Didn't you lose £22k? You can't wipe away your posts - you ramped.. you invested.. you lost.. and now you pretend your investment choice never existed... you really shouldn't mock others for being invested here - you don't have a leg to stand on

Well for the record - you have a nerve to come on her and tell investors they are "mugs" for investing here - you obviously have no need to stay over on Interserve so have moved on to this thread .. that's called TROLLING.. so if I am a mug - you are a troll. You know, it's so easy to look for the dodgy high risk bombed out shares and start posting on them - looking like the big know it all because you are more than likely to be right - perhaps you would have more respect if you had started posting on here six months ago with warnings - not this late in the day - when the fate of Debenhams - one way or the other - will be decided within days. I hope for a MA takeover or a refinancing - and like Mothercare - a gradual share price recovery - then the mugs will be the ones who trolled and didn't bother investing. Non holders have nothing to lose do they? Yet they come on to "warn others" LOL we all know the risks mate and don't need for advice - go post on your actual investments if you have any (same to you Smartie)

Fair enough - but Next shares were 6-8p (I got them at 11p) .. it was loss making .. in dire straits .. and nobody could see a way out .. and it was in retail.. OK times have changed with online - but online isn't the direct problem here is it? Debenhams online business and overseas operations are doing "fine".. it's the high street element that is dire and still makes up 70% of turnover. Close 40-50 stores - get online revenue at around 50% of the total - keep the smaller modern stores - and if allowed via new funding to survive - I see no reason why Debenhams cannot continue trading for years to come barring conditions getting even worse. Also the other comparison was that the Next share price was bombed out... I am not saying recovery will happen here.. I am just saying I have been invested in similar sector companies that HAVE recovered .. ok?

Jwood1 - welcome and I agree that the odds are against us here... but don't give up hope. I was told it was game over on NEXT back in the late 1980s.. what happen there? Ditto Helphire.. Totally.. Some retailers have recovered (Mothercare) some will not.. the best case here atm appears to be a CVA - fund raising - or takeover. Worse case - admin. Lets hope its one of the best case outcomes

Meta - yeah.. I can see you have been posting on that share (which I actually did not know before making my last comment - spooky)... there's just no need though to use the term - have you never made a mistake? Made an investment loss? Perhaps you are the type of guy who keeps his cash under the bed - or invests in premium bonds - or just bonds - fine - better safe than sorry but boring isn't for me. I pick winners. I also pick losers. Fair enough - I don't tell anyone else were to invest and I definitely will not put a label on any poster whose investment style is different to mine! (of course if you advise of the risks and they are realised - like Interserve - then you did your best to warn people - some might have made money day trading over the months - others will have lost the lot BUT IT WAS THEIR DECISION AND THEIR MONEY)

That's a dreadful term ("mugs") .. this mug has acquired many small cap shares at near historic lows and made a decent profit - of course sometimes it will not be successful and I have lost money ... however, this mug over twenty years have done quite well thank you investing in the higher risk end of the market (although now over 50 I might start to become more cautious). Remember too, that you can invest in a large cap company like Interserve and then 6-12 months later lose your money.. it's not related to the market value or sector - companies get suspended and go bust for various reasons.. funny that shorters are never called mugs... !!!!!!!!

I understand why some MPs are moving to support the withdrawal agreement (remember the future trading arrangements comes next)... it will mean we actually leave the EU (even if it feels like we have not). ie. agree the deal and the remainers know imho the game is over to some extent. Why? Because once we leave .. we will have to reapply to rejoin - even if via a referendum - and the EU will expect the UK to rejoin on different terms - no rebate - join the Euro - agree to further intergration - euro army - the lot. Lets get the deal pass the line (if you voted to leave) and even if it feels like you lost the battle - you might win the war. (personally I have no problems getting most of the current trading regulations - after all we agreed and voted for most of them - the key is whether the UK can negotiate future trade deals and change some rules and regulations - over time - if it wants to for sealing future deals or for competitive reasons - that's the real batter ahead - if we leave)

