The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Hello and good afternoon, another post to keep the numbers up or garry barlow will catch up.
Just bought INVP as a shot at day/short term trade. Continuing my practice of doing these things alongside of a holding.
CPI which was my Friday effort is not doing well, below my buy price, looking like it might turn into a longer term average down. BB a bet at same time is not going anywhere much right now. So need sit tight.
Did sell AGM yesterday, selling less shares but getting money back and keeping 270 shares as averaging down for the long term which on that share I have little faith in.
Most of my 33 holdings (wife and daughters p/f's included) down, some by fair chunk particularly my own p/f, still it has the main winner in it too, which is AMD, though it just halves my losses. I do need to rationalise these holdings, at least a bit< I think I have only added to them this last year or so.
Been quite nice this afternoon, sun shining much of time, but not shining on my investments!
Good evening all, no football to entertain us, looking forward to Friday.
Afternoon, how was your days?
o .. I spent a lot of time thinking why call him David Javid, before I worked it out, not terribly clever, I am!
Most of my chunkier holdings have struggled today, the banks, oil, telecoms and commods.AZN did okay and GSK not bad.
My Friday stabs at day trading not succeeded yet at least BB. okay but need and expect more yet. CPI did the trading water trick.
The earlier in week AGM may yet get to be sold, I am thinking tomorrow will keep some for my average on what I held, and get my buying money back I think!
N Still not got the Yellow Cake, you did okay on that, though I think it would have been sound to hold. Might add some tom..
Good eveing everyone.
Morning, do you lot not realise that as far as the PM is concerned the matter is closed.
It's odd how some of these players get you to change your minds about predecessors.
May now looks competent and strong.
Ed Milliband able and charming.
Jeremy Hunt insightful and proper.
o ... bit of a radical, pun intended, condemnation of the Lib D's. As a one time Liberal voter I have to point out Jeremy Thorpe was never a lib deb, and you are omitting the man of Steele. And what about Paddy pantsdown, he would have given Han**** a run for his money.
Charles Kennedy was a lovely man, but lovely men are not always best for job. Boris was he once a lovely man, not sure but close.
Bring on Caroline Lucas...., not entirely joking either.
Also i am in London for a check on my flat, got Evening Standard yesterday. Had an article on the masses exodus from London. The EU boys going home where all you northerners wanted them, and then your rich mates moving out into bigger houses in the country from their pokey flats like mine. (only joking about you northerners hopefully you won't take it too seriously ... there's enough political junk posted else where on General chat).
Anyway my point here is there will be significant impact on all sorts of things here in London and round about, restaurants and construction struggling for staff, transport under utilised etc etc
Read an interesting article in my Guardian weekly mag., last week about the rising, dark warehouse and grocery rapid delivery services springing up everywhere. is it more nipping away at supermarkets share. You might think not.
But the pandemic as given them a lift off, and if I look at how my daughter and a few other younguns shop
it might just be.
I am thinking I might get out of them in near future, I am not in one now, I mean the shares!
Hi everyone,
S I used to teach motor vehicle at college, that was a common mistake remove or refit the tyre when meaning the wheel (and tyre). Was one of my bug bears (is that right term?). So you would have gone to top of class realising your mistake and correcting it, well done.
m I have followed you into a CPI buy, I already hold at a ludicrous average so can treat it as a day trade or average down, depending how I feel and price goes.
I made a mistake not selling the AGM and TWD's that shot up in a day, they have fallen back/traded water since!
Live and learn should listen more to T
Morning all, weather not looking that great today specially when you think it's midsummer.
Still this is England that's what we buy into, we just need to make sure we don't let anyone else in on it.
Bereft of ideas today that's why I am drivelling on.
I will go for a bit of a bike ride that will help.
Hope you all have a good day.
Hi everyone have not had much to post or read yours this last couple of days as me and my shares on a bit of a downer.
Hope you are all okay, I have not read through posts yet so can't tell.
Even though I was not much interested I got a bit lucky yesterday.
My TWD shares had been off and dropped some more, only on a viewed as not so rosey RNS, but nothing really bad in it.
