I have been thinking the same ie HBR could be a takeover target, and indeed there are some TA going on these days even if seldom.
In reality though imo the companies that should be making TA, the big players, are actually selling assets and any other MA is often between small companies, where there is little synergy or strategic advantages.
The best TA that can happen right now is us private investors buying shares and hold.

Is likely that Bof A is buying in also because EIG "another US outfit", is giving the all clear on the operation an potential prospects of HBR going forward.

It as to be said this is frustrating....EIG outfit looks like or is behaving like an investment entity, that stole a huge amount of funds from genuine investors, used/recycled in the stock market, where the rules allowed then to award themselves shares and then now is cashing in for having done nothing what so ever.

For start for example HBR sp has gone down from £5.30 to £3.00 due to the introduction of the tax levy and further on a temporary drop on the POO.
Is there for everyone to see on graph and dates of events, so I very suspicious of soo much negativity from someone that claim to be holding HBR shares......

The only fair adjustment to the tax levy (and very positive for HBR) would be if some exemption was allowed for hedge in place.
Problem is because the tax levy was borne out of a completely idiotic mind, it fail to set an oil price level, above which the levy would be applied.....

POO since SPR has not come down, it was released mainly for political reasons but since Russia has found other market for its oil, SPR will probably continue also because would follow up Biden unsuccessful pledge in South Arabia.
Indicative to Russia gas supply to Europe situation, is recent missile strike at Odessa port, after signing agreement on wheat export. It goes to show that there will be tension and uncertainty for to foreseeable future, to keep POOG at high levels, even is gas supply to Europe start to normalise.
Also I am guessing as soon as we will see inflation number peaking, the USD will come down to support again high oil price, if then the market sentiment will switch to risk-on mode, the tight oil supply market will again push POO higher.
I am really thinking that $100/b is here to stay for good, I also hope this is the case because it will help accelerate development of renewables.
For HBR sp the trend is up now, tax levy super priced in and Indonesia gas discovery not registered yet in the sp, it can not get any worst. When will the sp get momentum is anyone guess but I wouldn't like to be out of HBR right now, lets see H1 result and hopefully more news on tax levy and developments....

Whatever will be the outcome of ENI offer, these are very positive developments for HBR.
I am reading that ENI holds the Krueng Mane Block offshore Aceh in Indonesia license for years now, and to date has done little or no development .
Are they feeling the pressure from Ind gov to invest or else loose the license?
Could ENI if no sale is successful, come up for an offer to buy HBR? They would still be left with partners like BP to develop the region.....
In any case the gas nature of the play, geographical high demand and needs to switch to gas, resource potential and reputable and reliable credential of operators, and last but not least the Indonesian Gov, which with its tax rate is encouraging a fantastic development of the region, I think HBR is in a very nice place.
I wonder if LC relaxed and careless performance to the UK parliamentary panel, is not due to the fact that soon HBR might even divest from the NS and focus to other shores?

Am I correct in assuming that at current oil/gas price rage, HBR having payed all debit by end of 2022, next year would be making a profit higher than current market cap?
The company Directors stated that going forward they will create shareholder value by distributing profit to shareholders, (it would be nice for them given they help themselves with so many share awards recently)
Could it be possible that also us will receive as much as 100% return every year on our investment, between share buy back and dividends, if energy prices stay this high?

Last time I checked, higher gas prices were caused also because of unexpected drop in wind and solar energy production.
How is possible to have energy prices regulated by the market, but expect that they stick to certain ranges dictated by some arbitrary target set by the environmentalist? Arbitrary because they don't take in consideration the dynamic evolution of human activities, economies and some time the whether itself.
For example "carbon offset" what a massive buls@it.
For start it is tradeable, hence it value doesn't reflect the damage to the environment, why, because nobody knows in the end if human activities are actually coursing any damage in the first place.
