Lamborghini's are faster, better handling and more reliable... yes they have Audi DNA, but since when is that a bad thing both with quality and cost effectiveness of the product? They are very different animals though to their Audi relatives. I've been on numerous Lamborghini track days, and never seen one mechanical failure even being spanked by a load of us fools believing that we can actually drive. And who's laughing.... the Urus is about double the price of an RSQ8 (yet near zero depreciation in year 1, that being the real cost of ownership), they have a production limit of 3000 a year and sold 4500 in the first year since release.

Aston's have undoubtedly more character, an equally fanatical fanbase to Lamborghini but not as global.

Indeed StanleyPro... but this is exactly what should happen - after the last year+ investing in product development, a whole new site and production line for the DBX - then Covid hitting just before the first models are delivered. Really bad timing. But logically, should turnaround fast!

Exactly @Sirow08... he is literally the reason I invested. No way would Wolff risk his own money if he wasn't confident, and no way would Stroll mislead him. Stroll's F1 team being dependant on Mercedes powertrains....

If Stroll and Wollf, perhaps even with Mercedes are planning a takeover of AML together... I don't see how we'd loose from that either, considering the price level it seems that most of us here are invested at, being massively undervalued.

But as I understand it they had to buy 1 share at a much higher price to buy 4 shares at 30p. Averaged out I read it was closer to 64p per share.

Wolff massively invested personally, a few weeks after travelling back from Australia with Stroll. Regardless of the discussions that went on - for me that was more than enough to jump on board too! Follow the money... but also follow those who clearly know far far more than we ever could from the outside.

Incorrect use of Lamborghini as an example Pokerchips... they're a brand who have most definitely got the supply/demand balance right. All cars in the range and especially the Urus have a long wait list, meaning that they're selling 6-12 months old still at list price - so canny petrolheads see them as a good investment. Unlike some plummeting in the 2nd hand market due in part to over supply.... McLaren.

The biggest thing supercar brands have going for them is brand loyalty - each one has their own family of car collectors who are massive brand advocates. Emotion and loyalty that is more than useful to survice through a global economic downturn.

The term 'works team' is a little misleading.... Aston Martin will be the team name, but effectively a sponsor. I've seen nothing that indicates they are invested in the F1 team as such. Although of course linked by Stroll heading both.

I hadn't realised that Shell hadn't plummeted quite as far as some of the others! Looks like a strong run into the close yesterday from a brief glance. All oil co SP's should gradually claw their way back up over the coming months, as long as Covid and the price of crude behaves itself....

@ilfc4life are you (and many others) losing sight why they didn't turn a profit last year? They invested in a whole new site and production line to create the DBX! Thats a huge one off upfront cost, with profits from which will very soon now be seen.

I am totally sure that before investing millions personally, that Toto Wolff had far more insight, and his legal team analysing everything, before making that decision. For me, that is all the proof I need.

The DBX won't be everyone's cup of tea, it isn't mine tbh, and yes it doesn't have quite the performance of some of it's competitors (although will undoubtedly sound better). But don't for one second underestimate the strength of brand loyalty that Aston has. The majority of Aston sports car owners will want one of these to replace their BMW/Audi whatever they drive to work in.
Lamborghini's Urus catapulted their turnover next level... 18 months after release there is still a 1yr wait list for them. And the Urus is at least 20% more expensive - an average specced Urus is well over £200k. I do believe the DBX will do very similar for AML.

What will change next year in F1 in terms of risk for AML, is nothing. They are 'just' a sponsor.
BUT the perception will be that much greater being referred to permanently as 'Aston Martin'... whereas now - they're referred to as 'Red Bull', just with a badge on the car.

How on earth can you compare VW's operation to AML? They are TOTALLY different animals! About the only thing they have in common are making things with 4 wheels. AML operation is tiny in comparison! And I'm sure the vast majority of employees have been just sat at home on furlough... not very expensive.
Burning through cash in Q1? Well yeah... that tends to be what would happen having to create a whole new production line from scratch for a new model drastically different to anything else in the range!
AML is nothing but a sponsor to F1... 'making money from F1' isn't even a factor - it's solely huge brand awareness at a bargain price from the ballpark figures I've seen.
Have you mentioned Wolff yet? He's no fool, far moreinside info that we could ever dream of - and heavily invested personally at way over current SP - he's the main reason why I'm here.

Being as knowledgeable as you seem spitfire44 about F1, you must know that AML will be merely a sponsor to an F1 team... at a bargain price as both headed by Stroll. And that F1 have agreed a budget cap anyway, at about 1/4 what the big teams spend, and even below what Racing Point (Aston Martin) usually spend, even being one of the lowest funded teams historically.
