Ocado remains in the biggest risers in the past 12 months, this usually indicates further rises in the future.

Why would Brexit have a major impact on the gold price ?

FXPO is one of the biggest fallers in the last 12 months. This is usually a bad sign for the future. The dividend is indeed high but this is often compensation for a high risk problem company. The fundamentals look good but if that was the only thing that drove a share price then we would all be very rich.

This has proved disappointing over the last 3 months. It has a high beta which is generally a bad indicator.

Excellent momentum with this. It is one of the biggest rises in the past 12 months and this is usually a good sign for the future.

I said that most of the time they get them right. In this instance I hope they are wrong as I am invested here. Looking good at the moment.

To be fair most of the IC sell tips do tend to fall in value. They are certainly more accurate than their buy tips.

Yep, I think you need to have thick skin to be on those boards. I get enough grief discussing Brexit on the TW board.

Thanks for the replies, it is good to be civil even if we are on different sides of the Brexit fence. To be honest, I have no issues with being part of Europe and simplifying trade. I would even support having the Euro as currency if we remained. What I disagree with is the cost and the waste of the Brussels bureaucracy and the ambitions to control more and more of our daily lives.

I am in my 50s.
I was working on Brexit day, got home at 7 but still manged to vote.
I do not have a mobility scooter. Fortunately I do not need one. I do sympathise with those that do need one.
I do not read the sun or daily mail, I read the guardian. I am a lifetime socialist but do not believe everything I read.
I have a degree in economics and have been a FD of a multi billion pound company so I do have some understanding of what the impact of Brexit could be.

Any bad news, the BBC will somehow attribute it to Brexit. Any good news, no mention of Brexit. Japanese car makers leave the UK and it is all down to Brexit, even though the main reason is that the EU now has a trade deal with Japan so they do not need to use the UK as a means of selling cars to the EU.
Steel works close due to Brexit, even though it is the EU who stop us subsidising UK steel to compete with subsidised Chinese steel.
When they announced record employment figures, rather than emphasising the good news the economics correspondent wrote "we will have to wait a few months to know if Brexit uncertainty has hit the jobs market".
Also, interesting to read John Humphries comments after he left the BBC. "BBC bosses were devastated by the victory of the Leave campaign".

TOM, you admonish us for discussing Brexit (which most people are interested in) and insist that we should only discuss TW. Then you ramble on about GGP and cars which most of us are not interested in.

I have found the arguments both for and against very interesting and informative, certainly better than the biased nonsense that you will find on the BBC website.

They may not be British but they are more British than BMWs. How about we make our own cars then?

House prices fell 20% between 2007 and 2010 and I don't recall issues with negative equity. As for people losing jobs let's create jobs producing goods that we no longer import from the EU.

Do we really need German cars and French wine ? I think we make lots of cars in this country and wine is available all over the world. If it is so easy for the EU to find new markets, why are they about to enter a recession?

The only fact was the £39 billion, anything else was conjecture. I used my common sense to come to the conclusion that we would be better out.
6 out of 10 of the EU's top trading partners trade under WTO rules. The EU does not have a trade deal with the USA.
WTO imposes obligations on the EU to agree mutual recognition agreements, in effect they cannot discriminate against the UK.
We should be very sceptical of forecasts of impending doom, remember the CBI forecast that a leave vote would cost 950,000 jobs within a couple of years.
We will have the advantage of setting our own tax rates and having a flexible workforce .
We import more than we export so it is more important for the EU to continue trading with us than vice versa.
Should we leave with a no deal we will be fine once the scare stories prove unfounded.