So took a chance on adding some of them they are up 13% or so today.
Then I had a small holding in AGM which was my only direct Primary Bid buy so far which I did as a trial and hoping graphene will have a great future. It might but not sure it will with them.
Anyway I got far less than my £1k order, might have been less than £200 was ;ess than 3 for sure.
So I bought some more to make a worthwhile holding.
Then bought some more in anticipation of a rise, on back of placing and the resulting fall.
Then I decided to read up on AGM and just could not make any sense of them, figures awful, product unclear, strategy unclear.
All this while price is falling, I the sold a half, keeping half in hope.
Well they have just kept on falling so yesterday it wass in for a penny in for a pound and bought back what I sold and more (for less)
Today they are up nearly 20%.
Anyone would think I was a day trader.
Of course as you all will have realised I'm not and showed it by not selling.
N, was nearly in at offer price at 251p YCA dropped to at one point, but dithered and did not get . Still hoping to add, might even do at 253/4 it is now. Though I plan on holding them along with rest I have.
Any way good evening to you all, is last football for a day or two tonight and we will know Englands opposition. I was annoyed to hear crowd cheer on Croatia scoring against Scots last night I would have enjoyed seeing them qualify as well.
Still Mrs. n is a Czech so she was pleased.
Na shledanou y'all
Things not good today, some chunky losses.
O.. I used to use VPN when working remotely 10 years back, worked fine for that and kind of got used to small delays that were part of it.
I have looked at it recently as I use Windows more nowadays which is always a bit risky.
Never found anything that I would go with and just tried Sophos as sec. suite but in end just sticking with Windows own security.
Mozilla have a VPN they also do Firefox browser and are usually freeware.
Opera also have a VPN which comes with their browser, again free. I can't remember now I think I tried the Opera one and found it frustratingly slow. I was having broadband slowness at the time and it just added to it, so was not a fair assessment. Anyway I got bored with it in the end and gave up, I am not convinced of the benefits or necessity (for me).
Was it you or V that mentioned the ugly stuff off Thanet, coincidentally that was probably the last place I was in the sea. Went there maybe 10 years back, walked out in the water (it was warm enough), you can get quite a long way. This little east end girl started talking to me out there, she was only about 10 and all on her own. She kind of stuck with me and we came in together, met up with my wife and daughter, who has stayed ashore. We all had ice creams, can't remember if we found her mum and dad or maybe grandparents we must have done something to see her safe. She was charming and full of chat, made my day.
Good weekend everyone
Morning, it's Friday but I'm okay with that, England Scotland to look forward to.
m, is bossanova code for something, I tried looking it up last time mentioned never found it, am i just being thick?
Parkmead PMG has been stealthily moving up recently, hope it might breakout so i can get rid of shares I have held for far too long.
Nothing else much happening in my shares, or my life for that matter, need to go an jump in the sea. ooh er!
N... thanks ... saw the Yellow Cake PB which is at 250 and the other day I bought at 276 so a little annoying.
I will watch price tomorrow and see if falls back to PB price and maybe top up a little as it is in ISA anyway so makes it awkward to buy on PB.
Good win for Wales, now for Scotland to draw or beat England and maybe all 3 can go through which would be exciting.
I had something else tyo say and have forgotten, so goodnight or maybe good evening to you all
V my daughter who is 22 is being vaccinated today in Glasgow, she says they are not supposed to use AZ, so expects to get Pfizer? Not sure where the not to use AZ comes from exactly? Though it makes sense as there does seem more worry with AZ and younger people. Risks even so seem minimal in comparison to consequences of getting the virus.
This rule may be a Scottish thing?
Are you all still in bed or are the messages getting lost.
I can't manage having to look for RBB down in fourth place it's hard work.
Nice day here though forecast for thunder and lightening a little bit frightening.
All looks flat right now, may be another fairly uneventful day.
Hope you all make the best of it
Even if they are legit do you want a company ringing you up and chasing you to put in money?
I would think you should not.
Why have you already given them £3k, I'd get it back and find someone you know you can trust, there are plenty of reputable brokers out there, last tab on LSE lists some.
