Couerdelion - As we all know by now, NAV is totally academic in Tek’s case.

Tek’s SP has never borne any relation to a sum-of-the-parts valuation because its business model is seen by investors as fundamentally flawed & a value destroyer.

If you don’t believe me, just look at the share price & NAV:SP charts over the past few years. The evidence is clear for all to see.

If it weren't so tragic, I'd find this part of Tek's latest RNS quite funny:

"About Tekcapital Plc

Tekcapital® CREATES VALUE (my caps) from investing in new, university-developed discoveries"

They also say:

"A product of Tekcapital's technology incubator, GenIP's Invention Evaluator and Vortechs have been instrumental in COMMERCIALISING (again, my caps) numerous technological innovations, allowing them to develop from a clean piece of paper to operating companies and listed spinouts."

Isn't commercialising when you actually create value. Rather than destroying it?

StrictlyZinc - Nvidia was trimmed some time between June & July this year. So fortunately, not at the low point. And some way above what it is today.

yorkmeister - I agree SMT should benefit from Fed rate cuts. And the first of those is clearly coming soon. However, I don't think the US economy is at a "cliff edge". Nor do I think the Fed (or Bank of England come to that) will cut quite as frequently as some might hope. I'd expect one - or at the most two - Fed cuts this year and one further rate cut from the BOE. Probably in Nov - to soften the blow slightly from Reeves' October tax raids.

Even you should realise by now that Tek's value does not - by a long way - equal the sum of its parts. Never has done. And probably never will.

Biffbaffboff - that RNS gives a WHOLE new meaning to the word "regular"!

Mol42 - it's interesting that the RNS you quote says near the start Opti "HAS REACHED AGREEMENT (my caps) to launch its own brands of SlimBiome®, GoFigure®, and Snacksmart® products online with Boots in Q1 2024".

Yet further down the same release, it continues "We are pleased to report the PLANNED LAUNCH (my caps again!) of our SlimBiome®, GoFigure®, and Snacksmart® products online with Boots in Q1 2024"

As we now know, there appears to be a big difference between "planned launch" & "reaching agreement". To me, reaching agreement means something's been signed off, not that it's just some vague aspiration.

Seamanp911 - let's hope not, though it wouldn't surprise me if he'd bored himself to death giving all those "Business for Dummies" updates.

Your argument supposes the SP actually goes up of course. In recent years, Tek hasn't exactly defied gravity.

Whilst the online B2B ingredients partner might eventually become significant, the following part of the RNS caught my attention most:

"the Company is in advanced discussions with major food manufacturers, with volume commitments of approximately 350,000 lbs"

That's the only way Microsalt is really going to take off. All those announcements of 2oz & 6oz salt shaker retail placements are little more than noise in the great scheme of things.

I'm only a holder here via Tek. Not directly. Still think Microsalt will struggle to take off, but hoping I'm wrong. Heaven knows Tek holders need something to work. Big time!

But whatever brave face Lordmakealoss puts on today, you can bet he'll be regretting telling us all about his Friday buy, when he could have paid less this morning.

See, that's the trouble with all these posters who tell us they've just added another million shares today. They either have a tendency to go eerily quiet when the price subsequently drops. Or they tell us they're in for the long term and just you wait & see. Not that I'm saying Lordmakealotofnoise won't eventually generate a profit on his latest buy. Nobody knows. But I find it extremely tedious hearing about everyone's huge purchases all the time, yet them never revealing much about any sales.

Lordmakealot - from "glad I was in on Friday" to "wish I'd waited" in just a matter of hours.

Gotrader/Guildedge - the figures you quote are consensus broker estimates which are utterly worthless.

You only have to look at their own table, showing forecasts going back 1 year, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month & 1 week to see they change their mind as often as the facts change.

They haven’t a clue. If results were to improve in a year’s time, guess what? The brokers would all suddenly start raising their estimates again. They’re pretty much totally reactive, so not worth the paper they’re written on.

My understanding is TEK’s only commitment to holding Salt shares is the initial 12 month lock-in period post-IPO.

They’ll probably hold onto them like all their other stakes, which as we know is a strategy that’s paid off handsomely to date. Not.

Strictly - surely that pretty much applies to ANY portfolio though.

And the risk from not diversifying would be far higher.

Kaeren - some events are predictable, others (like this one) aren't. That's the only reason Bo announced it the way he did.

Any company referencing a specific date when they can't guarantee to hit it is just asking for trouble.

Kaeren - you’re reading way too much into things.

Bo didn’t name a date weeks in advance because he “knows how the market works”. It’s simply because he couldn’t accurately predict how long the new rig would take to source & mobilise.

So instead he gave a range. Simples. Sensible. But hardly rocket science.

Ihavenoclue - I'm sure you & everyone else knows it's perfectly possible to buy a few weeks after IPO @ 10.6p, sell some @ 21p, leaving a 3p average on the remainder.

Equally, hopefully everyone knows CGT is calculated on the difference between cost & disposal, not on any surplus share values.

All of which really begs the question, why not buy shares like this within an ISA where CGT doesn't apply! At least, not until Rachel Thieves' dreaded 30th October budget......

IMHO, it's this comms vacuum that's largely responsible for the SP drift. Tim promised us better newsflow & has since delivered the exact opposite. A cynic might almost suspect he's got his hands so full with Incanthera, he just can't be bothered with IMM at the moment.
