There would be considerable loss of face for the first gig to be a no hoper playing at the Pig & Whistle.

"There were millions of people on our site searching for tickets with a queue at one point of well over 700,000"

I noticed that 2 days ago Livenation were conducting a twitter survey on where people like to sit at a live concert.
They were using the same terminology as MVR

If I knew how to post a twitter link I would.

From my preceding post you might gather that I am very optimistic for MVR and see large amounts of ££££££ $$$$$$$$ and €€€€€€€ ahead.
Not forgetting all the cash sitting in the accounts of those billions of people that live in Asia and beyond.

Was not saying it should be, or will be Macca, was just illustrating the pricing opportunity.

I guess it is possible that good VR experiences of live gigs may even make the secondart market more expensive.

Is it possible that VR might kill off stadium tours ?

Would the very best artists simply decide to play to 2000 live, in a small theatre near their home and sell a million (or more) tickets to the VR live stream.
Maybe the very best will say that MVR can stream live performances, but restrict recordings to drive future live streams.
Maybe we will see a fresh new niche of music star that actually never tours or leaves their home town.

Perhaps this will actually drive prices for live performances to stratospheric levels, afterall how much do you think people would pay for a Macca concert in a local 300 seat theatre ££££££

And yes, I agree Macca's voice has gone, but numerous backing singers can fill out a sound whilst your memory fills in the rest.

Checking Ticketmaster this morning Macca's O2 gig is sold out of standard price tickets.
Stubhub has one ticket at £285 then its £400 or more.
If ever there was a case for a reasonably price VR experience this is it.
You might even argue that a good VR experience would promote the better artists with users finding that they"just have to see that live".

If we are to assume that buys of 750,000 shares or more this week really is Merian closing their short, then by my calculation they are not far away from accumulating sufficient numbers to close their position and we might reasonably expect to see this confirmed sometime next week.
If not, then I woukd say that someone is building a position.

I can't see that these 750,000 buys are traders, or MM's building stock in advance of "the expected news"

I think "intimate" would work for Adele, but I think KISS would look a bit silly banging out a tune in their front room.
However, if you were to consider going on location then this might see a rebirth of the "music video"

I think that once things gets going and people see how much can be made from VR then you will see VR tickets being sold ahead of the "sell out" position being achieved.

If you look at the list of Occulus events then you see NBA games and some small time music artists.
There is nothing to compare with what Melody are going to provide.

Seeing these large buys of nearly 1 million shares I am starting to wonder if Merian's short is being covertly unwound.
