There will be a huge temptation for many to take and bank some exceptional profits so far, which is entirely rational and understandable. However, if your personal permits and you have the stomach for it, the next few years are likely to provide multiples of anything you see today.

I know folk get unduly excited about short term price fluctuations, but it's unnecessary (although understandable). We know we are sitting on an unusual resource, yes the MRE should be coming soon, but it's the next couple of years that will see the really interesting developments. There will obviously a lot happening in the background, quite apart from the MRE. I happen to think the MRE may have been held up a little, as the date for presentation was fortuitously drawing closer and it was too good an opportunity to miss to link the two.

That said, the MRE is but a staging post, albeit a major one, in the development of this company and the phenomenal resource it has. The Board of Directors and supporting staff will be running many other developmental lines, in addition to, as well as in tandem with, the MRE and additional information will be forthcoming at appropriate punctures. With this one, unless you particularly want or need to take your money early, it's just a case of waiting a year or two for even larger gains. However, as the song goes, "Never count uour money while you're sitting at the table, there's time enough for counting when the dealing is done."

Cev, I think it's unkind of you to refer to Tim's "paper round money". Paperboys (and girls, before anyone complains) work hard for their money, which seems to be a concept beyond Tim. Best of luck to him elsewhere, I've a feeling he will need it.

Happy to have got on board here the other day after being alerted to this company by another investor and having done my due diligence. Not a major commitment, but I can see this easily above 10p in the next twelve months.

Dusty, yes everyone will have their own exit point based on their personal position and that's perfectly reasonable. I'm fortunate in that I'm happy that all my basic needs are already met and I have little desire in accruing more money than I could possibly ever usefully deploy. At the same time, I'm not about to walk away from a position that could provide my family with financial security for generations to come. If it doesn't come to that, they'll just have to make their own sodding way!

Doc83, the MRE isn't something that the Board is completely in the dark about until it's signed off and delivered to them. The issue of an MRE is an iterative process, with lots of backwards and forwards between parties and detailed technical requirements and exchanges; the final content will be absolutely no surprise to those most closely involved. It seems that what is planned for the announcement, which has been touted as "world-changing", is a major public relations onslaught. The issue isn't whether the MRE is market sensitive (it is, but it's arguable that it doesn't need to be released until finally signed off), but whether it will meet the hype that's already been generated around it. For my money, I think we'll certainly see some significant short-term price movements post publication, which will tempt many holders to take significant profits, but I'm more interested in what I believe will be happening over the next couple of years.

Undoubtedly there is usually a reason for the timing of a company's promotional efforts; the reason(s) may be quite mundane, or can be far more significant. In the immediate case of Empire, we have already been told to expect (paraphrasing) fanfares, trumpets and beating of drums. It seems likely that this is going to begin next week, with the MRE releases swiftly followed, or accompanied, by a marketing onslaught. It may be that the marketing onslaught slightly precedes the MRE announcement of course and we need to wait a bit longer for that, but either way this may be one of the last opportunities to pick up stock at these levels.

Yes, but that's not all. Apparently, the week after will see the start of a takeover battle between BHP, Glenmore and RTZ, with a fair likelihood of Newmont, Freeport(-McMoRan), and the Chinese and Saudis also joining the fray. Opening offer of 350 per share.

Really Dusty? The subject has been covered before, so there's no harm reminding folk. Also, you are possibly the last person to ask someone else to refrain from commenting and to just concentrate on their own investment. Talk about chutzpah!

Whilst chatting though, I would like to say thanks to you for your input here. It's you that, without knowing, convinced me to give this a closer look some eighteen months back and consequently has made me a very comfortable holder.

Hasn't everyone got the message yet? Unless you are very careful and know EXACTLY what you are doing, setting stop losses can actually work against you instead of protecting your position. If you are a conviction investor, holding for more than five minutes, you have no need to use a stol loss.

TimSmith12, no it's not that unusual for a PI to hold a large number of shares in a company. Just because it's outside your own experience, you shouldn't make that assumption; not all PIs are men of straw.

Now that it has been clearly demonstrated just how easily the share price can be manipulated when a company has a comparatively large private investor contingent in its' shareholder base, you can expect the recent volatility to persist for a while yet. However, that's really of little concern to investors (as opposed to speculators) who have researched the fundamentals thoroughly and are in for the long haul; other than it can present rather marvellous buying opportunities from time to time. All these recent shenanigans will be forgotten in a couple of years time when the share price is in the stratosphere.

Future hire, mine was meant as a rhetorical question intended to illustrate a long term approach. Daily movements generally mean little to me, other than presenting some occasional buying opportunities.
