So yeasterday you were telling people to "buy now before it's too late" and now you're patting yourself on the back for predicting the SP going down???

Am I missing something?

Can anyone think of any potential bad news?? Where's Jane when you need her, she'd be able to clear this up with her insider knowledge and expert analysis.....

Look at RR Share news on this board.... No wonder Sarup63 and Upanddownjoe were caught out. Even LSE's own news feed read the press release wrong.....#worstpressreleaseinthehistoryofpressreleases....

Rolls-Royce buys engine business from German manufacturer Deutz

(Alliance News) - Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC, the British aerospace and defence company announced a takeover sale of the German internal combustion engine manufacturer Deutz AG's engine business.

It's people trying to work out if they've bought or sold their "lower power range engine business" :-)

"I would think that he has very good reason for doing so ,certainly does not need to struggle to raise funds by now ."

They've sold it for "high double digit million euros" AKA pocket change for someone the size of RR.....

"Rolls-Royce In Talks to Sell Lower-Power-Range Engines Business to Deutz" if only their press release was that clear Sullysworld. The tag line I got in an email alert from RR was "Rolls-Royce reaches agreement-in-principle with Deutz AG to take over the lower-power-range engines business" - which would suggest RR is taking over the lower-power-range business - whereas when you read the press release it suggests "selling to" Deutz (intermingled with quotes from Tufan about how important that part of the business is...???). Anyway let's move on.....

I misinterpreted the following in the press release which I thought suggested RR were selling to Deutz ??

"Rolls-Royce and Deutz AG are in positive discussions for the sale of the off-highway engines business in the lower power range up to 480 kW to Deutz AG for a price in the high double-digit million Euros."

It says ..."discussions for the sale of.....to Deutz AG...."

I may be having a senior moment - and having read (and re-read) the press release earlier (which is not very well written IMHO) aren't RR selling their off highway engine business to Deutz (as opposed to purchasing it).

Kewjosh, I don't revel in your "failure", in fact I'm in awe of your titanium gonads. However.... I just (personally) can't see the point in shorting a stock which has a proven upward trajectory. Yes, it will probably retrace at some point - however judging when is, in all honesty, a guessing game. I wish you luck but wince when I see you proclaim your intentions to short.

Thanks for that CornishPete - my general point still stands - there are a helluva lot of positives to come in 2024 - Not all will come off but you'd think just a combination of some will propel the SP to past the £4 mark by the end of 2024??

Your tea leaves seem very conservative Sven??? I have this stock reaching 4.25 by the end of 2024. If you look at all the good news which is lined up for 2024... Results (you'd expect these to hit or exceed Tufan's targets), Return of the dividend, Upgraded credit rating, Turkish and Thai orders?, SME news? flying hours projected to increase to higher than pre-covid levels, maybe something bonkers like an early return / opportunity to return to the narrow bodied market?? and that's just off the top of my head....

Agreed, anything under 300 is a bargain. This aint dropping to 2.67.

i'm a lth and i totally get what you are saying ****nal... however constant rises don't half get the endorphins flowing...

By my calculations we still have 9 days of trading (including today) plus 2 half days (22nd and 29th)?? (IS THIS RIGHT???).... Will Charley151107 hold onto the top spot? Why didn't anyone go for over £3? (apart from Mystic who went for a somewhat adventurous £25...)

Back to normal....FTSE up, RR down :-)

Don't worry, I have total faith - just amuses me that historically (before the last 6 months) RR used to always have a tendancy to go against the market...

According to Google Finance the new high is.............300.

RR has been commended by many analysts for setting robust targets regarding profits, margin etc, etc. My slight concern is Tufan may have set the bar too high for Royces to be able to actually achieve the targets he has set...How "aspirational" do you think the targets are? I'm assuming as Tufan is a numbers man he's done his homework and made sure they are achievable - however a supply chain issue here and an unwelcome war there and the target can quickly face defenestration.....
