That's a bit of a schoolboy error from Emirates isn't it?

Fingers crossed this all gets sorted. I'm hoping Emirates was just trying to squeeze a slightly better deal out of RR by throwing their weight around and acting all indignant - I'm assuming Tufan has some money to play with from the original deal to help push it through.

Tufan is on the record as saying RR has historically been selling its goods far too cheaply and needs to strengthen its profits on the sale of engines. To RR employees who have been brought up with knocking out engines at cost / slight loss in order to make money on the aftercare packages this has been quite a change to deal with.

It'll be interesting to see if the deals which haven't been made thus far will be made once people understand Tufan is not prepared to back down on his "crazy" stance of making a profit on the hardware and not just relying on the aftercare to bring the profit in. I'm guessing with a couple of tweaks here and there these deals will go through. RR supply the best kit - why shouldn't they charge a reasonable price which affords them a reasonable profit?

We're quite a positive bunch on this forum - Which is a good thing... But having fully committed to RR I can't help but ask myself... "am I missing something?" - To the committed investor RR just seems such a no brainer. Excellent product, recovering market, extra product lines in SMR's, debt reduction, improving credit score, return of dividends (which in turn will attract the institutions to the party)......Being a glass half empty sort of person I keep trying to work out what I'm missing?? Obviously any company / sector can be affected by some unforeseen event which can knock it back a few yards - but baring a major Black Swan event (Covid 2 etc, etc) I simply cannot fault RR. I hope I'm not jinxing this by being so positive.....

I'm in it for the long term. I can see huge long term potential in RR (barring external factors such as war and another pandemic screwing things up)

I was just interested to understand whether the Dubai airshow was going to offer up some staggering deals which might affect the SP - As I said - historically the SP is a bit "meh" about multi-million pound deals.

Do you think this will affect the SP much? Historically RR has a tendancy to announce multi-million pound deals and the SP does the square root of F@ck all.

I'm actually VERY positive about RR however there are always risks.

It can be difficult to get a real perspective if you are surrounded by like minded positive thinking people.... however....

All things considered I think the positives far outweigh the negatives but having said this you never really know what's around the corner.

@ntc - i admit i skim read it - on closer inspection the journo is getting splinters sitting on the fence - on the one hand praising rr for it's achievements to date and on the other citing caution..... agree - not as positive as i first thought from my skim read - we have however (in the last few minutes) entered into the "past 233.1" point.... so next target appears to be 283p according to splinter ****.

BofA announcing what everyone on this forum has known for the past 6 - 12 months..... Whilst the Fool continues to downplay RR's achievements and potential.

"pivotal day" ????

- Announcing re-entry into narrow bodied market?

- Announcing significant SMR update?

- Announcing return of dividend?

- Something else?

Should we be expecting any "surprises" on 28th or standard RR good vibes?

On top of all these positives the company will attract institutional investors once it announces a dividend and aquires a slightly better credit rating.

RR rarely follows the rules... the share price will remain static on the back of a £400m order and then increase a week later for no apparent reason.

Thankfully, long-term the prospects look good...

I like your "optimism" regarding the SMR contracts NTC. I hope this is optimism is backed up with some good insider knowledge.... Just out of interest (and no disrespect to you NTC) - If a lowly cat has it on good authority the SMR contracts are a done deal surely this means the market knows and the SMR is somewhat "baked into" the current SP?? With this in mind wil the SP rise much when / if the SMR contracts are announced?
