And they have not kept up with inflation at all over the last decade. Wages have steadily decreased since at least 2008 (I haven't had the time to check further back) and any marginal uptick does not negate that reality.

I also wonder how you square house prices rising every month with the belief you have that there is no housing crisis? I don't understand how you can believe both things to be true. How can you explain prices going up if there is no demand?!

The gall of people to talk about Labour "spinning facts" (debatable) when we have a PM that has been well documented lying to pretty much anything and everything his entire life. Anyway...

We can all argue and play the blame game for the causes for inflation, but the reality is it is here, so what are we going to do about it? The Tories have so far offered zero policies to deal with it while every other major economy in Europe has already introduced a raft of policies aimed at easing the burden on the working class. The Tories only solution it seems is "get back to work"

It beggars belief that on one hand the Tories take credit for historically low unemployment, while also arguing that employment will provide relief to the current financial burdens affecting millions. Those two statements don't really mesh and the reason they don't mesh is that wages have not kept up with inflation, as they haven't for decades, long before this current crisis. If we have historically low unemployment and a cost of living crisis, then clearly "getting back to work" isn't a solution.

I'd love to hear from the Tories on this board what the conservative government is actually doing to ease this crisis for the millions of poor in this country. Because as far as I can tell, their sole priority is making sure they make themselves and their mates rich, while clinging onto power through never-endind scandals. I've yet to see a single piece of legislation that will improve the lives of anyone.

We have the highest inflation in the G7 and a most reasonable economists attribute a healthy chunk of that to Brexit. You can't abandon a huge trading bloc on your doorstep, create mountains of paperwork for anyone trying to import goods, and expect it not to affect business in a meaningful way. Food prices have been increasingly steady since Brexit, long before Ukraine happened.

You'd have to be in utter denial to ignore the reality of what is currently happening and it's really sad to do it to save face. It's honestly the worst type of political position, completely devoid of conviction and only interested in "winning"

First of all, minimum wage has not kept up with inflation for the last five decades, so I'm unsure what point you were trying to make. Just stating the minimum wage isn't an argument.

Employment is also not a guarantor of avoiding poverty if the minimum wage does not keep up with the cost of living. So again, your point makes no sense.

Absolute poverty will increase by around 1 million people this year in the UK. Employment rates have remained fairly stable over the last few years, which suggests that employment has little bearing on poverty. Again, if minimum wage doesn't keep up with inflation or the cost of living, then it really doesn't matter if you are employed.

Secondly it's estimated that at least a million households have been thrown into fuel poverty from April 2022, a 75% increase from 2019, and that figure is expected to drastically increase going into winter, potentially rising several fold.

So suggesting that millions aren't currently in fuel poverty is completely false and wildly out of touch with reality. Reality is something most of us live in, it's generally informed by information and not feelings.

Although reality does have a well-known left bias.
