and Brazil, should reduce the profit before tax, In stead of increasing the tax rate?
The way it is worded sound like the company has payed higher tax rate on expense item
but expense is a cost not a gain,.

it is not so straight forward as financial edge providers are not so crazy to allow producers to edge at peak oil prices, without covering their risks...
Hence the cost of edging would increase if the price is perceived too high/risky for edge providers, or edge may not be available at all at some levels.
This is my interpretation of edge provision.
Really edges should be and are used to protect a company from losses, not to make gains.
Indeed the management of a oil company should be focusing on operation and production and not on financial speculation and ultimately bets on oil price.
HBR has a large edge on production due to the huge debit it has/had compare to its market cap, at some point use to be bigger than market cap.
This perceived ratios is reducing kind of exponentially because while debit is reducing, the market cap is hopefully increasing.
For a while now many positives for HBR have occurred, including new oil discovery, increasing production and oil price, balanced out by the introduction of new tax levy.
Of recent HBR sp action as be very positive even when main market or oil price has been down.
It goes to show that something is changing in the perception from investors of HBR potential. No doubt imo the Indonesia oil discovery has been a game change for future HBR prospect and maybe the market is starting to recognise that.
But edge have little effect of hbr sp because the one in place have been already priced in and the future edge are unknown and only speculations which depend on so many factors....

What is not fully priced in is debit reduction, new oil discoveries and increased production.
Judging by today sp action seems all is well.

Algo driven model needs to be updated as and when to factor in all variables, only human mind can do that in real time.
Hence algo some time create opportunities...

Is not very clear if capex offsetting qualifies on the principle of accounting period , or investment decision..
But assuming it is on the base of investment decision, I wonder how is going to be accounted for a qualifying capex investment made say.. a week before the levy will expire?!
IMV it is to be interpreted on the bases of accounting period, not investment decision, where already the principles of qualifying or not is aiming to restrict the generous allowance.

with HBR producing mostly from the NS, having immediate deduction of 91% capex has to be a positive.
Assuming that this an opportunity that won't last for ever, it only make sense to have a balanced but effective capex deployment in the NS.
Unfortunately in absence of more detailed information on at which POO the levy would be scrapped, best thing to do imo is focus on Indonesia and other exploration.

No doubt as HBR sp start to rise, there will be ever more shorting the share, feeling the need to post negative comments on the company.
But is from the level of desperate and pathetic arguments, that one can be reassured in which direction hbr sp will go.

More than 26d exp, which been a trending average price as not strong tech value, there as been now for a little while in place a bullish divergence signal from RSI.
Given the current fundamental set up for HBR and with this most reliable tech signal, imo opportunity here arise for a buy and hold investment.
But surely Bollinger or MA can also be used for short term trading.

some time I feel for USA...I know they and the West in general mean good with their policies, but it is all lost in translation. Too much liberalism in the name of profit is wrong.
