You noticed that AML is still outperforming the FTSE today I'm sure?

Can always tell when there's a huge demand early doors, when HL live pricing doesn't work for a SP.... like AML right now.

Combination of folk buying in as the bottom clearly been reached and the only way is up.... and shorters all buying out at the same 30p level as thats where they'd set their target, at the rights issue SP. IMO.

I do find that perspective a little strange @oxygen. Some things are worth waiting for - and scarcity increases desire!
Much of what I sell takes me 6 months to create, zero complaints.

Lamborghini Urus until recently was 14 months lead time for a standard model, so clearly many buyers prepared to wait! They had it down to 10 months before Covid hit now back up to 12. Zero show room discounts available - list price, that's it. Most I could haggle was free transport from the factory to the dealership instead of having to fetch it myself, even though I regularly work directly with senior management there.

I think Lamborghini is a better comparison yes... and certainly the preferential business model - scarcity to hold value rather than volume to max turnover.

What I don't get on this board - everyone banging on about net loss end of last year and high spending - hardly surprising when AML have had to develop a whole new plant and brand new style of vehicle from the ground up - yet this is never mentioned as justification! That's not 'burning through cash' as is often iterated - that's investment.

@pwa2477 yup McLaren really got this wrong IMO. Too many models, too many cars produced. Dealers having to discount to shift them and second hand market plummets. Good for turnover..... but we all know 'that' moto about vanity hey.

Lamborghini or Ferrari you're looking at 8 months plus, some models they don't even accept special orders - like the Urus, 12 months lead time right now. If DBX has lead times this long it would be a very good sign...

Yup - same in UK. Was offered a brand new Vantage the other day for £2k down, £1200pm for 2 years, then just hand the car back. That's too cheap. Under Strolls direction the dealers have been told to de-stock I believe - which makes sense, less capital tied up in stock. Logically it will continue to hurt the second hand market though... as in 2 years time there will be a surplus.

Replace stocks that are difficult to predict based on scant logic, with crypto that's impossible to predict and based on fantasy!

I still have a crypto holding.... but certainly not more than i could afford to lose.

I had EVERYTHING red yesterday aside from Bitcoin.

Today everything blue, two are 17% up including AML! Bitcoin slightly down ha.

@jedclampit don't confuse McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive. Connected at the top sure - but independant financials.
There's even less of a connection between AML and the badged Aston Martin F1 team. Same guy at the top, but no direct connection - AML are 'just' a headline sponsor of the F1 team. The success or not of the F1 team has zero direct impact on AML finances.... aside from increased PR and prestige if they do well.

McLaren got refused a government loan... as I read it, because they didn't really need it.

McLaren automotive I think has a different business model to AML - a small but important difference. McLaren seem to be about volume - sell as many cars as possible and bang them out for maximum turnover. This isnt great for second hand market values.... and canny car buyers stay away because of this. Other brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari restrict supply so there is a always a long wait list, and used values stay high, less value tied up in stock. Under Stroll AML are heading more this way, which has to be good.