Pearls - to be fair - I think literally every single bull and bear argument has been debated here several times over - and we are now all just waiting for news of any agreed refinancing - whether via the banks or MA or a n other. M&S moving more of their store space to food makes sense especially since more clothes are now purchased online (than food?). However it isn't going to happen overnight - it will take at least 6-12 months to take effect - ditto any chance to business rates or an online tax or any other measures than might help Debenhams. The issue is NOW and what measures can be taken to keep the company running - remember too it is not just us long/short holders - it's the staff.. the customers.. the suppliers.. bondholders.. we are need to know whether the company can resolved at least some of its current issues gl

Just noticed the drop - it could be one of the (former) bond holders who exchanged for shares selling down? It could be an early bed & breakfast trade? It would be a share issue/another bond conversion that has not been RNS yet? It would be good to know...

Pearls - without pointing the finger - as a general point - I would argue that the shorters are very pro-active on BB threads promoting the negative case (and to be fair - it's valid here). Smartie2 - if I am honest - all your possible outcomes are probably just as likely ie. 20% each. Right, back to work :-(

I note Mothercare is ticking up this morning.. also JD Sports have made a recommended takeover offer for FOOT. My point is that there is obviously still value in the sector which is ripe for consolidation. Debenhams obviously isn't going to make any takeover/merger offers but it's clear at least SPD may make an offer and perhaps a third party? Of course they may wait and try to pick up Debenhams at a later date but what's the point of having similar department chains under one ownership when two are in the same town? One will have to close and they may eventually end up with just a handful of HoF/Debs stores looking at the mess they are making of HoF atm.
As for making percentage predictions - what's the point? If I say it's a 30% chance of a white knight appearing - another poster will only disagree. I will say I still don't think administration is at the top of the list below but it has moved up a place or two GLA

Two points. Only a fool should trade on BB comment. Also it works both ways. Shattered scaring people could make some not invest on a decent buying opportunity - general point.
It's been obvious for weeks MA hopes to buy Debs post admin. Look at his track record. The loan offer might therefore be a red herring. Personally if he blocks attempts to save the group he should be barred from getting his hands on the company unless he's the only party in town

Nomlungh, if any shareholder or investor considering an investment are not aware of the real risks here then they should not be investing. I totally except this could go belly up and why I am trying to stay positive is simple. My long term find was for the company and the fact 30,000 jobs are at stake. Obviously sentiment gets you nowhere in this game and I doubt most BB comment makes a blind bit of difference to our investment decisions.

You are right except it's a moving goal post - if bonds drop to 30p it will be 133% and it bonds go back to 60p it will be 35% - rough calculations - I repeat - I just focus on the current yield but there are different angles to look at the bond situation - the price has been around this level now for a while - the dreadful yield (over two years to maturity) is nothing new and probably reflects the fact it appears bonds are not currently expected to be repaid - not at nominal pricce anyway.. I do agree though that we don't discuss the bonds element enough and we must remember countless listed companies now have massive corporate debt (I must have 200 holdings in our portfolio - different ratings from A to C+) .. i expect the bubble will burst at some point ie. I recall Vodafone has £8 billion in corporate bond debt - is this substantial long term?? Apologies again re my looking at one angle and not acknowledge your calcs - it was not intentional and perhaps I am just a bit too suspicious of motives here

Do you think I am daft? Of course i know the repayment amount is £1 - my pension scheme has bond portfolios - but I did not misled - 47p paying 5.25p is 11% AT THE MOMENT ISN'T IT - i doubt it states 44% next to the bond holding if you have it in your portfolio - there are different ways to calculate current and future returns - so perhaps we can both say we are right - bonds trade at discounts and premiums all the time - most investors look at the current bond yield - i do. Not what they are suppose to get repaid in a number of years time
