- EESL have tenders tabled for Jharkhand ( Ranchi ) and Odisha, but for different amounts that Imperiallondon has informed us of. So maybe different projects. Submission date - 10th December, 2019.

The total number of meters for the 7 projects, comes to approximately 4.5 million. Which seems to be the approximate Pan India total amount, of 5 million.

So it would seem that the regions have been designated with appropriate numbers, for the Pan India tender.

- The Larsen&Toubro/Trilliant/EESL project gets a mention and provides some detail on the contract.

- The region of Jammu and Kashmir, despite the differences and political situation, seem to be progressing with the re-design of their water distribution infrastructure system, to try and head off a water crisis.

Most of these smart meter/meter projects go through many twists and turns on the way to eventual approval. In specification required, date required, solution required and numbers required.

Eventually, we may get to know when the process is complete.

Yes, the proposed project in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is indeed the eye-catching prospect, of the projects listed. But it does not give a solution preference? So we will have to see how the projects/tenders work out.

But if it is/they are, RF projects, it could be very promising.

We understand that CyanConnode are very busy tendering for various projects, so we will have to wait and see if anything is forth-coming in the near future.

In the NSGM Smart Grid Pilot Projects ( Under IPDS ) you kindly posted, I see that the two projects undertaken by Enzen/CyanConnode ( Mysore ) and Genus/CyanConnode ( Gujarat ) have been recognised as " Project completed." Which is always good to know.

......... is another good find Vas. As you have indicated, the document seems to have been published on May 2nd, 2019, but I cannot find a " Bid Submission " date. So how far it has progressed, it is difficult to say.

.......... Vas, seems very interesting and welcome, although the " submission date " is not until October 22nd, 2019. So there may not be any news on this particular tender until November/December time. Maybe even New Year 2020.

........ have been involved for about 18 months now, I think Vas, with this tender. From what I can remember. Probably going back to the " Reverse Auction " period. But as you say, it will be interesting to see how the " Not-spot " or similar problems are over-come.

mrsas, I/we have seen the Faham document before, as I think you suggested, around the time we received the original order from Micromodje. But I had forgotten that there was a Chinese involvement. Let alone the Hexing Electrical involvement. So thank you for the reminder.

Imperiallondon, Iran did get an update/mention in both the 2018 Finals Results Report, published May 2019 and also the Interim Results Report, published September 2019.

From the Finals Report:- " The previously announced contracts in Iran and Bangladesh are still active, although they have suffered delays. The delay to the Iran contract is largely due to geopolitical factors. The Company is in discussion with its Partners, to find alternative routes to progress these contracts."

From the Interim Results, published September 2019:- " Due to geopolitical factors, which have accelerated in recent months, the Company has removed from its order pipeline, an Iranian order from Micromodje for a smart metering contract that was announced in February 2016. The customer has not cancelled this contract, however the Company felt it prudent to remove the order as a result of the political tensions."

So it will be interesting to see if anything happens with these contracts, as far as any Chinese involvement is concerned.

I have not heard of this company before, but they seem to understand the processes required and have worked on smart meter/smart grid pilot projects, throughout Europe and South America.

Another point to maybe consider, is the CyanConnode Newsletter published during February 2019, concerning the Beijing Instruments Licencing Deal and the mention of the way production/installation is " tracked."

I think you refered to it previously as a " unique identifier." CyanConnode refers to it as a " unique handshake " or an " asymmetric key." I believe this is used to protect both parties, both customer and CyanConnode, in the journey the licence takes, from manufacture, through to delivery and onto installation.

CyanConnode can track when a licence is manufactured, when it is installed in the meter and eventually, as I understand it, where the meter/licence is eventually installed.

I would imagine the " activation " comes in, at one of these stages.

As we understand it, there were 150k smart meters converted to mesh, as of the end of May 2019. Roughly. Toshiba had supplied 1.5 million hubs to DCC. This seems to be woring on the 10% requirement/ratio for " not-spots."

Different areas may/will require a different " not-spot " requirement, so the percentage/numbers will change accordingly, as installations take place in various regions.

All in my opinion of course.

I think what you are reading, is a classic journalistic mistake and a combination of 2 sets of figures that come up with a combined wrong answer. The 2.4 million smart meters, seems to be the estimated 10% of the total figure, which has been stated by the reporter as being for installation in 2019. When it is far longer than that.

In India, for example, every contract or tender, seems to be reported for " smart meters." But we know that many contracts in India, are not for smart meters as we know it. They may be smarter than they already have, if they have one at all.

If SMETS1 was totally " smart " they would not have developed SMETS2.

As another pointer to what I am saying, I have attached another report, posted nearly 2 years ago, about the Ukraine and Iraq.

Just to add, this report about Iraq, has nothing to do with CyanConnode, although it did cause some comment on the bb at the time.

The report mentions about the Ukraine, being in negotiations with Iraq, initially to supply 1 million smart meters. It then seemlessly moves into reporting about NIK and CyanConnode, giving the impression they are somehow related reports.

When in fact they are not related at all.

Maybe coincidentally, the 500,000 pre-paid licences, that were sold by Connnode before the aquisition by Cyan, multiply that by the one off £3.60 activation fee per licence that Imperiallondon mentioned, comes to £1.8m. Which is very close the " £2m revenue taken from this contract to date " referenced in the CyanConnode 2019 Interim Results Powerpoint.

Imperiallondon, thank you for your understanding of the UK contract, it is appreciated. It also mentions in the CyanConnode Interim Results - 2019 ( Powerpoint Presentation ) page 14, which I have mentioned before, that " £2m revenue taken from this contract to date."

So maybe it refers to £2m being taken from the contract during the Connode/CyanConnode years, prior to 2019. There is no material revenue expected from the UK contract during 2019. But revenues from the UK roll-out are expected to grow from 2020.

Whether that will change with the 4 year extention to the time-scale of the UK contract, announced yesterday, we will have to wait an see.
