When you own 16% share of a prospect, you pay 16% of development cost. If you're convinced it's a duster, you sell your share instead. Eyes wide open, this is O&G! Some prospects consume a fortune and never produce: invest in banking or retail if you want to avoid risk.

Sterr, I too am a CamRA member & get the vouchers, used one yesterday in Stone, Staffs. Its only 50p off per pint, and only for REAL cider or ale; don't try it on Strongbow Guinness or a G&T. Some CamRA types can be a bit sniffy, and jdw is clearly down-market: I thing this is a genuine attempt to increase profit, not to lose it.

They were not always great mates, about 20y back CamRA made a jokey reference to K Y Jellystones. Imo, a major pubco was bound to take over High Streets: it is to everyone's benefit that the successful one has real ale, good value, cheap soft drinks, cheap hot drinks, some nice wines, no-smoking areas before the ban; plus PROFITABLE. Happy to hold, but will take some gain.
