C. Did not get to do anything was busy on other stuff so no SBRY yet. I have busy day tomorrow, back in London so probably will be same, Wednesday could be the day for me and SBRY. Already have Tesco in my wifes ISA, they did a chunky special divi, though that's partly what's kept price down. I meant to not reinvest it but forgot to take the auto reinvest off so now have plenty.
Morning, back in Oxfordshire at my mums, weather today for me is quite nice, I like that fresh just rained atmo.
Have been thinking about selling up my MKS and going SBRY, they've had some Czech muz buying up a stake. And also a new woman aboard can't remember her name. I like the idea they are going to department storise the bigger places, but maybe I am wrong.
Also I think I might like to get some steel company shares, not entirely sure why just appeals to me. If any of you have some suggestions, they'd be welcome.
Looking to sell BARC and FGP short term buys from last week this week if I can.
R. Yes my flat in London is not far from Fulham. Clapham North is okay, not as upmarket as most of Clapham, which suits me and my pocket. I always quite liked the idea of living in Fulham, my sister lived in Queens Club Gardens in the mid eighties and another friend lived near the Hurlingham Club, in a really nice house. All a bit out of my league but I had fun visiting them!
I came through Fulham on my way to mums home on Saturday on a bit of a nostalgic run. Haven't been that way forever!
Nice week everybody!
C. not sure about flair at least as far as end result goes. Have had Blackberry for a long time now since I had a Z10 phone a samrt phone with what I found an excellent OS. Unfortunately I was in a minority, people wanted BB for physical keyboard which really was them hanging on to the old days, or if they wanted a smart phone they wanted and Apple or maybe some Android all with loads of apps which BB never got their act together on. BB have changed now phones no more, some cyber security and some automotive software. Their QNX system which was behind Z10 OS seems to be promising to auto makers which I think they have a few tie ins to, Ford for sure and Merc, at least they were on the F! cars for while, not sure they are now? So I do think some time they will come good but it may be I will wait 10 years for that (from 2013).
Xiaomi, I got hugely excited about end of last year, loved the way they package their products bit like Apple, and they are well priced. They do some cool things beyond phones, scooters, don't have one, scales bought some for daughter, smart watches, little compressor I have that and quite a few other smarty stuff. they al;so are making a foray into EV's. For me they have gone of boil, bought at 20 and followed up to 30', but they have come down to 25's now. I hate android phones which I have one from them, still want my BB but no longer around.
So flair maybe some day but not yet.
Have 3 other foreigners which are pretty good AMD, PUMA and Philips, love them all and have for long run, but not much divs.
Beautiful day here in my Clapham flat, my home really, where I rarely get to sleep in my own bed. I can get up and just slob around. Spend my life now at my mums in Oxon, as wife looks after mum as live in carer, so though it is the house i spent my youth in it is not home. It is also a tied cottage (though they are not run like this now) so cannot realistically spend any proper amount on changes as there will be a time when we need move out.
Had profits trimmed a bit by my BB shares and Xiaomi last night, so hopefully today will see me get back to where I was at beginning of week.
Still thinking on CWR and PMG for today in my usual dither, we'll see. Will probably just pick one.
Good morning and good luck to you all!
Ended day £500 up after looking to be £100 down with 15 mins to go.
After all that talk of retail I bought some RCDO., some engineering therapy.
Think I must dip into CWR in morning seems no reason for drop beyond similar fuel cell producers poor results.
CWR have Bosch as partner so should be safe (read all this on share chat on Yahoo so hoping it is correct)
Might get some PMG tomorrow too, they seems to be bubbling about a bit in the way things do sometimes before they rocket off (usually without me aboard)
Bit more on BOO, you can't stop me now!!
I was on Debenhams website the other day looking for some closing down bargains. Half the stuff or more on there was Boohoo. don't know what the stores are like. Is this some tie up you are all aware of, might in mean BOO is looking at some B&M, thats bricks and mortar not Mr Leahys mob
Also like Dunelm which I hold and am building up, not clothes but nice stuff, though Boris would absolutely hate it.
Good service and prices too.
Like Ray-Bans too not sure you can get shares in them might look, (not for sunglasses either), just their frames.
On retailers, which I very much go for clothes stuff I like style and design of. I even scrolled through Boohoo range before I bought, and also liked what Matilda got. My current little fad is Joules, I haven't done anything about them yet, partly as I thought had missed the boat they have risen a bit since put on watch. But looking back further they were a few years back nearly 400 so maybe there is room for more. I am rubbish and lax DYOR, but I will do some on them and maybe go for it. Will report if I do. Anyway maybe you be wary of my gut here I hold MKS, not sure about them at all. I also have PUMA which has been wildly succesful, totally based on product and noticing following of youth and football ( was back in 2012/13 I think).
On BOO there is a lot of ethically bad stuff gone on. Not easily forgiveable, my daughter hardly buys from them anymore.
When they first issued I got some, I think a bit under 50p, then a whole bunch more at 22.All based on her and her friends at school enthusiasm. Ended very well for me selling out in 200's before all the scandal, doubt I would buy back in now!
Good morning everyone. Good job I had to travel to London this morning so did not buy CWR at about 9 like planned.
Gone further down when I had a quick look just now so need a bit of time to look and decide I think!
Need to look at rest of portfolio's yet to see how day has begun, fingers crossed!
Not bad recovery for me today though still a bit to go just to even up yesterday. BARC and CRDA doing particularly well.
My daughters little p/f did best overall at nearly 2% gain despite hers being the one with the notorious GSK.
CWR continued to fall, might get some of that tomorrow, bought nothing today.
Hi all, for C mainly if you still have GSK and anyone else, who like me have some.
I read an article from City AM that activist investor Elliot is involved with Glaxo.
The main point of article was that activists often seen as the enemy can work out for shareholders benefit.
As in case of GSK who have disappointed lately on no C19 vax etc., they will shake up company to get more result.
Sometimes they might get CEO or directors kicked out, not always a bad thing even if a bit mean.
There is some action (strategy meeting/announcement or something) with CEO lady in charge, coming up I think June.
Seems like this could be a pivotal occasion for GSK future and so share price??
I want to put a bit of a rider on my feelings about interactive investors. I have just gone through a transfer of my wifes portfolio from her ISA on EQI to ii. EQI were going to do this anyway later in the summer, so did earlier as ii offering a £100 intro (to me as already a/c owner) and free subs for a year (to joiner) to join. It has been a longwinded process whether taht is ii, r EQI, or both or just the process I don't know. ii always said it would be lengthy, so cannot complain to much at rthat. However it all goes over in dribs and drabs, so I kept secure messaging to check on certain things. The only reply I got confirmed they had agreed dates with EQI, but did not tell me dates, I asked for them but was not told. It has all now completed from a start point late in March.
They also managed to sell our european holdings by mistake but they fixed that problem and let me know most of time about that, so was happy in end, though worried it could happen!??
So maybe this is the way all transfers go, but if ii had been more communicative I would have been far happier, when you have best part of £70k being up in the air it is stressful.
Pretty awful day for me, did not do any trades, just watched pretty everything in my p/f's crash, with my star being CWR at 13.5%. Was thinking that was a good buy as I only got £500 in March and a reg invest top up £100 in April and already was making almost £100 profit, now that's gone and some! Bit of a hydrogen bet, maybe the good day for oil added to fall.
Lost over £2k overall maybe I should change my name to ECSDI, the E standing for extra, and it would be a vowel initial as a bonus,
