Perhaps before feeling angry he should ask himself WHY Tek’s performance has been such a disaster recently. The simple answer is it’s all down to p*ss poor execution, with him not doing what he repeatedly said he would for shareholders.

Holders clearly didn’t know in advance there’d be a hitch with the Mowry shale. Nor will they have been able to second-guess the daily share price trajectory ever since.

It’s always a question of balancing up risk v. reward at any given moment, then acting accordingly. Oberon, for example, reduced on 11th Oct to lock in a guaranteed profit. Sure, they could have timed it better. But if re-entry ends up proving problematic, they could also have timed it much worse. And presumably that’s what influenced their decision. Bird in the hand and all that.

Theofficecat - for the avoidance of any doubt, perhaps you’d like to tell us all exactly when your limit order went through & for what amount.

Brentw1 - having endured yesterday's surge in daft ramping posts (now filtered), yours struck me as both fair & balanced.

The only thing I'd say to you (& Kaeren) is that whilst there'd be enough money to drill a second well if required, an RNS to this effect would send the SP quite a bit lower.

Whilst many PIs are clamouring for speedy updates, I personally hope we DON'T get any RNSs before next week.

Any glitches would be reported sooner than if things are running smoothly. So no news is good news as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think Labour will "tax businesses out of existence".

If - as some are speculating - they increase NI on employer pension contributions, it may reduce the number of new vacancies &/or salary sacrifice schemes. Businesses would survive, but might offer fewer jobs. And some employees might put less into their pensions, potentially storing up a problem for the state longer term.

If casing risks were minimal, the SP wouldn't be at this level. And whilst Bo sounded reasonably confident, he did also point out the risks.

As - more obviously - did David with his "we've got fingers and toes crossed" comment. Hardly the voice of an unreserved optimist.

I'm not saying they won't succeed. And as a holder here, I sincerely hope they do. But to imply the risks are minimal simply flies in the face of facts.

Dn2024 - speculation the budget might change rules, with AIM shares potentially losing Business Property Relief status.

This currently incentivises investors to hold certain AIM shares like HAT, thereby qualifying for IHT exemption.

The flipside is that changing BP relief would discourage investors from supporting smaller fledgling businesses which have greater potential for above average growth, but often carry higher risk as a result. So it wouldn’t be wholly in keeping with the government’s stated growth agenda.

Personally, I doubt they’ll mess with it for this very reason. But by holding the budget so long after coming into power, Labour have shot themselves in the foot somewhat. Stalling investment & creating uncertainty at the very time they’re trying to kickstart the economy.

Probably explains the timing of today’s investment summit. To try to deflect the headlines away from endless speculation about potential nasties on 30th October.

If they couldn't secure a better deal, you have to ask yourself why the banks / financial institutions weren't prepared to lend below 13% when base is currently "only" 5% and set to fall significantly further over the 3 year loan term?

Sure, lenders have to make a margin. But you'd have thought they could have secured better if it's such a surefire acquisition.

Aren't you all overlooking the 13% interest rate payable to David Brierwood? Not to mention the extra dilution.

If the acquisition's such a good deal & cash-positive from the outset, why not simply finance it with an overdraft / loan?

If they couldn't find a bank / financial institution willing to do this for less than 13%, it begs the question whether the deal really is quite so cash-generative & attractive.

Sheephatch - that SBTX acquisition is largely funded by a shareholder loan at a 13% interest rate.

Given it's an alleged cash-positive acquisition, couldn't they have secured cheaper overdraft funding from a bank / other financial institution, rather than paying said shareholder 13%?

The tweet gives NO indication on timing, except to say "mobilisation continues" and "swift progress as Hex gears up to re-enter the well".

Aquae - as far as I can see, those rumours are nothing but idle speculation until someone can point to concrete evidence SOH was ever hospitalised.

Either way, his latest RNS is the usual vague froth with no solid numbers to tell us HOW much better things are.

Frankly, I doubt any LTH falls for that sort of guff any longer.

Show us the money SOH. Not some vague " long-term growth potential" waffle which we've heard so many times before. Yet never really benefitted from.

I suspect Opti's too small to be on many activists' radars, but you never know.

One alternative - if SOH doesn't want to load up with more shares - would be for him to make his salary & any bonus performance related. Not just in terms of increasing sales either. But linked to share price performance. So he actually has to start generating some decent profits if he's to continue reaping the rewards.

I'm not trying to be negative for the sake of it (as I am a holder here).

But I do find some of the uber-optimistic posts rather tedious, so am just trying to inject a bit of balance.
