilling progress or otherwise at Southwark. That one should very obviously be kept for a future RNS. GLA and have a relaxing weekend!

of Buy/Sells on here today. 38 trades but low total volume, and 120k Buys was around half of them. Need some positives in the next RNS!

article in todays DT Business section by Tim Eggar Chairman of O & G Authority laying out the case for no windfall tax which would be self-defeating, and the overwhelming sense of encouraging UK natural gas supply against expensive and higher carbon imports.

Low volume today with just 95k Buys by my calcs. As remarked by frog, we seem to have a glass ceiling at 36p at present. Roll on the news!

scored - only good news that the O & G development fields off Shetland and mid North Sea have been given the green light with sense at last prevailing in the government's energy policy. IOG not directly affected, but a welcome focus on the importance of facilitating the UK supply in the near term.

wolster - the principle is to extract some benefit from the current talking shop whilst the timing of both delivering natural gas and the reality of sky high prices are perfectly aligned. So - do it professionally and effectively and anticipate questions about carbon footprint by telling the true story about gas being the most efficient "bridge fuel" on our way towards net zero. I am hopeful that further positive news of the drilling programme at Southwark will not detract from the main theme.

Think we all agree that in terms of communication to the market and general PR activity, IOG have failed to toe the line and engage proper media contact expertise when needed. If the dates confirmed in the Jan 25 RNS hold firm, I would want to see a proper PR launch and press conference/city luncheon implemented where key media personnel and opinion formers are invited. As gas and energy prices are such a hot topic, this presents a great opportunity to highlight the importance of IOG and its future strategy to a far wider audience of both consumers and investors.

Good post Thinker, especially in relation to the strategic importance of a UK gas supplier based in UK waters, and the importance of protecting the asset in times of global uncertainty. The delay in first gas announcements is creating some impatience for certain investors and causing the SP to drift when we should be surging. BOD need to press all the buttons right now and strike with a hot iron!
