Yup gold star
Mountainous - I completely understand what your saying and feel the same, I’ve held on really really hard, but yesterday was a nothing event, no love at all for shareholders, no positive thing that the board are proactively doing to improve things.
I regret my holding and now know how the mosquito in the amber felt (bonus point, which film?)
I’m circa 70% down and have sold 33% at a huge loss, I feel like a fool and don’t know why i should trust the Canadian Justin (not a typo) system with my cash, what’s left of it anyway.
I know this will likely recover, but unlike Mooky and the BOD I don’t have forever, I thought I was ready to hold for gold no matter what. After yesterday I’m not sure.

Reppyrr - really well put.

Mountainous - I would imagine all the recent debts will be secured against the business in one way or another, cineplex being unsecured in the event of an insolvency settlement would see next to nothing….but would see cineworld out of business!!! Oh and we would all be zeroed out I assume.
There is another way of interpreting the phrase unsecured debtor….what I mean is it that perhaps we will play the game see if we can make it go away as normal, if we lose……so what there is no security, I honestly don’t know how cineplex could compel Cineworld to pay…….in fact it could be against the law (British) for them to pay an unsecured debt which would prejudice secured debtors and make the co insolvent…….just a thought.

Hi Bonkers
If we lose the appeal we will be in very deep poopey
GLA LTH’s
That’s a fair point Hexam,
Begs the question as to why tease the listing if they weren’t serious or knew they couldn’t progress the idea.
GLA LTH’s
Having let the preliminary results sink in I have a question for my fellow genuine LTH’……..are you reading it as I am that the potential future of our company lies (will lie) in the hands of judge Conway?
Again reiterate my disappointment that no US listing update was made, feels like the only thing they could proactively to give a meaningful and lasting SP boost.
GLA LTH’s
One thing is obvious from reading these results…….the Cineplex issue needs to be resolved PDQ!!!!
Shame there was no mention / details of a US listing.
At least there weren’t any nasty surprises lolol

Hi Bonkers - in my opinion we will see legitimate cause for celebration, because I am expecting to see a business that is without question recovering, not full recovered, but on the way. My guess turnover approx 75-85% of 19, with a H2 that improved from start to finish.
I’d love to hear more about any prospective US listing assuming it’s to our advantage of course.
I’d really love to hear that an out of court settlement had been agreed with cineplex.
The bad news…..I think regardless of how positive the results, I fear it will be for nought due to the Ukrainian situation & and SP improvement will be deferred until that’s resolved and the oil price settles. This isn’t without recent example because we are as yet to see any benefit of covid evaporating.
So in short good news that could be great or even really great…..but a deferral of SP bump.
That’s my guess anyway.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been to see Batman and it was a good film, my gut says it may have “legs” as they say…..

Yesterday I was really freaking out, really concerned and really stressed. I took the BB’ advice and tuned out for the day and went for a round of golf……..
Well….just tuned in……sometimes you’ve got to laugh haven’t you, I’m not stressed or worrying now as the world seems so bananas that anything could happen next.
Catching up on today’s posts I agree with the sentiment that we will be holding for a fair while. I look forward to laughing and crying with you for the foreseeable future.
The only good news is that we must be near the bottom (of human bad behaviour) as there are only two step left, World war and nuclear war, both of which will make our investments irrelevant. Win win if you think about it.

Riskass- the problem is I’ve been here a year already and don’t have an infinite pot to top up from….

Yeah guys that’s all I want, Something / anything from the board to hang onto. At the moment I feel like a mug. I really don’t understand the drift, especially with what’s expected to be a good set of results coming in a couple of weeks. Makes me really nervous as to wether they are terrible! Like I say the silence is deafening / making me nervous.
Also where are all the trolls, this fact is weird also, maybe even sinister imo.
GLA LTH’s
I’m really needing to hear something from the Board as to what the hell is going on with our SP…..this is getting ridiculous now. I had been thinking this was oil related but now not sure.
The last time we had a weak drifting SP ended with a lost court case as the punchline. Is there bad news coming. Can this really all be down to Ukraine? That doesn’t make sense to me.
Sorry for the depressing post, but I’m 75% down and need to see something positive coming, Covid is done & no effect on the SP. WTF is going on.
I’m in hell right now.

Great post TS, much appreciated on days like this.
Ian - I’ve heard much noise about the US listing but never anything about a share buyback to facilitate it, could you elaborate please? Details?
GLA LTH’s
Hi Username - I’ve been waiting for the big re rate for months now, every time I’ve felt like it “must” happen now we’ve been hit with for example - unexpected restrictions, discovery of omicron, loss court case, Putin etc…..I definitely think it will rerate but my expectation has been soooo wrong so many times, I’m left to patiently wait lol.
I agree, In principal without Russia, the world is actually not in a bad place and every respective economy should recover (from the perspective of function not necessarily economically) within 12 months so am hopeful the Ukrainian situation can be peacefully resolved asap, I note China has offered to potentially broker a peace deal.
I chose the name because I’m a dog lover and there is a phrase about coming home and kicking the dog, was supposed to be a play on that.

Apex - I’ve had a been in my bonnet regarding the terrible lack of communication from the board for a while, I feel your pain.
Perhaps the earnings from AMC not being “amazing” have caused an additional drag…..perhaps the first thing Polaris did with its shares was to lend them to shorters (we had a terrible time last time they bought shares)…..we will probably never know.
All I do know is that since I’ve held Cineworld we have been hit by Delta, lost court case, Omicron and a serious War……. :-(
GLA LTH’s
I told you yesterday and was mocked, it’s in relation to the oil price…..let me explain.
The oil price has a massive effect on the airlines, the airlines are part of the “travel & leisure” sector a sector we are part of, when one part of a sector is smashed all other within it are also smashed. So like I said yesterday, we are down because of the oil price, it rose again substantially last night hence todays mess.
Overall obviously Ukraine is the driving force behind general sentiment and the rise in oil prices as Russia as a producer has been taken off the table.
I hope this helps.
GLA LTH’s
IMO our drop is more linked to the oil price than anything specific to Cineworld, our SP appears to be directly linked to airlines who intern are linked to the oil price.
You would think some bright spark somewhere may notice that and adjust their algorithm.
I’ve now been investing for just over one year. What a terrible year to choose.
