Dug some more doubloons out from the back of the kitchen cupboard for a final, final top-up. It's nudged the old average above 2p for the first time, but I can live with that. Wish I'd had the foresight to do it at 4.28pm yesterday, but hey ho. Holding long and strong. We've come this far - getting on for two years for me - so a few more hours, days or weeks is nothing.

Hard to see how UBS or DLA Piper would risk someone trading like this on insider knowledge, ergo nothing material has changed.

I would love it if it drops at 2pm today. It would be the first time in my life I've ever done a "cheeky top up" on a whim when I was already full loaded and got it totally, utterly right.

I'm not sure anyone has predicted with any certainty the day of an RNS. We've all had a guess, but it's hope rather than expectation. All part of the camaraderie.

I decided to take a few more at 29p. Still have an average under 2p but found a few quid down the back of the sofa and have a suspicion that this latest bunch will still be worth three or four times what they're worth gathering dust and will be back in my current account in very short order. The silence from the BOD is deafening now: news could be incoming as soon as the end of this week IMO.

Someone said the other day that there should be a time limit on how long big sells are worked for before they're reported to market. I agree with this. It runs totally counter to the principle of a free market - underpinned by transparent and freely accessible information - that massive trades can be worked over a very long period of time, disguised, and then reported late. The very fact that these large trades are happening *should* be placing upward pressure on the share price.

In fact, in this day and age, there's no reason why we even have MMs: all trades should be done via a central clearing computer with algorithms matching buyers to sellers. It would be far more efficient: spreads would be much narrower and price movements would adjust in real-time on the basis of demand and supply. No fishing trips. No big boys able to quietly offload or accumulate large numbers of shares without it affecting the SP.

There surely comes a point when this accumulation stops and we suddenly go parabolic: everyone giving their shares away cheaply now and stranded on the sandbanks is going to be absolutely sick as the parrots sitting on the shoulders of shipmates as we head full steam to Treasure Island.

I wondered this too. Does it mean that - if they don't, because the buyer doesn't want them to - the big one is even closer than we might suspect? Let's hope so!

Well, that didn't last for long. I wonder if the SP stagnation here is simply a reflection of the lack of volume. Everyone has pretty much taken their positions: LTHs are sitting on piles that are locked away, those that have been trading a bit have stopped doing it because of the risk, recent buyers are maxxed out, and nobody has any dry powder or kitchen sinks left. The IIs are still accumulating in the background from whichever PIs are too impatient to hold strong, but everyone else is now just sitting it out until the endgame. Hence very little price movement.

Come on Dmitry, drop the big one this afternoon!

Every single person who sold out at 29p is going to be very regretful if the DFS and/or FSP RNS lands tomorrow.

What new information have you got Mr 18 posts?

Firstly, anyone who has an average in the high-20s has, by definition, not been holding very long. If they're panicking, then they're not investors, they're speculators. If you've done your research, you shouldn't be worrying. If you jumped on board a few weeks ago as part of the herd without doing any research, just sell out and go after the next rainbow.

Secondly, those of us who have held longer and are not panicking are, by definition, investors, not speculators. We're also seeing much bigger swings in our portfolios and therefore have a right to panic even more, which we're not. My EUA holding is currently worth £60K less than it was a few weeks ago which is a far bigger paper loss than any latecomers are whingeing about.

Thirdly, as Warren Buffet said, if you don't feel comfortable owning a stock for 10 years, you shouldn't own it for 10 minutes.

That was a very strange day's trading. At least until today they've held it within an obvious ranging spanning 2p or 3p. Here, there was no movement at all. Just floating on the dead sea. Weird.

I wonder if this RNS was for the bidders as much as it was for the shareholders: as in, we’re getting very close to put up or shut up time people, and there are more of you than you might think.

Quite. There's no reason why they would. Or, rather, it's inconceivable that they would have got this far, with all labour that has been expended by expensive professionals, without it being 99% nailed on that there is a deal to be realised.
