I did post the same report about EESL and Thailand, during the Summer.

It is interesting to note, that the interest/involvement seems to have grown, between EESL/IntelliSmart/National Investment and Infrastructure Fund ( NIIF ) and CyanConnode, at least as far as the initial discussion stages are concerned, since the Summer and over recent months.

Still early days yet. But I feel the first steps seem to have been taken.

Expression of Interest ( EoI ) from consulting firms to accelerate implementation of our Smart Meters National Programe. The programe will lead to improvement in billing efficiency, real-time monitoring of energy usage & reduction in operational costs of utilities. ( MinOfPower.)"

But you may have already seen some information I posted in early November 2019, about a similar tender? EESL were not mentioned at the time, but they may be getting involved at a later stage, as things progress.

- This is for the First Phase of a tender involving the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation.

- It does mention Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

- It also mentions pre-paid and post-paid meters.

- It does mention a " web-based monitoring system."

- And it does mention the overall value of the project being R's1200 million ( GBP13m approx.)

So we will have to wait and see if there is any connection or progress, as 2020 unfolds. One way or the other. But as we know these tenders can take some time. Some have been put back 2,3,4 times. But you never know.

Some months ago, you may remember that Anil gave us some figures of 11m/12m units, over a 5 year period, that would be converted to RF meters, out of the total of 250m meters total, which CyanConnode could conservatively convert into revenue. Approximately 2.2m/2.4m meters a year, over the next 5 years. Potentially.

I believe the total potential for RF meters over 5 years was estimated at 60m. But Anil and CyanConnnode estimated a 20% share of the 60m RF meters.

But with this potential development with EESL, in particular, the speculative 5% of 250m has the potential to increase.

There is a lot of " potential " I have mentioned here. But I believe that is what we are investing in.

I agree with your 15:56 post. I think it is possibly beneficial to both companies that some detail on the early November meeting was made public. The announcement today, indicates a broader approach to smart metering, than was previously indicated, which can only be beneficial to both companies.

I would not call a truely smart meter, " .... a very basic machine ...... " I do not think that the IS 16444 standard is a " .... very low bar ...... " standard. There does not seem to be any evidence of " ...... bargin basement producers ....... " being involved in the Indian Smart Meter initiative, to any great degree. Or that the value of orders has dropped dramatically, or " ..... driven costs through the floor ...... " as you seem to suggest.

While the busier the market, the more competitive the price. And CyanConnodes' latest order proves they are still competitive, in a competitive market, with a major meter manufacturer in India.

But that is only my opinion.

As I have also said, it is good to have " ...... confirmation of discussions and areas of discussion ......... " between various organisations, which include EESL and CyanConnode.

But the situation is hopefully changing from the early, bulk tenders, initially put forward by EESL, to a more targeted approach.

And CyanConnode do have some additional RF solutions in their armoury, that have been developed over recent times, that may now be very attractive to the Indian Government and EESL in particular.

As you have mentioned on many occasions, the EESL projects are going extremely well. So why cast doubt on them now. The three year target for electric meter installation, ( not all smart ) is an Indian Government target. Anil suggested some months ago, that he thought it would be more like 5 years.

But this mornings video announcement about confirmation of discussions and areas of discussion, was very encouraging.

But you have seemed to cast doubt over the years, that CyanConnode would ever be involved with EESL. Todays announcement seems to clarify and verify the true position.

It is interesting to note, that John Cronin has the confidence to publically mention a dialogue that seems to be actively taking place between various groups within the India Smart Meter/Smart Grid/Indian Government, which includes CyanConnode.

Yes, it's always good to get a bit more detail and some " flesh on the bones " of a contract, where possible. It is difficult with the amount of information that can be given out, because of contractural concerns and competitor concerns. But some additional information is always appreciated.

But as we all should realize, until CyanConnode get a regular recognized revenue stream, attached to recognized orders, what has happened since Monday, will happen.

It is unfortunate that the contracts have been delayed and any revenue from Mondays order is 12/18/24 months into the future, but that is the way it seems to be.

Gives an insite into smart metering development in general, in India and also mentions about the risks of Cyber attacks and some of the protocols employed to guard against them.

Indore gets a mention.

We were discussing Fibre Optic cable as a solution for delivery a few weeks ago I seem to remember, that gets a mention. And also RF/Cellular/Hybrid are also mentioned " ..... for smart metering deployments in India."

I posted something similar in November 2019, on the Genus Investor Call, but thank you for the reminder.

The Genus Power position within the smart meter market and the difficulties, even they, are experiencing getting tenders over the line, gives another separate insite into the markets that CyanConnode are in and how time-scales can often move.

A point I mentioned in November was about a 5 million meter tender from EESL, that Genus pointed out was due during October 2019, but that it may be moved to mid-November 2019. But they do expect it to be quoted. Eventually.

This was mentioned on page 7.

The report also mentions about " ... Chinese players ....." and EESL, on page 5, which you may also find of interest, if you have not read that particular part.
