I think we can safely deduce SOH isn't the easiest guy to work for.

You don't lose that many senior execs without the CEO being partly to blame.

I'm sure we all wish SOH well. But perhaps he should now reflect on looking after himself & being a bit more hands-off, by recruiting an experienced leader with an actual track record of delivering the goods. Cos let's face it he hasn't. And we've waited long enough now.

Simple way to legitimately avoid CGT altogether is to hold shares in an ISA.

Unless Rachel Thieves decides to mess with that too. Which would be pretty underhand - especially retrospectively - as a lot of investors use ISAs as part of their long term retirement planning.

If you bothered reading IQE’s latest outlook statement, you’d soon realise that.

Yes, the share price has often risen after previous periods of severe decline. But unless you can call the bottom accurately (which would largely be down to luck), catching a falling knife is a mug’s game.

We're now possibly facing another few days of more limited newsflow, before the next trigger event.

Hex thrives on updates, so until there is one, I suspect it's likely to remain relatively rangebound.

There again, I expected it to go down further than it did when the Mowry shale issue was first announced.

I guess that's good in a way. I've had my fill of volatile AIM shares over the years. So anything that moves a bit more gently is all good as far as I'm concerned.

Doesn’t this imply they were trying to reach Precambrian but didn’t?

I’m still not totally clear what the full implications of this part of the RNS are: “ the Company deepened the Clink #1 to 8,550 ft to determine if the Precambrian could be reached. Precambrian rock was not found but a second thick Cambrian sandstone horizon was found at 8,290 ft all the way to total depth.”

Well I only got it half right, as I sold half my holding when the Mowry shale issue first came to light.

Of course my point’s pretty bl**ding obvious. So’s the counter-argument that the SP could soar if re-entry goes smoothly & wire testing’s positive.

Yet whilst plenty of posters are happy to post the latter ad nauseum, you rarely read about the risks.

Investment should always be about balancing the two, not just endlessly trotting out the positives, whilst glossing over any risks.

Zen19 - I’m afraid all that demonstrates is the uselessness of analysts, rather than any short term potential in IQE.

Longer term the analysts could eventually be right. In much the same way even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.

My one problem with this morning's "sky's the limit" posts is that they all seem to ignore the SP outcome if the shale issue can't be fixed.

As a holder, I obviously hope it can and am pleased we haven't had an RNS to the contrary yet.

But it's still worth remembering that alongside all the talk of £2 a share, we'd likely suffer a substantial drop even from current low levels if the casing fails.

Ihavenoclue - a shale update certainly wouldn't be tweeted, as it's far too market-sensitive info.

I agree it'll be RNS'd, whether good or bad news.

Don't think you can read anything into that tweet either way.

Though as I said before, no news (pretty much what that tweet was) is good news ATM.
