We're now at 37 guesses for the SP at COP on Thursday and the average of all the punts so far is 352....So 350 was a mean guess :-)

Im afraid the whole "what happened to the planes in russia" passed me by. Are these planes still flying? With out of date software and unserviced engines??

What's the deeal with Aeroflot?? I presume RR had the same engine servicing deal with them as they do with all their customers. Did the sanctions prevent RR maintaining / servicing the aeroflot engines?

I was chatting to someone at Royces the other day and the topic of flying hours cropped up... He said something that was quite interesting and quite obvious if you think about it. The Ukraine / Russia conflict will probably bump the flying hours up as the airlines can't fly over conflict zones and (I believe) have in many cases been banned from flying over Russian airspace. I just did a google search to see what validity there might be in this and also to see if there was any data to back it up... God bless academics, they'll just about write about anything - I can't say I've read the whole thing (a bit too wordy for me) however the skim reading I managed would suggest there is indeed some validity to the point my RR friend was making.... just in case anyone is intereested (or requires a cure for insomnia) the article is below....

I'm quite excited to see what Thursday brings. Are RR on track to achieve their mid-term goals? If results suggest they are it should be a bumper day.... fingers crossed, tight lines etc, etc... :-).

I hope I don't appear to negative ateve626... if anything I'm attempting to temper my own enthusiasm. I'm 90% sure the price will do well on 22nd (and almost 100% sure the price will do well longer term barring worldwide catastrophe.) However there's always that lingering doubt :-) Good for you for selling some. I'm personally looking towards Nettles' holy grail price of £7+. Ive sold and bought back shares over the last month but only to increase my shareholding (as I didn't have any more money to invest in RR and it was the only way I could attain more shares)... now its too close to results to continue playing that game so I'm holding on for dear life and hoping for the best :-)

I totally agree. Shares in general have a funny way of biting tyou in the Ar@e when you least expect it.... Although I do venture outside the confines of this discussion board to glean information on RR I am still heavily influenced by the general positiveness from here. Whether this positivity is adversely biased by peoples individual investments in RR or rather a well informed collective is impossible to judge. I'm heartened that the chartists such as Svend are happy to pile on to the collective positivity with their double reverse swinging upsides countering the marginal downsweeps of the eternal flagulet.....however I am also mindful that in all the years I've held RR it has rarely played by the rules of predictability. The last 18 months or so has been a revelation insofar as the share price has mirrored the positive vibe and unquestionable progress the company has made.... I just hope the eternally fickle market is capable of continuing to embrace what has been a meteoric turn around by Royces both on the 22nd and in the years to come.

I think looking further ahead... even if we are all "wrong" (apart from the odd shorter in the high stakes guessing game...) and the RR SP does not rise significantly on 22nd it has a bright few years ahead (barring WW3 (trump....(what if Biden dies / falls ill just before the election.....it could happen)), Massive recession (how long can the markets be so positive when many people are clearly struggling to afford basics) or even COVID part 2.)

This is almost a wisdom of crowds on steroids... insofar as the vast majority (if not all) are much more informed on the subject of RR than the average person. I suppose the slight downfall is the fact that the vast majority (if not all) the respondents have a vested interest for a positive outcome on the 22nd.... Time will tell how accurate the cumulative prediction is. I think the average answer is suggesting a 12% increase which feels about right if the news is as positive as many suggest. Fingers crossed for a positive 22nd and a continuing positivity in 2024 and beyond :-)

I love a bit of Billy Svend - top drawer. Just looked him up to make sure he's still with us and was pleasantly surprised that he is... 68 years young no less.... that really does age me - I remember Rebel Yell and White Wedding as if it was yesterday.... thanks for re-kindling those memories :-)

So the consensus of opinion (or average of the 32 entries thus far) is an SP of 355.25 by close of play on 22nd. That's a 12% rise on where the price is now as I type. Will be interesting to see what actually happens.......

Pgroey... 290.... controversial :-) but who knows. I sincerely hope you don't win with that one!!!

You can post any number for any date if you really want to however this "competition" is to see who will be closest with their prediction for Close of play on 22nd....You've got to be in it to win it SkaLasNorse - give us your best shot for COP on 22nd and We'll give you an honorable mention for your own prediction. Whilst I'm here... is there any significance to Tuesday 27th??? Am I missing something?

Following on from last years SP prediction conundrum who wants to state their guess as to where the SP will be by close of play on Thursday 22nd.... Last years winner was CityTTrader closely followed by Larry6 and SS17. Who wants to put their "money" where their mouth is and committ to a prediction for 22nd... I'll start the ball rolling and guess 353p. Closing date for applications will be 21st.... (PS it's only a bit of fun)...

18% is very catspefic.

I've sold high and re-bought cheap on several occasions over the past couple of months. Before anyone mentions CGT the shares I sold and bought back were in either a SIPP or an ISA. I fail to understand why this is so controversial. IT INCREASES YOUR HOLDING. I'm not a genius nor a master tactician but when I'm sitting on a share that meanders with regularity between 310 (ish) and 290 (ish) it seems a no brainer to sell at 310 (ish) and buy back at 290 (ish). Now that we are so close to results day and bearing in mind Tufans' preclusion to releasing bits of good news in the run up to scheduled announcements its probably not worth the risk.... however for the past 3 or so months its been the easiest money on the stockmarket.
