LT you have mentioned lately WW2 and today Poland. We have a lot to thank Poland for during WW2, it was there mathematicians that helped Turing and co at Bletchley Park breaking codes. Yes have read the article no problem. If that were to happen then shareholders would probably be seeing about 80% of the share value at the time of part nationalising BT. Were the to happen a 20% loss might not be seen to bad by some, there art those who post that feel loosing OR would see the SP fly, so no complaints from them then, those who got in at low values say sub £1 would be happy, long holders like myself would have had the compensation of all those dividends, those who do not like Its debt would feel better as there would be less debt in the form of the pension. And the chance that the SP would rise 20% in the medium term say 2-5 years. Ummm if this happened would ti be so bad, how would it compare with not being nationalised ?

So are you saying that you would get a payment from the government in the form of say a bond, still hold shares in BT at a reduced value, and then a one off dividend payment coming out of the money BT are given from the government for nationalising the BB elements.

If it wasn't for Thatcher for distroying our manufacturing industry ,we would still probably be exporting products around the world, and a world leader. Instead she wanted service industry, hence we have no high skilled, world class leading workforce, result we have to import most of what we need because we can no longer make it. Bit ironic she was called the Iron Lady as we no longer have steel making in the uk...

A lot of strong views regarding Mr Corbin and his politics, he is yet to get into power so at the moment has no track record in being PM, be that good or bad. But Mr Boris has proven he is untrustworthy, goes back on his word at any point, will say anything to get people on side, and found guilty of suspending the people's voice, the House of Commons. Perhaps we need a third way...

Thanks guys. Agree about the value situation but used a simple example to see if the principal was a workable one. If this were to happen then at least we would still hold shares in the company, have a bond, for what its worth, a small or no dividend, but no BB bill each month, thats one night a month down "t" pub.... Oh and a packet of crisps.

Thanks Velo, but sometimes less is more. A simple proposition worth £2 bond for £1 keep share worth £1. Would that work and be a starting point giving everybody what they want. Manifesto states

So no mention of exactly which bits, let's keep it simple.

So the proposal is to nationalise the parts of BT involved in BB, basically Openreach. So would this be a method of doing it, ignore personal thaught, in politics, value of the whole is say £2 and the bit to nationalises is worth £1. So you get a bond equal to £1 the share price is reset to £1 and you keep your shares. So would that work, would that be fair and reasonable going forward.

Bkk. If Boris wins then no change of BT. He will say whatever he can to get people on side, and has proven he cannot be trusted, in his leadership campaign he kept stating he would not shut down parliament, so what did he then go and do...
To be honest I think after this election there will still be no overall winner the country has been split almost 50/50 since 2016 and not much has really changed as proven by parliaments actions over the last 9 months Brexit has caused everything to come to a standstill and don't see that changing soon. Perhaps the only way would be to change to proportional representation rather than first past the post, if 52% say go then that would be what would happen, but as things are the population is to closely split.

H-hi So if BT sold OR, where do you see the income coming from to replace the OR income, and then some more so as to not stand still going forward.

Aside from the banter , Faults is right. So is the old saying, new staff are only given enough knowledge to get by, not enough to excell and move forward to new and deeper knowledge. They are paid peanuts and do not have the opportunity to improve, mainly because of the short term contracts they are on, which in the end we will all suffer from, come the day when everybody knows something but nobody knows the whole. The approach of, don't spend any more than 5 years in a job is the beginning of the end if we are not careful. Sometimes knowledge has a price worth paying... Have a good weekend.
