I agree - hearsay so only proves a ramp up of LFT testing but we already knew that - but further confirmation I suppose at least derisks it to the extent that there is more certainty of an upcoming market. Lee’s post summarises nicely all the clues we have as to Avacta’s involvement- which gives more credibility to Avacta’s likely involvement. Not definite BUT certainly derisks a considerable amount from where we were a couple of weeks ago.

Just to add some info related to this - i know of civil servants who are working on getting LFTs into schools (primary I believe not just secondary) so I think the government is certainly planning on a huge amount of testing given the increase in transmission. If Avacta’s test is good - I think it will be a case of being required (along with all other tests). I just think if testing is going to ramp up like this - capacity is the major issue not whether there are 1/2 cases different out of 100 between tests. I doubt the government would put all eggs in one basket until the virus is under control.

Doesn’t it depend on how you define the positive population? When we saw the PCR ct distribution- not getting the positives on the ct > 30 wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. Wouldn’t that (or shouldn’t) that mean potentially a different standard for determining S&S - would like to hear someone with some scientific view on that? It seems that Major criticism of PCR testing has been excessive CT use and the picking up of non infectious individuals but it could equally be used in a positive way if only the binary positive/negative outcome was replaced with something more useful perhaps with repeat testing. If the LFT can pick up 100% of infectious cases (and be used regularly) surely that is the best outcome. Also it could be used to limit isolation with perhaps two consecutive negatives x days apart.

Tradingview is super useful - I pay for premium so I can use it on multiple devices without kicking out another user. You can get a really great deal during Black Friday deals... gotta wait till end of November... but put it in your calendar.

So there is only a 2 hour overlap in the London and US markets. We went up at the end of the day on Thursday and they spiked mid trading on Thursday as we were closing but then they went down at close. So the 10 % increase is just two point in time and measure at a down point on Thursday close and a much higher closer hours later after our markets had closed. One could make a guess that we might go up significantly in Monday open... fingers x’d!

Look I don’t see it is a binary choice - sure there will be swings up and down with whoever is flavour of the week but there will still be need for PCR/ lab testing regardless. I’m sure there will be some bad press again about LFTs and it will swing back or even some more contracts here etc. I’d happily buy more NCYT if there were more dips. For what it is worth ****stain Stanley was a ****wit. Same sort as ODX’s Merchant******.

Anyone like QD who boasts about % to people who don’t give a rat’s backside does so because they don’t want to make themselves feel better about all the other losses and lost opportunities- makes them feel less if a loser. Wasting energy on boards trying to cast doubt etc is not out of the goodness of their hearts. More likely their nerves getting this best of them.... particularly when they see a SP rising.

QuickDraw - yes I already had that info thank you. The point I’m making is that PCR CT is NOT being used effectively by the current processes but COULD - thus my comment about not being NYCT’s fault. There is huge potential here and so hope the government use some ingenuity to make the most effective use out of the technology. There seems to be a sentiment of the government moving towards LFTs - which do have drawbacks but equally have benefits too. I would prefer to see it as a compliment to the testing Arsenal rather than a competition. PCR has been at capacity and that can’t be a good way forward out of lockdown and future waves or even this one. The inter bickering between these boards is tiresome and tedious. There is more than enough to room in this dreadful covid market for all testing companies. A whole world in fact.

I think it all stems from his lack of transparency over the process (and changes). AS is a good business man and scientist for sure. He is not great at toning down his superlatives and managing market expectations. Had he been more realistic about potential delays and used soon and shortly a bit less often he wouldn’t have had the grief - not at these levels anyway. All will be forgotten when LFTs are rolling off the production line.

LFTs can’t replace PCR... but they can potentially reduce spread and reduce isolation. I think where PCR hasn’t stayed ahead of the game is (not a fault of NYCT btw) is that they haven’t used the number of cycles used in any kind of meaningful way. If they repeated tests x days apart you would be able to work out where in the infection cycle the person is and how long to isolate. This would obviously have overhead - but LFTs could take some burden off the system. Let’s hope the government work out how to use BOTH methods effectively together...

wild star.... I agree it doesn’t make sense in the face of it but it would seem validation for all tests in development has taken longer than the expected. As that is the case then I think Boris could have decided to wait for the results before wanting to make any announcements to the public. Considering that the Innova test had such bad publicity why would he want to risk that again and potentially further damage the public’s faith in LFTs. I think it will be critical for the public to understand the purpose of LFTs. Alistair has made it clear that they are not for a placement of PCR test but rather a quicker way to get infectious individuals isolating and also potentially reduce the isolation period. Given that this is the only way to get any normality back I think Boris will want to be the one to make the announcements. So whilst they might not be an NDA in place I would not rule out the government not committing to Contracts prior to Boris’s announcements in the coming weeks.

He is so weird - pants villain sums it up. I mean looking outside in you can’t deny Avacta have been working hard and managed tie ups with all the manufacturing available. He must really have an Avacta vendetta to deny all of that. What is the point of deramping after all this time - there have been so many times to get in low...

Lol - I think when you get a bunch of people (government) organising science then politics and political self promotion is on Uber levels then this utter chaos is inevitable. However this lot in charge don’t appear to have a clue about how to manage self promotion...without looking like buffoons. Let’s just hope that someone further down the chain is actually doing some good work and all this other #### is over soon.

It is a frickin painful this plot. It thickens every day and we just don’t know anything concrete. The fact that Mologic have been working with Avacta for months speaks volumes. Maybe they did team up and we are all awaiting the same test... but why all secrecy... it is most bizarre!

Matty D - that there sums it up for me personally. Al is a whiz at presentations and certainly gives a great impression. The delays have cast a huge amount of doubt obviously as have the impact of vaccines - but as we originally thought - vaccines aren't going to replace testing for the medium term or more. I think the main criticism I have of Alistair is the lack of clear route to market, what are/were the steps that needed to be worked through to get the test out there. Each RNS since the summer has been a more than a little vague in that respect. It could be that the route has changed and essentially being fluid given the goverment/restrictions/moving goal posts but I feel that since the end of September I haven't had a clue about where we were in the process not to even mention BAMs. Now, AS is still using superlatives, so and had he had concerns about achieving a product, I think he would have toned it down a fair bit than he has - so I'm still in and is my largest holding.

Maybe I’m immune to deramps more so now than 9 months ago. But honestly I think the deramp efforts are mild now compared to then. Even MFM is a bit of a comedy - harmless.

It does get a bit tedious on here the bickering about derampers and whether a poster is one or not. I’m happy for dialogue about less sunshine if it is something new... if not just scroll past and don’t engage.

Sorry not kept up with posts this morning. But just saw the one about Europe testing/validation... that was mentioned before. I believe it was also said there were sites in the UK previously... so clarification would be nice I agree.
