Actually citizen there have been plenty of opportunities, and if you had read the posts on here you would have seen them pinpointed. As gator has referred, it would have done no harm to be starting from a higher rung when the big story breaks.

Well, if you boys are missing something - so is the market!! I have been here for nearly 5 years and I am just as confused at the lack of market reaction to current stats.
And mole - much as I appreciate your general comments on progress here, just cannot agree with your point about keeping IOG below the media radar. Are you not forgetting that most of the board and senior executive have been taking those gifted shares in lieu of salary sacrifice? They might well welcome II activities off market in terms of substantial backing - but their own personal fortunes will benefit from a steady rise in SP. For all the reasons we know, this has to take an upwards hike in the very near future, and a media leg-up would surely do no harm.

gator - I am rather dismayed at your negative stance to what I felt was a perfectly competent and comprehensive presentation by AH. Timing is good, and even if elements of the story are archival to the regulars, that is what you have to employ when giving an overall corporate picture to existing and potential investors. And we learned that the old chestnut of the LOG "overhang" can now be interpreted as a supporting role while the company develops to its fullest potential - which is a bit different from having ongoing angst about large tranches being dumped on the market on random occasions.
Where the PR effort has lapsed is in its failure to recognise all the recent opportunities to become part of the media obsession with gas prices and net zero targets - basically to network the IOG story into the DNA of influential journalists and broadcasters, thus imparting the positive spin of a UK based company that is on the cusp of improving the gas supply chain. This is a specialist skill which has been sadly lacking at IOG. We all share a mystification at the lowly levels of the SP at present - and I am assuming that this factor is the main source of your gripe?

Many thanks mole for taking the trouble to post an excellent and detailed summary of the presentation. As you point out, in terms of new thinking, we now have a clearer view of the LOG strategy and need not stress over the imminent prospect of large chunks of equity being sold at random. The rig is getting its MOT and repair work as expected, and otherwise a very positive re-cap on work progress at Bacton and offshore, with timelines still in place for first gas. Future size of resources within Phases 2 and 3 at other wells in the portfolio will have to wait for authentic quantification no doubt - but the general scenario is looking very satisfactory against the backdrop of historically high gas prices. mole - I will have to miss the webinar, so your take on the imparted wisdoms would be interesting. Personally not concerned with our fallow patch - but agree with you on the reasons. Repairs on the Hans Nobel rig is a common hazard in well drilling procedures so I am told by the tech boys on here, and the impatience of short term investors probably accounts mainly for the selling run. Southwark is part of Phase 2 development, so with no further hiccups we should get no further delays on the delivery of first gas.

for 100k @ 29.50 put a positive stamp on a quiet day and we are holding our own as we await the news which will enliven this board. A bit more patience required after a long haul for many of us!

Thanks for posting duster, and definitely worth a read. Great example of how the natural use of local materials - in this case sand - can solve an environmental issue without causing problems elsewhere. Erosion on the East Anglian coastline has been happening for a thousand years and more, and no surprise that Dutch technology has been employed to safeguard Bacton.

Whooops! Apologies - wrong decimal point! LO reduced their holding by 313k - NOT 3m! Same principle applies, imho.

gator - thanks for the views, and you will notice from today's RNS that your unfavourite merchant bank/fund manager Lombard Odier have reduced their holding of some 94 million shares down by just over 3 million and taken a nice profit on their original investments at lower rates. As it stands, there will always be takers on the II market, but looking ahead I would expect them to keep a core holding here once dividends begin to be paid. Nice weekend and GLA!

gator - I think we are slightly in the doldrums around the 30p marker because the discounted factor, if anything, is the LOG overhang. The first gas announcement, when it comes, will almost certainly fire this up towards your own expectations. The market likes certainty, so news of its imminent arrival, fixed dates, flow rates etc. matched against current gas prices and winter forecasts will surely have an effect - then an ongoing one as income begins to have further influence. I am reading today how coal has just surpassed gas as the main energy source in Europe (so much for net zero conferences!) - and the arrival of a fresh gas supply to the UK market will surely be welcome. As said before, I am looking beyond the benign effect of first gas to "first dividend" which will be the real game changer. When do you think this might come about? GLA

Low volume today, but very misleading aggregates on here owing to falsely wide spread. Actuals were 261k Buys and only 15k Sells, hence the Bid rising to 30p. Poised for upward movement with new buyers hovering.

Same page here monkeys! All those red 30.4p trades are actually Buys, which paints a completely different trading pattern today. Holding the published wide spread inevitably leads to confusion.

Back to business today with a small early top-up. That will be farewell to sub 30p Buys as we begin to re-rate towards a more realistic SP imho.

pipe - I wouldn't call 65 trades by 2pm a "lack of interest" exactly - but as always with a riser, there are buyers and sellers a-plenty. True, we have not gone ballistic, and I would put this down in some degree to all the media hype over the energy switch to renewables, plus the feeling that it is an anti-netzero move to invest in a gas provider in the current environment.

denis/stu my average is a bit higher but similar volume, and will keep buying up to first gas when possible, and not at all concerned about upping the average. Times were much harder before funding arrived and continuing working progress plus gas prices have made this an odds-on penalty kick in my view. I am very surprised that the financial columns such as Questor etc. have not latched on.

article in today's DT Business on the winter energy crisis with Sir Jim pointing out the UK's wholly inadequate gas storage capacity - and yet another opportunity to depict IOG as a white knight waiting to gallop to the rescue sadly missed. I wonder if IOG's PR agency are in touch with these opinion-forming writers and broadcasters - or perhaps have been instructed to hold fire until the advent of first gas??

GG - as ever the voice of sanity, backed by totally sound O & G technical knowledge and experience. Putting hiccups "into context" seems to be beyond the reach of so many marketeers, and there certainly seems to be some strange kind of bias historically against this company by the price fixers, whatever the colour of the latest news. Those of a positive frame, however, will see this as another buying opportunity- funds permitting of course!

Looks like a slight pause at Southwark for all the right reasons - safety first and all that. Very positive day on the market, with the late sell-off timed exactly from the issue of today's RNS. There are still some sensitive souls out there!
